The best setting for yoga with one of the most compassionate yogis around!
    Thomas E.

I began attending classes at The Root Cause Yoga back in fall 2021. I had just moved back to SoCal to start a new chapter in life, and was looking to get healthy and grounded. Kathy, was the first person I met who helped guide me to the best shape I've ever been in. (See my reviews for 7Elements of Balance and Ganbatte fitness for the rest of my "team") I had very little yoga experience previously, but Kathy is great about tailoring her classes to each individual's needs. Not only that, she'll remember the specifics, so even if you have been away for awhile, she will know where to pick things up again. Aside from being a super-attentive, caring, hands on, and hands down knowledgable yogi, she also genuinely cares about people and her local community. She often teaches yoga classes and seminars at various community events, and when the weather is nice, even organizes monthly potlucks for us. Attending one of Kathy's classes outdoors in Garfield Park is therapeutic in and of itself. The sun, fresh air, sounds of the trees... and doggies! (We share the park with our four-legged friend after all, and they help bring great energy as well) Once in awhile, Kathy will integrate sound bowls into the session which, in this nurturing setting, brings the experience to a whole other level. I highly recommend The Root Cause Yoga to all!

Kathy is a great yoga teacher and also a great person. I've been going to yoga classes with Kathy for about 2 years now and I really recommend her. One of the things that I like about her classes is her calming voice. She also has a sweet dog, Marley, who I see in her classes.

    Picnic after class.

We had a private party booked so I wasn't too worried about leaving my stuff in the locker area. There are no locks in the locker area by the way. I think it may be better to try the sound bath at night or if they lights were turned off. It was pretty bright and when the instructor mentioned the white light, I only see light from the window above me. My coworkers saw colors during the sound bath. I've been a long time member of Corepower so I've had my fair share of hot yoga, and it makes me appreciate the way that hot 8 operates - they have multiple types of classes - I tried Strength, Yin, Sculpt, and they're all fantastic. The membership feels so worth it because of the variety of classes and the multiple rooms/times available. I will definitely be returning. Shout out to the front desk staff - they helped me solve issues with my booking process (my fault) and were so kind/patient when exposing the different classes to me. Oh and shoutout to Allison Chiang - the Strength instructor. She brought the energy and spent time on form correction. So key! Finally - there's free parking with validation in the building! Makes it so easy to commit to the practice.

It felt that I was being hounded after each class to purchase a membership. I had a conversation with a specific female staff where I said IF I were to purchase one, I would do the 5 class pack but I wasn't sure so I would let the staff know later that weekend. I never signed any forms or gave consent during that conversation. Towards the end of my welcome week, I decided to sign up for the unlimited monthly membership that I consented for and signed forms. The next day I found that my account was charged twice for two different memberships for the next month, one that was unlimited monthly (I consented for) and one 5 class monthly membership (didn't consent for). Luckily my concerns were addressed by the assistant studio manager in a professional and timely manner. I understand they will try to get you to sign up and share specials, which are helpful, but make sure to have staff give you forms for memberships that you want to sign up for. Hoping all the staff will be educated on improvements in this department. Besides this experience, the classes and instructors are great.

I absolutely love this studio, mainly because in most classes, I LEARN something about my body…read more Paul's classes, especially, offer such depth and understanding of biomechanics. Nothing beats the intelligence of the Iyengar system, imho! I will say that Paul has a unique way of balancing his precise knowledge with a very spacious accommodation, which is TRULY the art of an engaged teacher. However, there are other instructors here (I won't name names) that unfortunately trigger my sympathetic nervous system with their tone, and overuse of the word "should." As much as I try to get past this, my breath and body just become tight, and I don't move as freely with overly managed instruction. Yoga House could be one of the last studios on the Eastside that uphold the integrity of a yogic learning environment. As a yogi of 25 years, and an instructor myself, I recommend the Iyengar classes to anyone working to heal injuries and those who want to deepen their practice. It's not a miracle, but a more serious approach to yoga can be transformative, on many levels.

A True Sanctuary for Mind, Body, and Spirit…read more I can't say enough wonderful things about Pasadena Yoga House! I recently attended the class for people with mobility challenges, led by the incredible Peggy, and it was truly a transformative experience. As someone living with Lupus and Muscular Dystrophy, finding a movement space where I feel safe, seen, and supported has been a long journey. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed--not just by the staff, but by the beautiful community that gathers here. There's a genuine warmth in the room that you can feel, and Peggy's presence and guidance made all the difference. She was patient, attentive, and so compassionate, offering helpful adjustments and making sure each student felt comfortable and included. The studio is clean, calm, and absolutely beautiful. They offer plenty of props to support your practice, and the meditation beginning and at the end of class was the perfect way to wind down and reconnect with myself. It's rare to find a space that honors both your limitations and your potential--but Pasadena Yoga House does just that. If you're looking for a welcoming, inclusive, and healing space to move, breathe, and just be--you've found it. I wholeheartedly recommend this studio to anyone, especially those with mobility challenges or chronic conditions. I left feeling lighter, supported, and truly at home.

But…read moreupon attending my second class in April 2026 I had to take three minutes before class to fill out a parking validation form on my phone, asking for a ton of information as part of their new parking policy. The validation is for 58 minutes and doesn't even cover a whole class and time it takes to get back to your car (see the receipt attached below). This is an important detail because the building that hosts Pasadena Corepower (Residences at Westgate, owned by Greystar LLC) contracts with a predatory tow agency called Metro Towing. Warning: Metro Towing will absolutely tow your car if they have any chance. They did this to my friend, and CorePower staff lamented it had happened to numerous others, including the instructors. Go to the Metro Towing Yelp page and you can see how this company makes its money. The cost of getting your car back will be at least $530, and Metro Towing company is incredibly rude and dismissive when you call them. To be clear: the most troubling part of this whole towing situation is the complacent "oh well!" attitude taken by CorePower management. Their guests and instructors are getting their cars towed and they don't seem to even care! They put a small update on their formal website saying you now need to validate your parking- but honestly, who checks the website before taking a class? (By contrast, the facility where I play indoor soccer sent out SIX emails over two weeks with detailed maps showing where exactly to park in order not to get towed by neighboring businesses. That is how you get out in front of things and take care of your guests, even when the parking situation isn't yours to manage like it is here.) I have somewhat mixed feelings leaving a poor review, because this is really about management and not the instructors. But Pasadena Corepower Yoga and Greystone LLC (the building owner) have made the decision to stand by a predatory towing company, and therefore folks taking classes should be on notice. If you linger after your workout to shower or have a conversation with someone, you are putting yourself at great risk to lose your car and $530- even if you followed the validation rules parking your car. It makes no sense to me that a yoga studio of all places would nurture this kind of environment, but here we are.

This is a yoga class where you mostly focus on "restorative" yoga poses. The class itself is very slow paced and very chill. It didn't feel like a super intense workout that a lot of the hot yoga classes I usually take are like - there were no downward dogs or ab intensive yoga moves / flows. In addition, since this wasn't hot yoga, the room wasn't a sweltering 100+ degrees. The yoga instructor (I think her name was Francine) was very nice and super knowledgeable. She's also really hands-on and will come to help you or adjust your body if it's not quite right (which I really appreciate)!
