WITH THAT SAID: READ BELOW WHAT I ORIGINALLY WROTE... Bzzz bzzz OUCH! Bzzzz bzzzz OUCH! That's pretty much how the whole electrolysis experience goes - you don't need me to tell you it's painful. But hey beauty is pain as they say - so if you want to be as smooth as a babies bottom bite your lip and take it. Quite honestly if it wasn't for Marla's calming demeanor and her relaxing voice and out of this world sense of humor I would have run out of the room screaming with the first hair that was zapped. Marlas office is immaculately clean and she really takes her time explaining everything to you before she begins. She also gives you an option to go with the numbing cream or without. The numbing cream has to be applied an hour before the procedure so I decided to be a bad ass and did a whole hour without since I was already there and wanted to move faster towards being hair free. Huge mistake on my part, I recommend purchasing a numbing cream from her for $25 and lathering yourself up in it before coming for your appointment. I don't want to go over in too much detail what electrolysis feels like because quite frankly it's hard to describe, and if you are really that interested you can google it - but this review is about the amazing Marla not the pain factor of electrolysis after all. Marla has been doing this for 30 years, and even though I have never been to an electrologist before I can tell most definitely she has a very soft hand - and when it comes to anything that involves needles you know that's a huge plus. I have been going to Marla for over six months now. She is a very kind, gentle woman who really has perfected the "gentle touch" approach. Marla is a very experienced electrologist and is fun to chat with while you're getting your hairs zapped!! I'm happy with the work she did within one session. But I also found her very unprofessional regarding multiple things. I met with her 3 times and she was late every time. On our last meeting she seemed unaware that I even had an appointment! Then after a misunderstanding about payment (I was going to pay for 8 hours upfront with her, but she didn't tell me it was cash only) she became rude and aggressive. I got the cash for her and tried to rectify the situation immediately, but she argued and then stopped responding to my texts. Eventually she told me I should find someone else to meet my needs. Overall I would recommend Marla for electrolysis, as long as you are okay with late appointments. My schedule doesn't work with hers so I will be looking for someone else. read more

I haven't received any service from this person but I never had such a disrespectful, unprofessional, and rude encounter with a business owner. While I called to make an appointment I was asked if I was fully vaccinated, which I confirmed. Then she asked if I had the booster shot and I told her that I am not due for a booster shot yet since I received my last shot at the end of last year. She became rude and just hung up. Now I don't have anything against each business making their own rules (despite me being probably better protected with my two recent shots than anyone with a booster), but you can communicate it in a professional manner. read more

I found Marla on Yelp and met with her because of her wonderful reviews, and I'm glad I did! I never had electrolysis before and was quite nervous about it. I heard that it was quite painful and I heard that some people get put under with it. I went in thinking it would hurt but it honestly was not painful at all. It hurt less than a teeth cleaning at the dentist. I had laser hair removal, and that was much more painful. Marla was so gentle and I had little to no skin irritation after. I would have started electrolysis so much earlier if I knew it was so painless. Marla did a great job, and I already booked my next appointment. It does take a long time since she is removing each individual hair, but the effects are supposed to be permanent. Marla was very easygoing and fun to talk to. I had heard that it can be quite painful, so I was nervous. I went in for a consultation with Marla and she showed me how the machine works and tested it on me. It does hurt! I've gotten top tier results from Marla, and her bedside (tableside?) manner is excellent. Now I'm not very sensitive to the inevitable pain that comes with electrolysis, but even so I'd recommend that you ask Marla to apply her numbing cream on you. It does cost a little bit extra, but for me it was worth it. I could literally hear the hairs being zapped and pulled out more than I could feel it happening. Marla knows so much about electrolysis and explains every step of the treatment beforehand and while she's actually removing the hair. She's incredibly friendly and more importantly gentle. Electrolysis can be uncomfortable in certain moments but to say it's painful is an overstatement. Marla also offers numbing cream to all of her clients to apply 1 hour before treatment. I myself don't use the numbing cream and handle the treatments just fine. Keep in mind I've had electrolysis done on most parts of my body at this point. I've been going to Marla for electrolysis for several months and could not be happier with the results. I naturally have thick, black hairs that grow at random and Marla has gotten rid of them. I've also had hair grow in thicker from laser hair removal treatments where there was no hair before and electrolysis is the only way to remove those hair follicles. Her location is easy to find and there's always parking right out front which makes getting to her even better for me. If you're serious about getting rid of hair like myself, I definitely recommend buying her 4-hour package. It's totally worth it, saves you money, and each hour is less expensive compared to other electrologists in the area.
