I'm a wuss when it comes to pain, especially with dental work. When he shot the back of the gum with the local anesthesia, I didn't even feel a sting. He took several minutes administering the shot as he very slowly injected the anesthetic. He explained that the sting one normally feels is due to how fast the fluid is injected. The slower, the less the fluid parts gum tissue, and therefore less sting. Then, the tooth filling itself was a walk in the park. And my nerves are very sensitive! The true test was the rest of the day and following days after the anesthetic wore off. He sure found the right tooth with a filling that was loosening from years before that was starting to cause soreness. Now, I can chomp apples and anything else without babying the right side of my mouth. Dr. Whisenant is super patient and was happy to answer my questions without rushing answers and explanations.
