Hidden Grounds was yummy! Their cold brew was delicious, the staff was friendly, everything is made to order and the vibes are high. Outside on the patio is the only seating area and everything was totally damp. I wish they had a cover or even a place to sit that was indoors away from the elements. I would go back if the weather was guaranteed to be nice that day but alas was there on a summer afternoon.
3/5 when it's hot outside and 5/5 for nice weather day. It's a very cute coffee shop, however the line does not move fast so be prepared to wait, and if you have claustrophobia you should definitely avoid this place lol. There is no indoor seating, indoors is just for ordering and is very tiny and cramped, with excessively loud dance music playing for the club vibe. Not what I want from a coffee place tbh, but everything looks nice. It's dinosaur themed by the way. Again, line is out the door and we waited probably 20min before we could order. Outdoor patio is very beautiful though, I'll give them that. It's multi level, very green, lots of small pretty tables, and has a wooden deck. Most of the area is shaded or partially shaded. I ordered one of the signature cold brews and I liked it, cold brew is very soft/mild and enjoyable, and the cold foam wasn't too sweet and overpowering which I like. We did come here on a hot sunny 95F day, and honestly as much as we liked the outdoor "oasis" seating area, it was very hot. I probably wouldn't recommend coming here on a scorching hot day. You'll wait outside in line forever and you'll have to sip on your drink - you guessed it - outside. Share helps but not much. On a nice 70F day I can see myself spending here a couple hours easily though!

They have so many fun drink options! Dinosaur figurines everywhere. Great selection of merch. Hustling and friendly staff. Delicious and creative beverages. Back patio is a green zen oasis.
The cutest coffee shop I have ever stepped foot into!!! The girls working there had the best vibe and the best music taste. My coffee was pretty good- nothing revolutionary but I will be back. My friend got a matcha and didn't like it. I'd stick to coffee if you're here and definitely sit outside!!

Marlboro man- half sweet and iced- very good. Brown Sugar- Shaken espressso with brown sugar and cinnamon- made mine with oatmilk. It overly sweet and can still taste the coffee. 2 Minty Matchas (mint chocolate chip ice cream taste) 1 strawberry- strawberry shortcake taste They offered some food options- mostly pastries and a few cookies. No down size, wish there were other options for eating, but main focus here is the coffee and they do it well.
This place has it all; Great service, ambiance and coffee! Kid friendly too!! And we loved the decors and swag!
Super fun vibes and very friendly people that are happy to answer any questions! Line does get long fast but there are lots of friendly pups around, so the wait doesn't get too terrible. Could not decide what I wanted but ultimately got their Nanner (banana pudding drink). It normally comes quite sweet but they were happy to modify it to less sweet. Their lemon cruffin was fluffy and very lemon filled, crunchy sugar coating all around the outside. Also, look out for Wilma the velociraptor! She's quite awesome.

Iconic coffee shop just off of the downtown area that I wish was in my neighborhood, I love it and would visit daily if it was. They have the coolest cowboy/dinosaur theme throughout the shop. You can expect a line down the street on the weekends so we stopped by during the week when the wait wasn't so long. You walk in place your order and go to the hidden ground which is out the back door to an outdoor lounge area with turf grass and a ton of different areas to sit to enjoy your beverage. They call your name through a window and you can pick it up outside. It's definitely a favorite spot for all of the locals and the coffee/matcha was amazing. I loved the minty matcha, just not a combo I've seen before and wish more places had the idea. Very good size drinks for the price. They also have the coolest merch, hats and shirts to complement your swag. This place rocks!!
Absolutely loved this coffee house, it was very unique and I appreciated it being different. It reminded me of Isla Nublar from Jurassic Park! Especially with the dinosaurs found throughout the coffee house. I loved the set-up, u walk in, order your coffee, and walk up the stairs to a foliage of everything that makes you feel like being in nature drinking coffee. There were table and chairs everywhere that you could choose to sit at. I loved that they called your name from the window and you came to the window for pick up. Let's back up a sec, in the inside there were about 3-4 associates operating as a functioning team which made getting orders out seamless. There was Kerch available for sale not to mention they were very nice and professional. I had a cold brew and it was amazing. The coffee house is very well kept and maintained.
The perfect name for this hidden oasis. The line out of the door is deserving. Service is quick as staff is a well oiled machine. Exit out the back door to the most incredible hidden patio. Tons of outdoor seating and a couple swings. Coffee is fantastic and is picked up in the window when ready. The pastries are a great treat as well.
Truly impressed! I love the decor, layout, and most certainly the outdoor seating area. There can't be another outdoor area quite like this one. It makes you feel like you're in the middle of a mini jungle, but in a good way. Customer service was excellent! The barista greeted us all with a smile and was very patient as we ordered our drinks. The coffee was delightful, and they use homemade syrups, which is a big plus! I honestly cannot wait to come back and visit again. If you're in the area, please do yourself a favor and check this place out. read more

