Not your typical Mexican restaurant and I mean that in a good way. If you're looking for a burrito/enchilada/taco combo with refried beans and rice, this isn't the place. If you want great seafood served in a traditional style, this is it. I knew right away when I walked in the door that this place was authentic. It's so hard to find a real chile relleno around here, and I got excited when I read their menu online that described what sounded like a real one indeed and mentioned that it was roasted in the oven. So off we went on a recent Friday night. We were greeted and sat at a booth. Husband ordered a Diet Coke but didn't complain when they brought him a real Coke as it was the Mexican version in a bottle and he was curious to try it. Liked it. I had a glass of chardonnay that must not be a common order as it took awhile to get and was served warm. Thankfully I had water and was able to dig some ice out for my wine. Husband ordered a burrito. I of course got the chile rellenos with beans and rice. Chips and salsa were good. Husband loved his burrito. At first I loved the rellenos, but they clearly had been fried and not roasted (which they usually are anyway), but as a result they were on the greasy side. By the second one, I was taking the batter off. Beans and rice were quite good. Next time I'll probably stick with what they are known for...seafood. Note: they have a robot that brings your food, but it is accompanied by a person who does put it on your table. Very cool! The bar area was really hopping with music and singing and folks sounding like they were having a terrific time. Great food and atmosphere. Our servers were great. But they immediately ask when you sit down if you want a fruit juice such as pineapple. They DO NOT tell you it costs $10 for a small jug. I'm assuming I'm just gonna get regular cup of fruit juice with ice, but nooooo. They casually push an extra $10 on you in this shady manner. Come on, just be up front and honest. This has to be the top 1 Mexican restaurant in NC. And one of the best restaurants overall. This place was too good and reminded me of one of my favorite restaurants in Cabo San Lucas. I want EVERYONE to go here because the food will blow your mind!! For starters, the staff was all super friendly from the host to our servers. It was definitely packed but we also went on a saturday night. The drinks are amazing!! I'm someone who usually thinks all margaritas taste the same but their margarita flight and frozen margaritas were outstanding. They give you complimentary tostada with fish which I thought was very unique. We got the pescado zarandeado which was snapper grilled on a flame, camarones brass, and two shrimp tacos. Our friends got the camarones brass with a lobster tail and the shrimp wrapped in bacon which they loved. The prices were amazing for the portion of food they give you and the food came with a buttery piece of texas toast and a side of rice and veggies, fries, refried beans, or salad. The pescado zarandeado stole the entire show. Aside from the massive plate that could feed two or three people, the fish was one of the best I ever had. Super flavorful and grilled to perfection. I don't think I could come here again and not order it. The camarones brass were so good and tasted unlike any other shrimp dish you'll find anywhere else. If you're here to order shrimp I'd definitely recommend this plate. The ACC (ACP but with shrimp) also looked good. The shrimp tacos... now THAT is what a taco is. We visited this restaurant for Valentine's Day because the promotion advertised live music, and we were interested in trying their food. Upon arrival, we quickly noticed that the waitress was unfamiliar with the menu. My wife ordered the Lobster al Gusto and specifically asked if it contained almejas (clams), as she doesn't like them. The waitress assured her it didn't, but when the dish arrived, it was full of clams. I ordered the Cowboy Steak, which was advertised as a 16oz cut. I eat steak regularly and consider myself quite knowledgeable about portion sizes, and this was nowhere near 16oz--more like 10-12oz. That said, the taste was good. For my boys, I ordered the Kids Pepperoni Pizza, which turned out to be a low-quality, microwaveable pizza--shockingly priced at $15 each. For my daughter, I ordered the Arroz con Pollo. The menu description simply stated "rice and chicken," but what we received was more of a cheese soup with rice and chicken. We had to send it back. The drinks were good. However, the "live music" wasn't what we expected--it was a guy walking table to table with a portable karaoke setup, charging $20 for four songs. Our bill came out to $321 (not including the music fee) for: * 1 Lobster * 1 Steak * 2 Margaritas * 1 Arroz con Pollo (which was returned) * 2 microwave pizzas Overall, the experience was disappointing, especially given the price. The menu is a little confusing and there were options of food that was not on the menu and there were foods listed with no prices, but the waitress was sweet and answered all of my 12 questions. Hubby and I shared the shrimp tacos and the ceviche Nayarit. Both dishes were amazing. The shells of the tacos were cooked to perfection and the shrimp and other stuff inside the tacos were so flavorful. I would have liked a side of fries and for the price of the meal it should come with them. The ceviche brought me back to my childhood in Lima, Peru. It has just the right amount of lime and spices and the mango updated this old favorite of mine. I just loved this dish. Def by far the best ceviche I have had in NC. I am already planning to try the flight of margaritas next. This is a fun, delicious restaurant with sweet efficient staff and super clean. I can't wait to return. read more

