Late night hangover prevention going on here. No alcohol sold here. Came by at 2:45am and it was packed. We sat in the corner booth and Bambi served us. We had the Mark's Sloppy Plate special for $10.99. You can customize it, so we went with one hotdog and one cheeseburger with macaroni salad and home fries. We shared the plate and still didn't finish it all. It could've used more flavor. The locals put ketchup on it, so we followed suit and added hot sauce. Service was prompt. The clientele is a little scary, great for people watching though. Nothing really healthy on the menu. Just a late night drunk's haven for hangover food.

Best garbage plates in the world and I'll die on that hill. Sat down here with a couple friends mid-week. They acted surprised people wanted to dine in, but were appreciative of our business. Dozens and dozens of takeout orders were flying out the door, but we were the only dine-in ticket. The place was super clean. Every table and booth was spotless. Floor was clean. There wasn't any of that typical greasy grime you'd expect in a diner that's been around this long. The inside is dated but clean. The waitress and manager were very attentive and friendly. Food came fast, was hot, and delicious. Fries crispy, Mac salad flavorful and not overly mayonnaiseey, the burgers dogs and sauce were good as expected. Like I said. Best plates in Rochester and I'll die on that hill. This place hasn't changed in decades, and that's a good thing. One member of our party got a grilled Reuben with home fries too and I was a little nervous, but when it came out it looked bomb. Corned beef thick and fresh. She enjoyed it. Love this spot. Please stay open forever.

Well, we are having Covid19 theme dinners to break the home bound monotony. Our Brooklyn daughter and her husband and son moved in almost 3 weeks ago. I am blessed to have them here and safe. Marks provided a fun dinner for all. There was plenty of tasty food for everyone and everyone had something different. No kitchen duty tonight. Thanks Marks.

Flavor and value can't be beat!! The hot sauce on the sloppy plates is straight up magical, and definitely the best in rochester. The staff works so hard to make sure everyone is satisfied! I haven't lived in rochester for almost 20 years, but still try to make it back every summer for a plate.

My fiancee and I stopped in Rochester while on a road trip and knew we had to get garbage plates while in town. A good friend of mine suggested Mark's Texas Hots. I was between Mark's and Dogtown and went with Mark's since they were open later. First of all, the waitress was a really sweet girl who gave us a lot of pointers and helped us along in ordering the plates. My fiancee got home fries, mac salad, one burger, and a white hot. I got french fries, mac salad, one burger, and a red hot. We ended up switching hot dogs since she didn't like the white hot. The burger was cooked perfectly and the meat sauce was great. The mac salad was PERFECT - not too sweet and a really nice compliment to the rest of the plate. Both the french fries and home fries were good, but I preferred the crispiness of the french fries. For the amount of food you get, the price is unbeatable. I'd definitely go here again.

It was Sunday and I wanted a garbage plate. The original Tahou's was closed so I checked the web for the top 10 garbage plate spots in Rochester. Mark's came up third on the list and they are open 24/7. I have had recreations elsewhere and have been disappointed. The original is always the best IMO but I needed a plate stat. Mark's is essentially a full service diner. I saw lots of people enjoying breakfast but you know what I was looking for. The verdict? This garbage plate is fantastic! They use yellow mustard and the original uses brown which I prefer. They used red skin potatoes for the home fries and they were outstanding. Delicious mac salad and perfectly cooked cheeseburgers. In many ways (gasp) this plate is better than the original. It also came with a big hunk of Italian bread that I did not feel like eating. 24/7 and using their own techniques the Mark's plate should definitely be on your garbage plate radar!

This was at like 2am, mildly drunk, which clearly is when you should be eating it because place was packed and there was a line out the door. So when in Rochester eat a garbage plate, not the most appealing thing. It's a jumble of fries, hamburger patties, ground meat, onions, cheese and macaroni salad tossed with some ketchup and hot sauce. Well it's definitely not healthy but it oddly works and it wasn't bad. Fun to try and eat. Gives you spicy, salty, hint of sweet, greasy, creamy, hard and soft textures. Little bit of everything... Can't say anything bad about the place, pretty good service, fast food and there were two security guards. I mean this place had bouncers like a club...so you'll be safe knowing no one is going to steal your food.

