Before coming here, I thought aguachiles were the top tier... then I tried their salsa morena and that changed everything. Now I don't even bother with anything else -- morena sauce on EVERYTHING. That sauce is on another level. The ceviche mixta with morena sauce is straight fire. We even ordered two big charolas for my son's first birthday party, and I'm not exaggerating -- almost everyone at the party kept asking where we got the ceviche from. That tells you all you need to know. Only downside is the parking can be a little tight since it's on a small corner, but honestly, once you taste the food, you forget about that real quick. Mariscos El Moreno was recommended by a friend. When I drove into California we gave it a go and it did not disappoint. The restaurant itself is pretty small so we waited 25 minutes before being seated. The server was really nice and explained the menu to us. We had a platter with cooked and raw shrimp, scallops, tuna and octopus. The platter was really good and all ingredients were really fresh. We also had their empanadas and they were also very tasty. Mariscos el Moreno is estilo Sinaloa (iykyk) and they fully embody everything it means to make mariscos from that region. I always call my order in ahead of time and take the CHAROLA SUPER MIXTA CON CALLO SALSA VERDE to parties and get togethers. Everything always echoes the same thing I'm writing about in this review. I messed up because now I've been officially voted the getter of mariscos for the parties $$$$$!!!! This place gets PACKED on the weekends so I advise ordering ahead and they will package it up nicely for you. My favorite mariscos place at the moment. Another must visit place when I come back home to LA. It's everyone's favorite! This last time we got a charola mixta morena- we got to try a bit of everything in this party mix and it was SO fresh and good! The portion was pretty big, we had lots of leftovers. There are so many marisco places in and around Lynwood but trust me when I say this is the best! Highest quality of food and best ambiance and service! I need to try more of the menu but when you have cooked shrimp, raw shrimp, fried shrimp, octopus, and scallops on their salsa morena (La Morena Especial), it's hard to go away from it. I'm picky with my mariscos but they use top quality fresh ingredients, you can taste it. The salsa has a nice spicy kick to it but not overwhelming. It's probably one of the best salsas negras I've tasted. This botana costs $38.99 but it has so much seafood it is totally worth it.
