If you like Chinese food and are not eating here you are insane…read more Ok. The buns. Ok the dumplings. Made daily. Perfect. Best in OC. Like so much better than DTF it's a joke. And the rest of the food is great too. Just ate the snake fish in peppers. Amazing balance. Not really spicy. You can taste the fruitiness in the peppers. And you can taste the fish. Chef is a nice guy. From the region in China where they serve a lot of the dishes. Honestly - my fave Chinese in OC. The kind of place that would have a mile long line in New York. Just simple food made perfectly. Perfectly.

Also, the utensils are a cheap plastic which I would not recommend be used in hot soup. The restaurants itself is located in a plaza near the entrance with a lot of other restaurants and an Asian supermarket. Parking can be difficult around lunch and dinner so if you do come, please plan accordingly. For this particular restaurant, there are booths along the sides with tables in the middle. When seated, you can see the menu and order via a QR code located on each table. Besides the food, the service was pretty much nonexistent. The staff are all standing around the kitchen talking loudly to each other and it's impossible to get any service unless you walk up to them and then wait for them to finish their convo. The only time any staff approached our table (besides dropping off food) was when they brought the check. Then they are all smiles and compliments as they have you pay and give tip on a electronic device that they hold onto. It wasn't a good experience dining here and I wouldn't come back to this location again.

I divide T'ai Chi into three categories: Nursing Home T'ai Chi, New Age T'ai Chi, and Traditional T'ai Chi. Now at the age of 70, and openminded on metaphysical issues, I have no problem with the first two types. But I was looking for T'ai Chi as Trace teaches it , and couldn't be happier with Heartmind. I highly recommend you try it! To be clear, I don't want to suggest that T'ai Chi in Nursing Homes. or as part of a path to enlightenment cannot be beneficial. I am sure Trace can offer both groups fine instruction. But sometimes real quality instruction is hard to find. I looked for years to find an instructor that could accommodate my orthopedic issues and still be able to teach me real t'ai chi. And now I have found such a teacher.

She's very knowledgeable and goes out of her way to show me things that may help. I had surgery earlier this year and I was able to return to class relatively quickly as class is always a safe place to figure out what works and what does not and Trace takes the time to listen to what's going on and show me how to adjust my movements so that I am not overdoing it. She also has a great voice, so soothing to listen to during practice. Know that I am not a morning person but no matter how I feel when I get up Sunday morning, I do my best to get out of the house and get to class, as I always feel better when class is done. If you've ever considered the practice of Tai Chi or Qi Gong, I highly recommend Trace and Heart Mind Tai Chi.

The negative reviews? Yeah... I'm not buying It…read more As someone with decades in martial arts--two black belts, former MMA general manager, and lifelong student of combat arts--I tend to approach any new training environment with a discerning eye. I've been around long enough to tell what's legit and what's just... noise. So when I read some of these negative reviews, I have to call BS. Or, what you perceived is not what's reality. YOUR reality maybe, but not the truth. They don't match anything I've experienced, and frankly, some of them feel suspicious. Like they were written with an agenda. Maybe by a competitor? I don't know--but what I do know is this: Nobody here has ever cold-called me, hassled me, or been anything but respectful and professional. Claims like "they just want your money" or "students don't actually know kung fu"? Completely off base. I've never heard Sifu Edwards say, "You need to learn kung fu here for self-defense," and I've definitely never seen him misrepresent what he teaches. Quite the opposite--he's honest, knowledgeable, and has a clear passion for passing on authentic Northern Eagle Claw Kung Fu. Here's my actual story. I hadn't trained in about 15 years. I've got a black belt under the legendary Shihan Gordon Doversola in Okinawa-Te, and another earned privately under Master Ylagan in Armas de Mano. I ran Old Town Fight Club in Monrovia from 2009-2012 and spent years teaching and cornering fighters in the cage. I'm not saying this to brag or to impress you, I say this to impress upon you that I've been around the block. I've fought and trained, taught (and still teach), coached, and lived martial arts. So at 58, I started searching again. Not to relive glory days, but to learn. To grow. To be a student again. That journey led me to Northern Eagle Claw Kung Fu. I visited multiple dojos. I researched styles. I read books on Master Shum Leung. When I met Sifu Edwards, his philosophy aligned perfectly with mine. Watching him teach kids? They love him. Speaking with the black belts? Their skill, humility, and loyalty spoke volumes. Everything told me I was in the right place. Now that I've been training here, I can say it with certainty: this school is the real deal. Sifu Edwards is a master - period. He's patient, precise, and passionate. The curriculum is structured, the culture is respectful, and there's real lineage behind every form and technique. I show up as a white belt every day. Even when something resembles what I've learned before, I don't insert my way, I learn his way. That's the point. Everything is different, and everything is the same. And if all goes well? Five years from now, I hope to have earned another black belt, this time in Northern Eagle Claw. Don't let shady reviews mislead you. If you're looking for an authentic martial arts experience with a great teacher, great people, and a deep tradition, this is it.
