This center provides a Korean based integrative approach to yoga, tai chi, qi gong, core body strength training, and energetic work intended to heal and tonify the mind-body-spirit. I' am impressed with the integrity of the teachers, the usefulness of the exercises, and the welcoming presence of the community. Classes tend to have between 4-8 people and are mostly people ages 40 and up. Very friendly participants at each class, and the center offers additional courses, books, and retreats, which I have not explored as of yet. Room for improvement: sometimes it feels like the teachers nudge excessively to buy a product, class, or retreat. They should scale this back and give people more space. Also, the founder of this place appears to be elevated to guru-like status, which is a big turn off for me. Despite these issues, so far, I like this place. read more

After a lower back spinal surgery, I was asked to not lift, bend or twist for 3 months about a year ago at the age of 32. As a Bollywood dancer of 10 years, I was left at my most physically vulnerable stage of my life. After 3 months of rest and some physical therapy, I began practicing light breathing and yoga at home. I missed the studio. If you're religious or spiritual, you'll understand this: after this moment in my life, I asked God for some way to get back into my body, and this time holistically - through my mind, body and spirit combined. Little would I know, I walked into the Pasadena center Summer of this year and months later knew my prayer was answered. I have been with this studio for over 6 months now and my body is back! The classes here focus on healing and strengthening. Period. From ancient practices still incorporated today to build strength from within. The masters (trainers) at this studio are also members who have been loyal to the practice themselves for over a decade. In addition, there are fantastic programs within the studio to further the practice. My back feels great, my body feels joyous and I could not be more happy to have found a studio, that for me, is a perfect transition from the bouncy Bollywood dance studio to the healing, cleansing and strengthen studio. The instructors are super nice and very loving. I would not say that it is yoga, or Thai Chi specific. It's a different type of exercise, which is a great way to relieve stress. However, you always seemed pressured to either pay for a workshop or pay for personalized individual sessions. Even though you express that you do not want to have different workshops or individualized treatments, the attitude is respectful, but they do not stop pressuring you to continue with an additional workshop that is pricey. You may say no I don't want, and they always make sure to let you know that "it is your choice"-"It is up to you," but even though you continue to say no, they continue on pressuring you to pay for another workshop or individualized treatment because they see that " you need it."Regardless, if you have a stern no. I paid for a whole year which was almost $2000. Due to the added pressure given in joining extra Workshops that are not under your contract and have a high fee. I have stopped attending. It is not a very relaxing time. I feel anxiety when I go only because I know that I will be continued to be pressured to take additional workshops and personalized treatments. They also have a master that invented this type of yoga and brain workout, who is viewed as a powerful being. They will also pressure you into going to workshops to meet this person. Again, even if you say no, they will continue and try to convince you that you need it because he is a beautiful being with tremendous love that radiates towards everything. --I don't like to be pressured, and I feel anxiety when I get there, so unfortunately, I stopped going there because of this. I feel bad, because I wasted a lot of money for the year, but again, I do not like to feel pressured. I do want to mention that the staff and the master are super nice people. I just think that they have to try to get people to pay for other workshops and personalized treatments in order to gain status or maybe financial gain. read more

I've done a few 1:1 sessions with Dahari and I highly recommend her. I've had a lasting impact from my experience with her. She's simply amazing and loves to ask questions and dig deeper. This is only for rich retired people who have never taken a yoga class, are completely inactive and want a new cult leader. You'll get his book (for a fee), and then get lots of hugs from center staff, but will be expected to pay quite a lot for classes, workshops, that frequently have ridiculous moves that do not consider various types of injuries or limitations, the way that a regular yoga instructor would. It's a cult, they care about money and you'd be better off anywhere else. read more

I've been coming here for three months, and I love it! It's not a typical yoga class, but that's what I like about it. The new center has a bigger training room. Been a member at the Pasadena center for a lil over a year. After doing the two most common exercises in Dahn Yoga everyday after waking up in the a.m., I'm more focused and don't get acid reflux in the middle of the night when I go to bed on a full stomach. These exercises are unsual because it involves healing the internal organs and not just strenghtening one's core muscles. As a bonus for doing these exercises the spiritual growth becomes possible thru brain wave vibration. On top of that one learns about the seven chakras and meridian channels of the human body. For me this is the complete package because it addresses mind, body, and spirit. Although I moved out of California, I still consider this my sanctuary. read more

The online courses provided variety of stretching, strengthening, mind and body conditioning and balance exercises. What started out as me procrastinating in redeeming a Groupon turned out to be a life-changing experience. Dahn Yoga is different from the yoga I've tried in the past. It's simple, but challenging at times. However...the staff are pushy in trying to get you to attend pricey workshops. They try to make you believe that everything that is good in your life is because of them; and everything negative is because you're not joining more workshops. They tried to guilt me about visiting family for the holidays instead of attending class. Many reasons led me to discover that this is a cult. I'm glad I found out sooner than later. read more

I've been coming to Body and Brain in Pasadena for several years, and attended numerous workshops and retreats. Although I have practiced various forms of yoga for the past 30 years, I find this combination of traditional poses, breathing, Tai Chi, more vigorous movement, and meditation to be the most beneficial for my mental and physical health. Master Dahari is wise beyond his years, is an excellent instructor, and has a sparkling sense of humor. Master Michelle is a very insightful healer, and is very compassionate and kind. All the masters whom I have met, whether in Pasadena, Glendale, or Sedona, have been skilled professionals and treated me with respect and caring. When I leave a class I always feel a lot less tired and much less stressed than when I walked in. Even though I have tried all types of yoga, this particular yoga allows me to stretch, become more flexible, increase my balance and focus. I went to Dahn Yoga for the Tai Chi class and I've been a member almost a year. I have yet to take a Tai Chi class due to my deep enjoyment of Dahn Yoga that they offer.
