Such a cute garden oasis vibe here. I always search for coffee shops when I'm out of town and stumbled upon this one on a Saturday morning and there was a line out the door! Such a cute place to meet up with friends, alone, or a first date. I tried their seasonal Razzler matcha with raspberry syrup. I'd probably just ask for a but more sweetener next time but the matcha itself was smooth and not gritty. They also serve pastries and merch. Staff was super bubbly and friendly. Dog friendly. Walkable if you're staying downtown.
Hidden Grounds was yummy! Their cold brew was delicious, the staff was friendly, everything is made to order and the vibes are high. Outside on the patio is the only seating area and everything was totally damp. I wish they had a cover or even a place to sit that was indoors away from the elements. I would go back if the weather was guaranteed to be nice that day but alas was there on a summer afternoon.
3/5 when it's hot outside and 5/5 for nice weather day. It's a very cute coffee shop, however the line does not move fast so be prepared to wait, and if you have claustrophobia you should definitely avoid this place lol. There is no indoor seating, indoors is just for ordering and is very tiny and cramped, with excessively loud dance music playing for the club vibe. Not what I want from a coffee place tbh, but everything looks nice. It's dinosaur themed by the way. Again, line is out the door and we waited probably 20min before we could order. Outdoor patio is very beautiful though, I'll give them that. It's multi level, very green, lots of small pretty tables, and has a wooden deck. Most of the area is shaded or partially shaded. I ordered one of the signature cold brews and I liked it, cold brew is very soft/mild and enjoyable, and the cold foam wasn't too sweet and overpowering which I like. We did come here on a hot sunny 95F day, and honestly as much as we liked the outdoor "oasis" seating area, it was very hot. I probably wouldn't recommend coming here on a scorching hot day. You'll wait outside in line forever and you'll have to sip on your drink - you guessed it - outside. Share helps but not much. On a nice 70F day I can see myself spending here a couple hours easily though!
Great ambience and great coffee. They have a really nice place to sit and enjoy your drinks in the back.
Sometimes all you need is a sunny day in a coastal town with your favorite coffee in hand. Hidden Grounds is one of those places that feels like a little Wilmington treasure. Don't let the line fool you--they move quickly, and while you wait, you can soak in the charm of their beautiful backyard oasis. My go-to order is the Salty Dino, a perfect blend of salted caramel and vanilla that never disappoints. If you're looking for something a little more fun, the Dino Campfire comes topped with a toasted marshmallow and feels like a cozy treat in a cup. And whatever you do, don't leave without a pastry. Their homemade Pop-Tarts are absolutely elite and worth every bite. Between the incredible coffee, delicious baked goods, and fun merchandise to take home, Hidden Grounds is the kind of spot that keeps you coming back every time you're in Wilmington.
4.75 Super fun vibes, great decor and ambiance, great service. There most likely will be a line, it moves quickly so don't let that scare you off. Order, go out back, and wait for your name to be called. Lots of Dino's and seats available, including swinging chairs. Lots of fun merch options from tees to hats and stickers. Marlboro man- half sweet and iced- very good. Brown Sugar- Shaken espressso with brown sugar and cinnamon- made mine with oatmilk. It overly sweet and can still taste the coffee. 2 Minty Matchas (mint chocolate chip ice cream taste) 1 strawberry- strawberry shortcake taste They offered some food options- mostly pastries and a few cookies. No down size, wish there were other options for eating, but main focus here is the coffee and they do it well.
The hype is real yall!! Small local coffee shop downtown Wilmington. Think throw back/Jurassic Park/jungle/coffee shop. The line is always going to be long and it is for a reason. They have so many fun drink options! Dinosaur figurines everywhere. Great selection of merch. Hustling and friendly staff. Delicious and creative beverages. Back patio is a green zen oasis.
Super fun vibes and very friendly people that are happy to answer any questions! Line does get long fast but there are lots of friendly pups around, so the wait doesn't get too terrible. Could not decide what I wanted but ultimately got their Nanner (banana pudding drink). It normally comes quite sweet but they were happy to modify it to less sweet. Their lemon cruffin was fluffy and very lemon filled, crunchy sugar coating all around the outside. Also, look out for Wilma the velociraptor! She's quite awesome.
The cutest coffee shop I have ever stepped foot into!!! The girls working there had the best vibe and the best music taste. My coffee was pretty good- nothing revolutionary but I will be back. My friend got a matcha and didn't like it. I'd stick to coffee if you're here and definitely sit outside!!
Absolutely loved this coffee house, it was very unique and I appreciated it being different. It reminded me of Isla Nublar from Jurassic Park! Especially with the dinosaurs found throughout the coffee house. I loved the set-up, u walk in, order your coffee, and walk up the stairs to a foliage of everything that makes you feel like being in nature drinking coffee. There were table and chairs everywhere that you could choose to sit at. I loved that they called your name from the window and you came to the window for pick up. Let's back up a sec, in the inside there were about 3-4 associates operating as a functioning team which made getting orders out seamless. There was Kerch available for sale not to mention they were very nice and professional. I had a cold brew and it was amazing. The coffee house is very well kept and maintained.
This place has it all; Great service, ambiance and coffee! Kid friendly too!! And we loved the decors and swag!
Iconic coffee shop just off of the downtown area that I wish was in my neighborhood, I love it and would visit daily if it was. They have the coolest cowboy/dinosaur theme throughout the shop. You can expect a line down the street on the weekends so we stopped by during the week when the wait wasn't so long. You walk in place your order and go to the hidden ground which is out the back door to an outdoor lounge area with turf grass and a ton of different areas to sit to enjoy your beverage. They call your name through a window and you can pick it up outside. It's definitely a favorite spot for all of the locals and the coffee/matcha was amazing. I loved the minty matcha, just not a combo I've seen before and wish more places had the idea. Very good size drinks for the price. They also have the coolest merch, hats and shirts to complement your swag. This place rocks!!
Just left Hidden Grounds Coffee in Wilmington. Other than the outdoor setting, almost nothing else was worth the trip. We ordered a cappuccino, a latte, a zucchini muffin, and a cheese biscuit. The bill came to $29, including a $5 tip. The cappuccino was tiny and tasted like lukewarm burnt dirt with a faint Starbucks aftertaste (I hate Starbucks). My wife said the latte was merely okay. The zucchini muffin and cheese biscuit were both terrible--almost certainly baked sometime last week. Even after we warmed them in the microwave, one bite was enough. Dry, stale, and with a flavor that's hard to describe without being unkind. The music was so loud at 7 a.m. on a holiday Monday that you had to shout at the baristas to be heard. And that "beautiful" outdoor area? Every seat and table was wet. Nothing had been wiped down. Hard to believe this place sits at 4.9 stars. I'm doing them a favor by giving them two. Just another mediocre Wilmington spot that's easy to skip next time.
Reviews are largely positive. People highlight the creative specialty drinks, friendly staff, and unique themed decor, with many enjoying the outdoor patio seating.

