Stopped by on a Wednesday morning while visiting from out of town and loved the ambiance and aesthetic inside. Had quick service and friendly baristas! Cheeky Monkey has been around for a while but recently moved from the back of the city market building to the front, right on Front Street now. Typical coffee, latte, espresso, etc. type coffee shop. Lots of flavors to select from, including sugar free options. Coffee was really good. They take cash, cards and Apple Pay. Small area inside and outside to site and drink your coffee. The Costal Farmhouse shop (previously in the Cotton Exchange) has now moved in and shares space in the Cheeky Monkey. Nice to browse the selection while drinking coffee. read more

I had the French Toast Latte - Cinnabun, Marshmallow, Vanilla. No regrets! Perfectly balanced - creamy, but not too rich, sweet but not sickly. I was a little worried it might have that artificial taste but not at all! Natural and delicious. I love that they have a pumpkiny Fall Festival latte on the menu year round! How fun. Really friendly staff. Really comfortable and laid back atmosphere. I was impressed enough to buy a sticker of their logo for my fridge! No doubt I'll be back next time I'm in Wilmington. read more

Wonderful discovery today! Leaving town to return home and so glad we stopped here. As another small batch local roaster, I was thrilled to see they are too. Americano very good- a tad light/medium body for me but notes were tasty. Prices are good, got a bag of beans to take home for a reasonable price. Service was excellent. If you like coffee, you have to stop by cheeky monkey--best coffee in Wilmington. It smells amazing inside because they brew their own chai!!! It's amazing. AND they just perfected the recipe so they will have bottles of chai concentrate available for purchase soon. If I lived there, I could keep a bottle in the fridge at all times. They have a few pastries and sweets to go along with your coffee. Small space with bar seating at the window and a few tables. I found the coffee to be weak and insipid. I would gamble the cheese danish I purchased had been shucked from a plastic wrapper before being placed in the display case. It was barely edible. Cool little spot, definitely a nice place to go get caffeinated and get a bit of work done. The problem is with quality consistency a bit, their drinks are typically good, I usually stick with the same two, a Chai or a London Fog, but they seem to be made very differently depending on the day/employee. Once a tea bag was left in my London Fog that gave it a slimy film almost bad enough to trigger a gag reflex on my laptop screen, another time the Chai just had like a full ass cup of cinnamon dumped on it with no mixing, safe to say I did a surprise cinnamon challenge that day I was woefully unprepared for. Cool place, nice vibe, could use a bit more consistent drink preparation. read more

Obessed with this coffee shop. It was one of the first coffee shops I visited since moving to Wilmington and fell in love. It's one of the places I take everyone when they come to town to visit. Everyone there is so nice and patient because I am so indecisive. A perfect Saturday: walking down to Cheeky Monkey and then wandering through the Farmer's Market enjoying my coffee. The banana fosters coffee is my best friend and my favorite drink and I don't like banana or cinnamon like that! Everything on the menu is delicious though. Our daughter was recently married in Wilmington. We stayed at an inn that was next door to the venue, and as luck would have it, just a couple doors down from this perfect little coffee shop. All our orders were to go, but it had a relaxing, clean indoor seating area with plenty of access to charging stations as well as a couple outdoor tables. My wife and I stuck to black coffee all four mornings (very good), but my daughter raved about their Chai Tea and all their drinks sounded delicious. Staff was always friendly and the piece of coffee cake we ordered was exceptional when warmed. We will definitely be going back whenever we are downtown! read more

I attended the Grand Reopening with my husband. So glad we did. Maggie and her family are amazing people and the coffee is the best in Wilmington. We just moved here, so I was looking for a go to coffee shop and I am so glad I found Cheeky Monkey. The atmosphere is warm and cozy. This was one of the best lattes I have ever had!! While a few others are quite good, Cheeky Monkey is the best. The ambience is nice-exposed brick, great lighting, nice background music. The coffee here is totally awesome! I had the iced vanilla latte with almond milk and it was rich with robust coffee flavor---not that weak watered down taste you get at some places. My husband had a coffee chai which was also very good. Then we shared a piece of banana bread which was to die for! Moist, flavorful and lots of nuts. Definitely going back. I wish I could score it higher but we couldn't based on how watery our chai latte and vanilla latte's were. Maybe it was because we asked for almond milk, but most of the time we use almond milk elsewhere it's fantastic tasting. We didn't even drink them after we left.