Just left Hidden Grounds Coffee in Wilmington. Other than the outdoor setting, almost nothing else was worth the trip. We ordered a cappuccino, a latte, a zucchini muffin, and a cheese biscuit. The bill came to $29, including a $5 tip. The cappuccino was tiny and tasted like lukewarm burnt dirt with a faint Starbucks aftertaste (I hate Starbucks). My wife said the latte was merely okay. The zucchini muffin and cheese biscuit were both terrible--almost certainly baked sometime last week. Even after we warmed them in the microwave, one bite was enough. Dry, stale, and with a flavor that's hard to describe without being unkind. The music was so loud at 7 a.m. on a holiday Monday that you had to shout at the baristas to be heard. And that "beautiful" outdoor area? Every seat and table was wet. Nothing had been wiped down. Hard to believe this place sits at 4.9 stars. I'm doing them a favor by giving them two. Just another mediocre Wilmington spot that's easy to skip next time. read more

Hidden Grounds has my favorite coffee ever... and I've had a lot of coffee! I'm itching to go back to Wilmington and I'd be lying if having another Nanner Puddin' coffee wasn't one of the top reasons. I absolutely loved it and wish this coffee shop was closer to me! Aside from the phenomenal coffee, the outdoor patio has such a cool, unique vibe with all of the dinosaur decor. I sat out there for about an hour, and the atmosphere was absolutely perfect. If you're looking for a memorable coffee spot with amazing drinks, great service, and a fun atmosphere, Hidden Grounds is a must visit! read more

Loved loved loved this hidden gem! Their coffee and outdoor seating area are incredible! I loved the aesthetic and vibe. Perfect spot for catching up on work, reading a book, and hangout for friends. The barista was super sweet and helpful for sorting out which drink I should try. Forget other coffee shops - if I lived locally this would be my local go-to! read more

When I'm on vacation, I love exploring new places and trying out the local hotspots. My wife had stumbled across Hidden Grounds and we were excited to try it. They have leaned in hard to the theme here, with all kinds of cute dinosaur paraphernalia. They have a wonderful outdoor seating area that honestly makes you forget that you're near the waterfront in a big city because it feels like you are in a secluded garden. The coffee beverages are very unique and tasted great, the staff were very friendly and the service was fast. Prices are a little bit higher than your average coffee shop, but this is also not your average coffee shop. Weather would be a problem here, because all of the seating is outdoors and very little of it is covered, so this is not somewhere you would want to hang out on a stormy day. But on a beautiful sunny day this seems like a fantastic spot to spend an afternoon getting some work done and having a little bit of escape from the city life. read more