Hidden Grounds Coffee was amazing! We happened to find this place by chance as it was close to our Airbnb. Right away I enjoyed seeing the decor of the place. Then we were greeted by a friendly and helpful barista. I enjoyed the selection of drinks and pastries. After much consideration I choose a Thai Rex coffee with a cookie pastry. So good! You must visit this place! I can't wait to go back. read more

This place is so awesome and creative. Love the decor in the theme of the coffee shop. The staff is always so welcoming and kind. Love that they have holiday menus and fall menus but just our basic coffee is delicious as well too. Their outdoor seating is super nice. They even have some stool seating inside. It does get super crowded and busy on the weekends and in an early morning, but I went in the afternoon and there was a lot of seating outside and even some inside. Love that they sell the T-shirts and hats and all it's just a great place and decorated in the theme is so great. read more
Absolutely love this little coffee shop. It's definitely unique and their coffee is amazing. The thai tyrannosaurus rex is my favorite. The outdoor space is amazing as well. Perfect for hanging with friends, working or just relaxing by yourself. They have dinosaurs hidden all over. The baristas are super friendly and will answer any questions you may have. read more

A perfect stop on a chilly mid afternoon. The shop itself has very limited seating. With our party of 5 and one other customer in line and with the two indoor two seat tables occupied, it was a tight squeeze. The entrance to the ordering area to the pickup area is small and I imagine really difficult to navigate at busier times. The interior is good blend of light and relaxation. It is easy to read the menu. Some signature blends available. I ordered a coffee with cream and sugar. It was ok. My kids ordered hot chocolate and said it was the best hot chocolate they have ever had. I will return to try some of their blends and seasonal drinks and sit outside on a warmer day. The baristas were very friendly and helpful with asking questions about their selection. read more