Good place to eat. Friendly staff, fast service and good food. Located in a rough place but once instead the trip will be worth it.

All of the others who didn't measure up." But take heart! All it takes is taking off the glasses and letting its hair down, and suddenly you realize just how attractive and special Railway Station Diner really is! It's the quintessential reliable diner. Above average food. Below average prices. Regulars. A counter. Good service. Quick service. The Mediterranean frittata was wholesome and filling. The ingredients, fresh. It came with roast (up charge for raisin toast, but worth it!). The breakfast sandwich with shred, too, was perfectly proportioned; the crunch of the English muffin and the squish of the sausage balanced each other exactly equally, like Neo and Smith in that third Matrix movie. But the true hidden gem was the muffin. Cut in half and grilled. With sugar crystals! Not too big. Not too small. Not so sweet as to be dessert-like. Just perfectly sweet enough to make you not regret "going savory" by getting the frittata as your main course. Next time you're asked about the best diners around, make sure Railway Station Diner is part of the pantheon.

There is someone just circling constantly with a pot. This is a cash only establishment, so be advised. There is an ATM. We did go at slightly off peak times, since we weren't working those days, but at those times, the restaurant seems to be a favorite of retired men, which is a good sign for a diner! They have a set menu and a specials board that I think changes daily. There's 2 full pages of breakfast, and at least 2 pages of lunch, plus the board. I'm sure you'll find something you like. I had the same thing both visits - a cheese omelet with hashbrowns and wheat toast. It was really cheesy, and I liked that it was a 2 egg omelet rather than 3, for me it was just the right size. We also split a piece of the rotating coffee cake, cinnamon walnut that day, and it was good - not too sweet, plenty of cinnamon. The guy had their 2-2-2 combo and was happy with that choice. For both of us, breakfast ran about $35, for 2 entrees and coffee, plus the cake.

I had hashbrowns, hubby had home fries. Both were cooked perfectly. Crispy edges, soft & seasoned nicely. The next day, we came with our daughter. She has eggs benedict with side fresh fruit. Platter was huge with so much ham and potatoes with the eggs and Hollandaise, she couldn't finish it. Husband had an amazing special: a fried breakfast wrap with powdered sugar. Unfortunately, it turned into one of the worst restaurant experiences. We spent 2.5 hours total at the restaurant. After waiting an excessive amount of time, we watched two tables that arrived at least an hour after us receive their food first. When we politely asked if our ticket might have been missed, we were told those tables ordered before us, which simply wasn't true. We were then told the delay was because burgers take a long time but a nearly two-hour wait for a burger is pretty wild. It took about 25 minutes just for someone to take our drink order, and we were never asked if we wanted additional drinks. We had to flag staff down for everything. No ketchup, no hot sauce, nothing offered. The $30 mimosa flight served in tiny glasses also felt like a complete scam. When the food finally came, two people in our party were served 15-20 minutes before the other two, and the food was cold. One dish had completely raw eggs. When I let the server know I couldn't eat it, she came back and removed the meal from the bill, which was appreciated. However, the interaction itself felt tense and dismissive, which made an already frustrating experience worse. They did give us a round of breakfast shots to try to help pass the time which was appreciated. The food itself was disappointing overall. The breakfast burrito was basically all eggs with raw, bitter avocado, and my husband's burger was missing requested toppings. We also noticed food sitting in the service window while we continued waiting. The only person who was happy with their meal got the biggie fries an it was hot when it arrived. To make matters worse, the bathroom was unheated on an 18° day (feels like 2°) and not clean. We're a pretty chill, patient group and understand that kitchens get backed up but man, this experience completely missed the mark. Ironically, the cooks thanked us for our patience and servers said goodbye pleasantly on the way out. We honestly may have let a lot of this go if the service hadn't felt so dismissive when we calmly raised concerns.
