Visiting from Chicago, and I haven't had good Mexican food since leaving California. I found this location and was greeted by this young gentleman and immediately made me feel welcomed. I was a little worried about this place at first. I had never heard of it and I wasn't sure how much I would get for the prices advertised. Upon walking in, the staff was incredibly friendly. You're greeted before the door opens completely, which is REFRESHING. They immediately start to dress the table as you choose from the open seating. They have outdoor seating, but it was rainy and we opted for inside. The outdoor area is decorated in an Arizona/Mexico theme with tin lizards and crabs. Quite cool. Inside, we were greeted and waited on by the manager Nuri (hopefully I spelled that correctly) and Chuy. They're great! The ambiance was perfect. There is Spanish music and videos on all screens and speakers. It was so nice. They have happy hours and weekly deals. Check out the menu. The food was hot, fresh, and well-seasoned. I ordered the Cajun pasta with shrimp and Cajun fries...with shrimp. Both fantastic. I had to stop myself from overeating. My two dinner mates ordered the crab boil and shrimp boil. The potatoes were fantastic! Also, we ordered rice and chips and queso. All fantastic. We got shots and frozen drinks and those were perfect. I will say to avoid the Mexican Mule. The cup is festive, but not much alcohol. The other drinks are where it's at. I implore you to check this place out. I love places that are authentic and make you feel embraced. I met my friend for dinner and was excited to try it! She is from Mexico and says it is the most authentic Mexican seafood you can get around here. We ordered the ceviche/seafood tower in the verde sauce and cooked mussels. Ceviche is fresh, well seasoned and very good. I would come back just for the aguachile. It wasn't too spicy and the lime was just right. I had issues with the cooked mussels in red sauce. The sauce tasted great but the mussels were severely over cooked and rubbery. I couldn't eat it but my friend has a stomach of steel so she finished the dish. Even though the mussels were so not the tastiest, the sauce was very good! I normally would give this place three stars because of the mussels but my friend wasn't offended by it and ate it all even though she agreed they were over cooked haha. There were other pros, too. The portions are very generous so come with an appetite. Everything on the menu also looked delicious. The service was quick and they were also very kind. We ended up staying after they closed because we were caught up in conversation and they never rushed us out, which I really appreciate. Mariscos KC is a Mexican seafood casual dining establishment. When you first walk in, you are greeted by the friendliest employees ever. The service here is truly amazing! They have booth seatings, bar area, and regular tables available. The food here is so fresh and delicious! The price of the dish is worth it, because they give you so much! Everything we ordered tasted so good! When I say it's finger licking good, I literally mean it. I was using my fingers to pick at the fish to the bones! We ordered many dishes and all were amazing. You can even bring kids that may not want seafood, because they have Mac & cheese, chicken nuggets, etc. The drinks I've tried were the pina colada, tequila sunrise, and Paloma. All were so yummy! KC needed something like Mariscos. A bar setting, amazing seafood, reasonably priced. For ceviche, I highly recommend Tropical version. And if you dare, order with habanero sauce. If you preferred shrimp and can handle some heat, try the Cucaracha Shrimp. It will set you on fire, yet so flavorful. We also tried the cajun crawfish, which i can report back, is legit. OMG we just had the most amazing meal! MESSY but great! We had one of the crawfish shrimp crab boil platters with a spicy sauce and then a fish variety in a molcajete. Both were super good! All super fresh tasting fish and crab. Margarita was not your ordinary and I loved it! We had a sweet mango sticky rice for dessert. The ONLY complaint is that it is super messy and they don't have free bibs yet. They are working on it. SO just don't wear your Sunday best and be ready to get down and dirty to get some really amazing grub!! Staff and owner were all friendly and amazing. How did I not know about this place?!? It's off the chart one of my new favorite places!! If you LOVE seafood, this place is a MUST!! And the service is EXCELLENT! Carlos, our waiter extraordinaire, was so helpful explaining the dishes we chose and consistent on our drinks. He was a dream. We ordered the shrimp queso, (cheese and shrimp?) with crispy well seasoned chips. Delicioso!!! And our Molcajete Caliente (a volcano of crab legs, shrimp, octopus, delicate fish, scallops & mussels) was GIGANTIC!! My husband and I shared, and still came home with a ton to make seafood tacos for dinner!!!! The garlic sauce on top of it was messy and worth it. And price?? Are you kidding?? So affordable. I'm already planning on going back....again and again and again. The menu is extremely expansive and the photos help you to try things you never thought existed!! The staff working the door tonight was terrible. The restaurant was half way full and we were asked to wait 20 mins, and then told to wait in our car. Everyone coming in behind us were all seated. I even asked if some of them had reservations and they said they did not, but where seated immediately. When we returned 20 mins later, he stated he was too full and couldn't seat us. Food was great...service was terrible. Their timing for the meal was worse than mine when I cook at home. Of the four meals ordered, two were delivered in a timely manner. Fifteen minutes later, I went to the counter to ask about the other two meals and they seemed surprised. One came about five minutes later and the fourth came ten minutes after that. The first two people served were finished eating. After ten minutes of eating, the bread for the fourth meal was delivered. There were no apologies and no attempt to make things better. The meal was charged at full price. I truly believe the last two meals would have never arrived without saying something. Although the food was good, I can't guarantee you'll receive it to know how good it can be. Well I've died and gone to Mexican seafood heaven in the heart of Olathe, what?!? This newly opened seafood cantina is pretty small on the inside with a bar and just a handful of tables. The menu is a seafood lovers dream with ceviche, fried whole fish, shrimp, tacos, and more. Our first order was Mojarra Frita (fried whole fish), mixed ceviche, shrimp fries, and churro bites. Everything was incredible. The ceviche was light and bright with the right amount of brightness from the lime juice. The shrimp fries had a delicious sauce drizzled on top and the churro bites reminded us of little donuts. So so impressed by this place and know it will become one of our go to places. read more

Just moved to KC area and was pleasantly surprised to find Mariscos KC! I ordered the shrimp fries and the Dori Locos (Doritos with ceviche and tapatio), had to wash it all down with some Mexican beer by the bottle. So good and they give you a lot. My server was William, very attentive and super friendly guy with stylish slick back hair. And a surprise that he's from the same area of Cali that I am, so he knows his stuff.