Location: the heart of downtown. Across from a big municipal lot and not far from the river. It's the historic district and they are next door to the social club. Exterior: very cool set up. A total vibe. Dinosaurs is the theme but I love how there were hidden ones all over. Small to large. You can purse them etc and there are a lot. When you order your drink you are directed to the patios for a call out through a window that they have on the floor of the patio outside. It was the waiting area but then you'd find yourself immersed in the decorations and you'd want to stay lol Staff/service: very nice! Patient as we read through the menu- which can be so diverse you should probably know what you plan to order going in. No real food options just cookies and pastries. It's dog friendly on the patio but you need to walk up on the side path. They have merchandise and some of it is neat even if not a local. read more

I was so glad to finally visit this place a few months ago for the first time. The service is relatively quick for how busy they get and the setting is extremely fun! The inside of the location is pretty small but opens up into a beautiful backyard with plenty of seating. Wait times can vary and line is usually down the sidewalk. Would recommend getting there extremely early or later in the day! read more
I drank my coffee so quick it didn't even stand a chance for the picture. Can't say enough great things about this spot. I can see why it has gone viral on social media. Aside from being just a genuinely unique, cool spot to hang out, the coffee is incredible. I got the t-Rex latte and loved the cold foam on top. The banana latte was also delicious. Going to have to stop in here every time we come to ILM. read more

Service was friendly! Definitely worth the $7 iced coffee, which I don't usually say with small coffee shops but well worth it! read more
Oh man, really liked this place. The theme is fun and there are fun little touches all over the place. The grounds are really cool with lots of seating and plants. The girl at the register was really kind. I got the Nanner Pudding latte and omg... I didn't even want to drink it because I didn't want it to be gone - the banana really comes through and the caramel adds a nice depth to it. I would definitely come back. read more
I was a bit skeptical before trying out Hidden Grounds but I was pleasantly surprised by the service and coffee. Sometimes it seems if places are too well decorated that the service or food and drinks are not the best, but they really have it all. The staff is really welcoming and happy to answer any questions you have. They make great coffee and even have some food options. Not to mention the sitting area is very cool and everywhere is picture worthy. read more

Such a unique, hip little coffee spot. Great coffee! The outdoor area completely sells the vibe. Its essentially a hidden garden space! Definitely worth stopping in to try. The coffee here is delicious and has a lot of unique options. I tried out a spring drink they just started called Blazing Saddles. Delicious with a little bit of pretzels on top! My wife had the simple hazelnut latte but said it was delicious. And the staff was super nice and very accommodating. All in all a perfect little spot to have a cozy coffee in the grotto. read more

Loovvvveedddd this place! Extremely chill spot to sit and just relax and enjoy the morning. The nana pudding and the campfire were great (nana pudding was our fave). The folks that served us were very nice. It's small inside, but the back space is amazing. Went twice during our trip. Absolutely recommend! read more
I cannot rave enough about this place. The aesthetic is everythingg!!! Super cute dinosaur themed with plenty of seating options. (Not ideal for working remotely but great for chit chatting). Their coffee was great and they had lots of great combos. We also got the matcha with strawberry cream cold foam and it was to die for. Will be going back if I am back in town! read more
I am in town for a work conference. It's my first time ever being in Wilmington. The coffee is so good!! I can't remember the name of the coffee I ordered but it had lavender in it. The vibes/music is great. They also allow dogs which is a huge plus! They have very little seats indoors but there's an outdoor area with swings and seating. The employees were nice, polite, and gave good recommendations. I recommend checking them out! read more

Upon arrival there was a line out the door, which moved pretty quickly everyone had positive vibes, the inside was great to look at while you waited to order. The process was fairly easy and the place was comfy and cozy but also had that nature feeling and kids and pets could easily be comfortable being in this area with the upstairs outdoor seating. I think the only thing this place is missing is a better selection of milk replacements and food selections. a nice pastry would fit well with this. I didn't see any menu only 3 options on display but no names. overall loved the place! read more

Such a cool spot! Great coffee that can be enjoyed around Dino's and plants. I will say the wait was INSANE and the line was out the door. It probably took over 30 min to get a coffee. If you don't see a line, grab a coffee and a sip in Jurassic park. read more

This place is not just good coffee! It has a lot of character!! It's got a crazy Dino vibe and the counter area is small but the outdoor seating is nice! The staff was so nice and helpful! I ordered a salty Dino and went up the stairs to the outdoor seating area.. weird right? It's a very cool location and they have lots of different seating like hanging swing chairs, a counter with bar stool, couches, comfy chairs.. the coffee was hot and had great flavor.. prices were no more than any other coffee places.. dog friendly and kid friendly.. go get yourself a cup and enjoy the outdoor space it's highly recommended! read more