Hidden Grounds Coffee is one of the most exceptional coffee experiences I ever encountered in my life. It is definitely not Starbucks. I highly recommend their specialty menu for coffee. Expect the line to be long and service to be efficient if you come to this place for the first time. After you make & pay for your order, you walk out to an open air mezzanine area with tables & chairs and sitting areas to wait for your coffee. Very impressive ambience with a dinosaur theme . Toy dinosaurs are perched on each table. We waited near the window sill area where coffee orders were announced and placed for pick up. For our first coffee orders, my husband selected the Marlboro Man - a classic vanilla latte. I ordered a Nanner Puddin , an espresso coffee with a banana & caramel flavor. They both were superb & one of the finest coffees we ever had. Traffic builds up quickly to this coffee place early in the morning. So run don't walk to Hidden Grounds for a one of a kind coffee experience! read more

I came here on a Saturday morning and the line was out of the door. After waiting for about 20 minutes i was able order and got the Dino campfire with oat milk ($7) which came out after another 10 minutes. The outside patio is absolutely gorgeous and fun with its Dino theme. They have little toy dinosaurs on each table. The coffee itself was quite good! A marshmallow themed coffee that had a good balance between coffee and sweetness. Drink(50%): 9.0 Staff/service(25%): 7.5 Value(25%): 8.0 Overall: 8.4/10 read more

Cute dinosaur themed cafe with lots of outdoor seating! The cafe is very lively and filled with folks socializing and working. It's a great vibe but probably not an ideal place if you need something quiet. The menu is very creative and includes a variety of options. Most drinks average ~$6 and may cost more with additional flavors or dairy alternatives. I opted for the iced brown sugar shaken espresso. The drink was well balanced and not overly sweet. Dino Campfire Latte was such a treat! It even came with a torched marshmallow on top of my drink. Very yummy coffee and I also grabbed a blueberry cheesecake danish and an oatmeal cream pie from the pastry case and both were delicious! I enjoyed the outside seating area on the nice weather day. Baristas are always nice and service is relatively fast for how long the line gets for people ordering. read more

What dinosaur? OMG I was so smittened by the back patio and oasis that I totally missed the T Rex that some of the reviews referenced! Must definitely visit Wilmington again (from VA Beach!) to enjoy Hidden Grounds coffee's friendly service and ambiance! My beau had pampered me with an impromptu overnight stay in Wilmington after a whole day of exploring the OBX. So discovering this neighborhood gem at the top of the day is wonderful! As you enter, the long line is telling that this place is everyone's fave. But the line goes quickly as the staff seems so good at what they do: taking orders with a smile, answering questions about their beverages, crafting these coffee concoctions like the pros that they are. Their coffee is great. I eyed their pastries that seemed baked fresh for the day - I will go back for the ricotta and mushroom pastry. They have great merchandise too - I purchased a tank top that has the "caffeine and cowboys" print - how'd they read my mind tool And last but not least - their back patio! It is a haven to relax, sip your coffee, mingle, even your canine friend is welcome! I can go on and on about coming back...will just have this review reach more ppl since we all need to experience this place! read more
This little coffee shop in downtown Wilmington may fool you from the outside with its seemingly small size, however, once you enter you quickly realize that there is a door out back which takes you to a beautifully green outdoor seating selection. I ordered the Dino campfire which was a tasty spin on a basic latte and came with a toasted marshmallow on top. Both baristas were very friendly and easy to talk to which made this shop even more enjoyable. Overall, I would highly recommend this place especially if you are interested in trying some different varieties of the usual drinks ordered at coffee shops. read more

Hidden Grounds Coffee was amazing! We happened to find this place by chance as it was close to our Airbnb. Right away I enjoyed seeing the decor of the place. Then we were greeted by a friendly and helpful barista. I enjoyed the selection of drinks and pastries. After much consideration I choose a Thai Rex coffee with a cookie pastry. So good! You must visit this place! I can't wait to go back. read more

This place is so awesome and creative. Love the decor in the theme of the coffee shop. The staff is always so welcoming and kind. Love that they have holiday menus and fall menus but just our basic coffee is delicious as well too. Their outdoor seating is super nice. They even have some stool seating inside. It does get super crowded and busy on the weekends and in an early morning, but I went in the afternoon and there was a lot of seating outside and even some inside. Love that they sell the T-shirts and hats and all it's just a great place and decorated in the theme is so great. read more
