A month or so back, I had occasion for several weeks to use the M&S in Walworth. Now, this is like no other M&S you will ever encounter in your life. It has the air of a premises under siege, and I fully expected the Home Guard to pop up from behind sandbags. There were two - TWO - security guards, and maybe rightly so. I'm not sure who they're aiming the clothing at, as it can best be described as grannywear, and frankly I haven't seen it at any other M&S. Special prominence is given to a small area of cheap homeware. The staff try hard, but there's an air of forced cheerfulness and bonhomie.
Dying on its feet, I think. I fully expect it to be gone at my next visit and replaced by another Cash Converters. read more
