This Marks & Spencer is right by my office. I must have visited it hundreds of times in the past few years. Hence I know it well.
What to say: it's a medium-sized M&S. It has a pretty good selection of clothes, but not much specialist stuff. The food section is geared almost exclusively to the ready-to-eat market. As a focal point for the high number of offices nearby, it gets rammed at lunchtimes. My tip? Beat the queues by paying for your lunch at the clothes tills.
Speaking of the tills, a major shift recently has been an expansion of the number of self-service ones at the expense of the staffed ones. I'm all in favour of that, but the software on the self-service ones can be pretty slow sometimes, even on simple calculations like working out the charge for an apple and then adding it to the bill. Service from the staff is generally good, ranging from excellent to slow.
Overall though, a pretty dependable place to pick up a snack, drink, meal or item of M&S clothing. read more