Such a fun special occasion type of place for Mexican seafood. Platters looked amazing! We just got appetizers but it was plenty enough to fill us up. As soon as you sit down we were served with complimentary tuna ceviche or or something like that with a side of fried tortillas. My spicy shrimp appetizer was amazing and so flavorful! Carol and I stopped here on the way home from the Raleigh-Durham airport. She had chicken soup. I had Huachinanga de Serandeado. It is a lot of red snapper, a whole one. One person can hardly eat the whole thing, I certainly could not. I ate about half and took the other half home. This dish is very hard to find in the USA. And this place, about 15 minutes from our home, has it! I will be back. Carol liked her chicken soup was special made for her, not on the menu. We went out of curiosity to celebrate Valentine's Day cause a friend of mine recommended the place, I was really disappointed with the place. The waitress did not provide good service; she didn't know the dishes. I asked about specific ingredients in the dishes, to which she responded that there was no problem (I don't like clams or scallops). The dish I ordered, "langosta al gusto" (lobster to taste), did not mention them in the description, but I asked to avoid misunderstandings. They told me it only contained what was listed in the description, but it had clams, scallops, and crawfish. I'm not the type of person who confronts or likes to argue, so I simply set them aside and continued eating, but most of the filling was precisely clams and scallops. I ordered food for my children--two pizza dishes--and was shocked when they brought the plates to the table. It was a deep-dish pizza like the frozen Red Baron ones you can buy in bulk, with fries (cost $15.00). There weren't even two; they didn't try to add anything or put a twist on it. The third dish for a child was rice with chicken; there was no description of the dish. I thought it was simply Mexican rice with chicken, but no, the dish arrived drenched in cheese sauce. My daughter (2 years old) didn't touch it, and I gave her some of my plate because she was very hungry, and we ended up returning the rice with cheese sauce. We tried to explain to the waitress kindly what happened; there was no attempt to fix the situation; she simply said, "hay que pena"("Oh, what a shame.") The best part of the place was the drinks (the margaritas); they were delicious, and my husband's dish, which was a steak cooked to his requested doneness. That's why I gave it 2 stars. The price was high, especially considering the number of mishaps. They charged me for the dish that wasn't consumed, the pizzas that I could buy a 12-pack for $12, and my dish that, easily in another mindset and not on Valentine's Day, I would have returned. I'm a huge fan of seafood and not many Mexican restaurants in the area has an as extensive of seafood menu as this place has (from different kinds of ceviches, fish tacos, fried fish, and grilled seafood such as lobster, squid and octopus!) This seafood bowl is good for 2 people, and is served with rice, salad, and salsa. It has a whole fried fish, several mussels, clams, shrimp, snow crab legs, and octopus legs. It is seasoned with a good concoction of spices (but not too spicy) and it is just such a delight for a seafood lover like me. It was a lot of food and we even took some leftovers home. We went on a weekday dinner and it was not busy at all, and the service is okay. The ambiance seems good for big family and big group gatherings as well since they have plenty of seating. I am surprised to see below 4 stars for this restaurant. I admittedly was not excited about this choice for a family dinner based on reviews here, but it was chosen by the guest of honor so I obliged. The inside of this restaurant almost feels touristy, very cute with huge fish and sharks, netting, and other seaside items decorating the inside. The staff in front greeted me right away with smiles and took me to a table for our party of 8. We came in on a Tuesday around 7pm, but pretty empty with 2-3 other tables on our dining area. While waiting on the rest of my party I ordered the Ultimate Margarita ($13.99). The drink was huge and came out with a cute little duck on it! Other drinks at the table later had other really fun flair to make it unique. Like other Mexican restaurants in the area, they bring out chips and salsa. I liked that they gave everyone a small salsa of their own (2oz plastic ramekin) but the salsa was not my favorite. A bit spicy. Unlike other restaurants with similar cuisine, the menu was kind of a mess. There were no appetizers to choose from (guac, queso, calamari being also a seafood joint, etc). But they did have chicken wings on the menu? Also no real kids menu with offerings similar to that of the menu - like a kid's quesadilla. They offered normal options such as chicken tenders which I thought was strange, but also good for small picky eaters. I got the Texanas fajitas. A ton of food, very good. Meat was tender. My nephew got the arros con camarones with queso on the side (so they do actually have queso!) and I used that with my meal. The only thing I think was negative about the food we had was the prices. Seemed pretty expensive overall. My