The owners and staff are friendly and I learned that the candles are made locally and there are no chemicals. For other gifts, I've bought the olive oil, heart-shaped soaps. Good price at $10.00-They will gift wrap for you too--the horoscope magnets make humorous gifts too. I'm a local but I find this store one of my favorites in downtown Encinitas. Both couches have survived an 80 lb dog and a baby/toddler. They were so wonderful at helping us customize the pieces and pick fabrics that can withstand living. Multiple pieces were stained, dirty, and a three pieces had rips/holes. The shoes were piled up in heaps, and are no longer organized by size so you have to look through every pair for your size. I don't mind overpaying when the experience is quality, but these clothes are WAY overpriced and it feels like Ross meets Salvation Army. You can do better.

I did find a great dresser that was just what I needed. If I'd purchased it the day before I did buy it, I would have paid much more. I just lucked out with my timing. I sold high-quality, double and triple-matted, archival-framed artwork there, some of which were prints while others were original paintings. All of them sold for next to nothing.

Kind, warm, and welcoming. The Bad Melissa is a very subtle surprising salesperson, a very good thing, but it may lead you to purchase more than you intend. She is not pushy and listens to understand what your tastes are. This is why she is clearly good at what she does having been successful for over 30 years, but your pocketbook may not appreciate this. I highly recommend visiting her shop, just be prepared to leave with something you hadn't planned on. We don't regret it at all and will be back next time we are in the area.
