    Mojarra

Came for dinner here tonight. The restaurant is very authentic, clean, service is nice, and the food is great too. They gave us chips and salsa when we sat down. Their salsa is delicious and thats when I knew this place has to be good :) I ordered Torta de camaron con huevos y papas, and my friend got the mojarra. Torta was delicious. The shrimp and eggs were cooked perfectly, and the bread was super super fresh and soft. It came with a side of fries and some pickled peppers and carrots that I love sooo much. I tried the Mojarra too, and it was really good. A little over fried for my taste, but the flavor was still there. Would definitely come back.

Ceviche. Spicy salsa. Chip's. Topo Chico.

It was my 1st time in here for food, which is odd since I have lived right down the street for almost 5 years. Good grief woman, get your foodie butt in gear. Well heck, better late than never, as the saying goes. The first week of July, the wicked summer heat waves are bouncing off the steamy black asphalt. And it's hot. And it's humid. There's nothing in my refigerator that I want to eat. And shopping for food requires more energy than I have at the moment. An early morning walk has my hip and tail bone sore and aching. Gee weez, falling apart already. Trying to be healthy, fit, and exercise and wind up in pain. I cannot win. So after finishing with my car tire issue, I head into this local spot for a refreshing light lunch and cool drink. Topo Chico served ice cold with several lime wedges to start. A nice basket of fresh tortilla chips with spicy salsa to knosh on while my main lunch is being made. Their house made salsa is a strong 3.5 heat index out of 5. It's color and consistency looks like queso, but it's salsa. Which is great to me, smooth, spicy, and fewer calories works for my palette and waist line. Oh yeah!! Nancy, my server was so friendly. So polite and warm, what a treat to talk to someone so nice. She brought out my seafood ceviche really quick, checked on me regularly, and brought out my receipt when I asked for a to go container. Smooth as silk. Everything was delicious. I will definitely be back in soon. It's a few more months of hot humid sticky I don't want to cook or shop for food weather. Oh Texas, can you just rain everyday and keep the temperature down 20 degrees. That would be fantastic!!

Everything was good, specially the Mariscada, cocktails, and the soups. The plates are always topped with lots of delicious food.

I came in mainly to watch the game and have a few beers, but the service was so good you'd think I had ordered the entire menu instead of just casually committing crimes against the free chips and salsa. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and made me feel very welcome. Honestly, if they treat a guy this well for drinking beer and demolishing complimentary chips, I can only imagine what happens if you actually order food. Definitely made me want to come back hungry. The restaurant seemed warm and inviting with all the natural light, but as the meal progressed, there were quite a few misses that degraded the overall experience here. First, they didn't really have much in the way of non-alcoholic drinks except for sodas, which I typically don't drink. I wanted a flavored lemonade or an agua fresca. The waiter said they had lemonade and they could add some mango flavoring, but when I go the drink, it was terrible. It was like a Countrytime or something to that effect. I couldn't taste the mango flavoring. The waiter was kind enough to offer to remake the drink when he realized I didn't like it, but it was the same again, so I gave up. It just tasted so artificial and gross. For my entree, I ordered an enchilada plate with scrambled eggs and potatoes. The first time it came out wrong. It was beef enchiladas and not the cheese that was listed on the menu. Then they brought out my plate again and it was now covered in queso. According to the menu, it was a cheese enchilada with chili con carne, but I didn't want to raise the issue. I was really hungry at this point and just accepted it. The food was okay...2 1/2 or 3 star territory. The restaurant itself was pretty cool. I like the location and the abundance of natural light, but the miscommunications with the kitchen and the generic lemonade drink exposed some real opportunities here.

Would return for drinks only and time with the bartender Devonte who was all vibes. We loved all the food we ordered. From the one hitters to the dessert. 5/5 Stars Everything…read moreabout my dinner at El Carlos Elegante was exceptional. Rather than ordering à la carte, I chose the Elegante Experience, a four-course chef-curated tasting menu that concludes with dessert for $99 per person. The menu evolves with the seasons, allowing the kitchen to showcase its freshest ingredients and current specialties, so every visit has the potential to be a little different. For the quality of the ingredients, creativity, and execution, I thought it was an outstanding value. Every course was beautifully prepared and packed with flavor. Not a single dish felt like an afterthought. The house-made masa program and wood-fired cooking really shine throughout the meal, and it's easy to see why this restaurant has earned such a strong reputation. The service was prompt, attentive, and genuinely courteous without ever feeling rushed. The atmosphere strikes a rare balance, it feels refined while still being warm, familial, and incredibly inviting. If you're ordering a cocktail, I highly recommend the El Dragón. It paired perfectly with the meal and is worth trying. I've uploaded several photos with this review be sure to flip through them to get an idea of just how beautiful the presentation is. El Carlos Elegante is one of those restaurants that reminds you a tasting menu doesn't have to be intimidating or overpriced. It simply delivers outstanding food, excellent hospitality, and an experience that feels well worth the price. I'll definitely be back.

So thinking we showed up for our reservation, this location says they don't take reservations. They stop at is anyway, which was nice. We were seated on the porch, and here's where things got weird. We ordered our drinks and when the drinks were delivered, we said we were ready to order, and the waitress, hesitated and then said she would be back. Kinda strange, but eventually we had our order taken. I ordered a mango agua fresca which was pretty good. The complementary chips and salsas were also really good. For an entree I had the Tempura Fried Fish Tacos. These were very good and the coleslaw served with them was very good- crunch and bright. Overall the food here is pretty solid.