fajitas were $19. My niece had 3 plain steak tacos that were $24. As for the seafood here, a main attraction that sets it apart from other like restaurants, they have a lot of options to choose from. My mom got the whole fried fish and really loved it. Can't speak to any other options. They did have the sweetest man singing and playing the guitar. He fled Venezuela to come here. He was so nice and talented! Definitely added to our experience. Also - THEY HAVE A ROBOT THAT PLAYS MUSIC AND DELIVERS FOOD TO YOUR TABLE! I really thought this was cool, and also a great way to get food out to customers if you are short staffed or busy! We fully lucked into this spot last night. It happened to be close, we happen to want Mexican. And the outside lights are cute. Inside is a fairly large seating area broken up into different rooms. You can tel from the decor that their specialty is seafood. The name give a that away of you are a Spanish speaker. Instead of chips and salsa, we were served a complimentary ceviche and toasted tostadas. They were both fresh and tasty. Also a pleasant surprise. Most of the menu isin Spanish but the pictures are there to help. Loads of different seafood so maybe be try something new. We stucknwith some tried and true pics past night. Husband had the carne asada burrito and I had the nachos supreme. Both were delish. His meat was tender and the white cheese sauce had great flavor. My nachos where amazing. Huge and loaded with beef, chicken, cheese and beans. I ate the leftovers with eggs this morning. Here is the only catch. They offered my husband a 34 oz draft beer after he asked for the specials. Unknown to us, that was a $13 beer. That one beer was more than our dinner. Not that is wasn't tasty, but maybe a heads up would have been nice. Forget everything you think you know about Mexican food in Raleigh. The game has been raised. The food here rivals places I've been in Miami, the Caribbean, and Cozumel. Fresh seafood in creative, authentic dishes. We had the Tuna Carnitas as an appetizer. I doubted they could get that real crispy carnita taste on the outside without over cooking the tuna. They nailed it - crispy outside, nice pink moist fish on the inside, served over guacamole. For our mains we split the shrimp & mango ceviche and the shrimp tacos. Ceviche this good could be served in a martini glass in Southbeach for $45, but we got a plate twice that size for half that price. The shrimp tacos didn't disappoint either - great grilled texture on the outside, with a cheesy shrimp herb filling that reminded me of a stuffed lobster filling. Service was great too. The Setting The first thing you notice driving up is the bright colors on the outside. No missing this place. Bright and festive and happy. Inside, the music is LOUD and we finally asked them to turn it down as we couldn't hear each other! It sounded more like a bar on Friday night than a restaurant. They turned it down but not enough for dining in my opinion. The menu is extensive and you can order very authentic mexican fare, fresh fish, live lobster, etc. or you can turn to the Tex/Mex pages in the back and get something more in line with American/Mexican. This is where we went as pictures of whole fish with heads did not appeal and I didn't want to order something that was too spicy. The Food Chips and Salsa: Small basket of chips and one small bowl of salsa. Both were delicious but separate bowls of salsa would help to prevent the passing on of germs. We didn't double dip but really wanted to. Quesadilla: Onions and peppers are cooked perfectly with the peppers cut pretty small so they are easy to eat. The chicken is moist and tender. Everything was wonderful. Carne Asada Burrito: I ordered water with a LOT of ice and no lemon. My glass arrived dirty and with barely any ice at all. I sent it back and explained to the waitress again what I wanted. She's just learning English and is trying hard to get it right so no negative points on that at all but the dirty glass... hmmmm. I also ordered this burrito because it came with the requisite refried beans and rice on the side. I asked for no Quac salad. I got salad with sour cream on top (???) and no beans. I sent it back explaining what I had ordered. I got barely warm refried beans in a cup with no cheese melted on top. Hmmm, weird but I let it pass because this poor girl was trying and it must have just been an off day in the kitchen. We've been here before and it's always been really good. The ribeye steak in the burrito was plentiful and very tender. Topped with queso made it even better. Mexican rice had great flavor and was cooked perfectly. Point was taken off for this meal as there is just no excuse for a dirty glass or the pitiful excuse for the refried beans. The Check We got our separate checks and all was well. Our waitress explained about learning English and asked us to bear with her in so many words. Then she said it was a pleasure to take care of us. She was charming and smiling the entire time and very nice. No negative points for her as she was lovely. We'll definitely go back but maybe on a day when it isn't so busy or just go earlier to beat the lunch crowd. This place is worth the visit. Recently went with family. Loved the food options & music. Order the flautas.. the chicken was good but the steak was very very very dry. That & how loud it was is my only complaint (though I do understand there was a lot of birthdays) my husbands enchiladas were really good. Rice was a little tasteless.
