Market Square Cleaners is conveniently located by Archives Metro Station. I first came on 07/26 for the drop off. The lady at the counter was very friendly and was very knowledgeable. I brought in a sweater-vest I made and I wanted it to just be cleaned and nice before presenting it to the intended recipient. I asked if they could "block" it and she said, "No". That would shrink it too much. I said "Oh no! The size is perfect!" She answered, 'drycleaning will be fine" I hesitantly agree to leave my handmade garment there and go the weekend waiting in anticipation. Monday, July 30. I bring my ticket to the counter and ask if the sweater is ready and it was! She gets it down and it looks perfect! The size doesn't look any different and the sweater integrity is intact. I had no issues with anything and I was very pleased! They do have a $10 minimum on credit cards so bring cash! The total for the cleaning of the sweater was $7 and some change. I'd recommend them!

So about 1/4 of both heels were abolished and they built it back nicely! Wish I had a before/after photo to show their work

I was looking for boot heel repair and they did an awesome job. Can't speak for their dry cleaning but for shoes I will definitely come back! I had two pair of my winter boots completely worn down on the heels (so much so that the inside structure was showing). Have been looking for a place to fix them up and was dreading that I would need to take it to some pricey hard-to-find cobbler store since most dry cleaners only do basic repairs. Turns out Market Square Cleaners actually does serious shoe repairs-- the lady at the store was nice enough to provide an initial quote and said that she could follow up to provide accurate quote after the person that worked on shoes took a better look at the damage. She called me back the next day ($40 for the small pair and $50 for the pair that lost practically a quarter of both heels) and was reasonable for me since I've paid $20-30 for tiny high heel repairs, and these were large boot heels. Had my fingers crossed on the results and less than a week later I walked away happy and ready for winter-- great work, looked almost new, and the heel completely built back! They also did a solid polishing job and my scuffed up boots looked really fine! Highly recommend their heel repair for shoes-- great service and good work.

    Ruined by scorching.

Not only was the woman behind the counter so friendly and polite, she was helpful. A few days later, she showed me the dress, and it looked fixed. When I arrived home to try it on, I could tell she did wonders. While the price I paid in the end was not the one she initially quoted, I was ok with paying slightly more as it involved fixing the hem and pleats of the bottom half of a dress as well as potentially adjusting the side seams where the pockets were. Additionally, she did caveat that she might not be able to fix the dress so I appreciated her upfront-ness. And so for the last two months, I have trekked to Farragut Square, greeting the folks behind the front desk and walking into the quaint space that is Barr Cleaners where the woman greets me by name and asks when I need my items. She is always flexible and can turn the items around within a day or two, if it's not a lot. Most of the times, I tell her she can take her time, and even still, it's only a couple of days, and I'm ok with that. The most recent dress I brought in clearly showed wear, and when I asked if she could take care of it, she smiled and said in her cute way, "No problem." Prices are a little pricey, but the service is worth it in my opinion.

July 9, 2026 I hate leaving bad reviews so much that I…read moreactually go back and delete them at later dates to not jeopardize anyone's livelihood or reputation, but this one will, hopefully, be immortalized. The first thing you need to know is that this establishment does not have a standardized list of services or prices anywhere online or in their shop. I first went to them on June 22 to have five dresses dry cleaned (quoted $79.45), one blazer dry cleaned and shortened (quoted $52.95), and one dress' zipper repaired as well as have it dry cleaned (quoted $52.99 or $29.99 depending on if the existing zipper was salvageable or needed to be replaced). The prices seemed a bit steep to me, so I told the woman at the desk, Eden, that I would shop around for a cleaner and maybe return. I decided that paying for convenience was worth it and returned on July 8 due to Barr's close proximity to my workplace. This time, I dropped off two dresses for dry cleaning/stain removal (paid $29.98), one dress to just have the zipper repaired (paid $28), and two blazers to just have shortened (paid $50 each). When I got to work, I realized that I was paying almost the exact same amount to simply have a blazer altered that I was quoted for an alteration AND dry cleaning a couple of weeks ago. I called to inquire about this and was given the runaround. A man who I suppose is the manager initially said that he did not know why the pricing was what it was then told me that it was perhaps due to some promotion going on. I asked how much the promotion was to result in the pricing nearly being equivalent, and he said 10% which still doesn't make sense. I told him so, then, presumably due to being tired of speaking with me, he told me that I could come pick up my items and receive a refund which worked perfectly fine with me. While picking up my items, Eden told me that the refund had to be processed through an accountant and that the man I spoke to before was not in at the moment to discuss things further. After getting in contact with him, he told me that the refund had been initiated and to text them my email address to receive proof of this via email. As of the afternoon of July 9, I have still not received an actual refund, confirmation of a refund, or any specific timeline for the processing of my refund. I called Barr this morning after they ignored my texts and got an AI assistant for the first time since trying to resolve this matter, so it seems I'll just be disputing these charges with my bank. These business practices are egregious, and I can only imagine how many others have been charged on a whim but did not realize and thus could not rectify matters. I cannot recommend Barr Cleaners any less. UPDATE (July 10, 2026): Barr Cleaners said they issued a refund this morning and requested my email to send me a refund receipt. I will update this review a final time when I receive the receipt. UPDATE (July 10, 2026): I received confirmation of a refund via email this afternoon. I'm glad to have this matter finally resolved, but my original rating still stands.

My Experience: I needed to get a comforter cleaned because my washer and dryer are too small to accommodate them. I dropped it off on a Wednesday morning with no issues and picked it up Thursday afternoon. The comforter was perfectly cleaned; there was not even a piece of hair or anything left on it. They even sewed up a hole from the one time I tried to wash my comforter with no extra charge! Whenever I need dry cleaning or anything tricky cleaned, I will 100% use Mass Court Cleaners.

That being said I'm so glad I came here. I needed some clothes altered and she did a wonderful job. She was very knowledgeable and chatted with me about what I wanted for the hems on the pants I needed tailored and offered really helpful input. Will definitely be a returning and frequent customer for both tailoring and dry cleaning. Also, dropped my clothes off (2 pairs of pants and a shirt) on a Tuesday and they were ready by Saturday morning. I wasn't in a rush to get them back so I was pleased with the timeliness of the service. And finally, yes, this place is expensive. But honestly, I'd rather pay more for a job well done then go anywhere else in the area and have them ruin my clothes. The reviews that are knocking the prices obviously haven't lived in DC long enough, everything here is expensive. That being said, if you're looking for a bargain, I would look elsewhere.
