It had a homey feel, the staff was kind and the residents looked well cared for and comfortable. Management communicates well and is always responsive to my inquiries. The aides that work with Mom are phenomenal - caring and respectful. The food is good and there is always an option to order off a menu if the resident doesn't care for the daily entree. Mom particularly enjoys the seafood, pizza and chicken wings! She attends daily exercise class and looks forward to the musical entertainment and bingo. Her laundry is done and her apartment is cleaned for her. I find she is more socially engaged and less lonely than she was living at home alone. I rest easy knowing Mom is safe and well cared for at Waltham Crossings. It was a hard move to make, but I know I chose the right facility for her.

Until the end of our mother's 13 years there, we would have agreed enthusiastically. In November 2025, our mom, a Lasell Village resident since 2013, died after a fall that could have been prevented had a safety protocol for staff been in place. It was only following this avoidable tragedy that we discovered there really are two sides to Lasell Village. The first is the exceptional front line staff: housekeeping, dining, facilities, I.T., fitness, transportation, wellness; those who interact directly with residents on a day-to-day basis are uniformly caring, dedicated, skillful and willing to go above and beyond. The second is the leadership whose president's previous experience was with a publicly traded senior living conglomerate whose investors included BlackRock and Vanguard. Her background seemed like an unlikely fit for a non-profit that used to be affiliated with a college, but it makes sense in light of the corporate direction she has taken Lasell Village in since her arrival. While acknowledging that our mother's death prompted them to address the gaps in their safety protocol, she rejected our request to participate in the process of developing a comprehensive plan because we were no longer customers. Apparently, the reason we are no longer customers didn't earn us a seat at the table. It is obviously too late for our family to benefit from a comprehensive safety policy. At this stage, our sole motivation is the interests of the front-line staff and residents of Lasell Village. In sharing our experience, we hope to prompt leadership including the board and president to be more transparent and focused on the safety of its residents. We also want prospective residents to be able to make a fully informed decision. There remain many positive aspects of living at Lasell Village--primarily its front-line staff--but they need to be weighed against the bottom-line focus of its leadership.

The days are long and boring. The apartments are spacious and housekeeping and the food are very good. Field trips were monthly and interesting now they are nonexistent. Other than the apartments and the food which is adequate. And most of the employees i would say it is adequate at best and very expensive.

Our mother has been a resident at Waterstone for over four years. When we realized that she would…read morerequire assisted living, we looked at a number of facilities in the Boston suburbs, and interviewed staff. Waterstone was rather new at that point but, comparing it to the other facilities that we looked at, and comparing the costs, we felt that this facility, its staff, the programs - and the food! - made Waterstone the best value and the best fit. Now, four years later, we are happy with the experience our Mom has had at Waterstone. She is suffering from some progressive dementia, and so requires an increasing level of care, but the Waterstone staff has been accommodating and supportive. There is a personal touch to everything, and we rest well knowing that our Mom is well cared for. The programs and events are sophisticated and stimulating - and the staff are open to suggestions for more types of events. We ourselves often visit, eat with our Mom, and attend events with her. We are on a first-name basis with a number of staff members. The facility is ample and is well laid out to encourage social interaction - if Mom doesn't feel up to going out, she still doesn't feel "cooped up" or isolated if she stays inside. She makes use of the library/living room and of the public areas every day. We also like the location - right off of Route 128, behind Wellesley Hills shopping, but tucked away, and adjacent to the Charles River and its walking paths, a footbridge and beautiful foliage. The community of residents is interesting and stimulating. And, in talking casually with other residents and their families, we have found that most are also happy with Waterstone, and it is a supportive residential community. We have highly recommended Waterstone to others looking for assisted living accommodations for their loved ones, and we will continue to do so.

My relative has been a resident at The Residence for three years. The cost keeps going up each year…read morejust under a grand each January, yet they are not providing the needed care on their Memory Care floor. Yes they are always short of help, but if they want to raise the cost...then provide the expected care/support! Hygiene is an issue. My relative is not showering or changing to clean clothes or being changed into bedtime sleepwear. The cleanliness of the rooms is also lacking lately! Bathrooms not being cleaned, trash not being emptied and basic maintenance of the room is lacking (ie. leaks under sinks not being addressed.)
