Marjon Ceramics definitely has every kind of clay under the sun, but unfortunately, the customer service was harder to mold. The gentleman who "assisted" me had the energy of a hipster bartender lecturing you about hops, except this was about dirt. The condescending tone made the whole interaction way heavier than it needed to be. At the end of the day, it's clay, not a heart transplant. A little less ego and a little more kindness would turn this place from intimidating to inspiring. read more

Amii was super sweet and helpful and so very kind even when I had a lot of questions. She was not pushy or dismissive when I asked about prices, and listened when I babbled about what I was trying to accomplish. She even took the time to explain glaze methods used on pieces around the store and told me about upcoming events. I wish the classes were handicap accessible because Amii was so encouraging and taking a class at a pottery shop would save time/gas. read more

I ordered from Marjon Ceramics on 10/21/25. I ordered 10 Skutt bricks and 5 Skutt Elements, a over $500 order. On 10/22/25, I receive an email stating there is a problem with the order. When I call them, they do not know who placed the order because there was no order number nor the person's name who place the order. Yet, somehow this is my fault? Do not order from this company as they are totally incompetent. When I asked the person what was their SOP (Standard Operating Procedure, the person on the phone laughed and said, "That is rich." They are totally clueless and are not a real company. read more

Another trip to Marjon from west valley to find they had closed earlier than posted on their website and on their front door (on Saturday). The good news is I ended up discovering Blick Art Supplies in Glendale. They carry the clay, glazes and supplies I use - and cheaper than Marjon or Amazon. read more

I have been coming to Marjon for many years and this is the go to place for your pottery/ceramics needs in Maricopa County. All staff is very knowledgeable from clay needs, to equipment and paints. Good customer service, they love questions and will take the time to answer or get the answer to them. The first couple of times I have gone to this location I felt uncomfortable. Yet, the staff is very knowledgeable and friendly once you break the ice and talk cerámica. I hobbled in to Marjon's on my crutches this week and can report no change in the great service and inventory they have to offer. I found out they are about the only store in the area that offers what they do. They had a competitor that isn't around any longer. I think that's important to know. I've been in stores where if you don't like it to bad because you almost have to go there and put up with whatever-NOT Marjon's. Also, I have to say that the service they give on the phone is equally pleasant. They are really one of my backups for my art work which is getting more involved. I'm taking a ceramics class in college and I know NOTHING about clay or any necessary supplies. My professor gave out a very basic list of items needed for the class with no descriptions. I went in and let the girls behind the counter know that I knew nothing and needed clay. They were so helpful and gave me some descriptions of what to expect with a few different types of clay. This was so awesome that they cater to seasoned, talented artists and brand new confused people! I feel so much more confident for my class now that I've had some help. read more

I have been buying my clay and other supplies here for the last 4 years, mostly because there are no other pottery shops in Phoenix, not because I prefer Marjon because I don't! I have spent 1000s of dollars here and most of the staff treats me like I am an incontinence! Save for one or 2 of thier employees, they are snobbish, inpatient and down right rude. I purchased clay that was rock hard and they were unwilling to assist in anyway stating, "we don't do returns on clay" and offering me no advice or help. At this point, I will pay for shipping to purchase my supplies for providers out of state rather than being treated so rudely! Danny and Anna are great at customer service and should teach their employers how to treat customers! read more

All the staff have been amazing here! I have been a customer for 14 years. They are always more than happy to answer questions on products, or recommend alternatives, even if it means they are not selling a product. Dean is very supportive with kilns and equipment. EJ has shard glaze recipes. Elaine and the whole staff is fantastic. This last fall they were particularly helpful in special ordering an item for me as well as getting a foot pedal that is no longer produced for an older model Brent wheel. The staff, especially Jackie, are a godsend to a novice. I have learned so much from them and they are very helpful in choosing the right glazes and tools. The store is well stocked. Turn around times for firing clay is very reasonable and I often get a courtesy call when they are ready. Prices also reasonable. read more

I love this place! The customer service has improved greatly over the past two years. The staff is knowledgable and generous with sharing of experience with products. I also like thatt they reccomend the best product, even when there are more expensive options. If they dont have it, they will order it. Recently I ordered a part for my kiln, they asked if I was in a hurry for the part, since I was not, they combined my order with another shipment and I did not have any shipping charges. I have a degree in ceramics and have shown in multiple galleries all over the country. Unfortunately, there is not another place in town to get supplies. Everyone there treats their clients like crap. They are entitled assholes. I have never been treated like an equal. Save the trip and your money. Dean has no idea what he is doing and takes "his cut." He takes a lot of money for him to ruin your kilns. Go someplace else. read more

I have dealt with Marjon for over 20 years as a artist and a High School Ceramics teacher. The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable and they always try to help you fill your order if something is not in stock. Dean over the years has always either helped me fix my kilns at school or over the phone had patiently walked me through problems and tried to solve them. Agree with the other 1-star reviews. I was in negotiation to buy a used kiln through Dean Vickery. After a couple of emails back and forth I was ready to buy but was waiting for a response to one item. This was on 2-23. I followed up twice by email, with no response. I finally called on 3-6. The person answering the phone said he was in and to hold. He then came back and said Dean wasn't available. I left a message about the potential kiln sale. Still no response a day and a half later. If that's the way they treat someone on a sale, I can imagine how it would go if you had a problem with something! I'll give up the pottery hobby before I ever deal with these people again. read more

I was a bit disappointed with their customer service. We went in on a Tuesday when they were not busy yet they would not take the time to show us there to find items in the store (all they did was point across the room to general locations). There were many employees in the place, but they all seemed to be taking inventory or stocking shelves. Their attitude may be due to the lack of competition in the area. You need to call ahead (24hrs) with your order, so they can put it together. At least, someone loaded the 100lbs of clay into our car. We were thankful for that. read more

I recently bought my wife a Shimpo VL Whisper from another supplier only to have UPS completely damage it before it arrived. So i sent that one back, and called Marjon Ceramics. I was talking to the manager on the phone and she said yes they have one, i can come down and buy, eliminating the shipping. When we got there and they looked for it, there was only a floor model. So if course i asked what happened to the one i was told about on the phone. The manager said "well i never said i had one in a box" REALLY? How unprofessional can you be? The gentleman with the beard is ALWAYS rude, why be in customer service man? Way to ruin a decent sale guys. I'm taking my business elsewhere. read more

The business does not support children learning the arts. They greatly discourage it by frowning on children being anywhere on the premises at any time.. I choose to support businesses that are supportive of children learning the arts and nurturing the artistic spirit of all ages. I will be finding a new location to shop. read more
