The fish is same day fresh from the local fish market. The batter is perfect, crispy and crunchy with every bite. I was shocked how good it was. The chips (fries) are hand-cut daily and deep fried to perfection. Not soggy and not too crispy, just perfect. The coleslaw (OMG) was just perfection and again home-made daily, as is their tarter sauce. The only thing served here that is not homemade daily is the ketchup and malt vinegar. Oh yes, they do indeed have malt vinegar, an essential condiment for fish and chips of this quality. I went for the classic fish and chips, and was not disappointed. It was amazing. A large portion of 4 pieces of battered fish with a healthy portion of perfect chips. Enough to share with my wife. Along with two cokes, the total was US $11. A very fair price. I noticed other fish and chips options on the menu to go along with the classic. Lemon flavor or chile flavor fish, or you can opt for a mix of both. I'll try that next time :) They also offer other fish burgers, tacos etc. as well as other non fish options like beef burgers and club sandwiches, salads, juices etc. All homemade of course. What makes this place so good? The dedication of the wonderful couple who own and run the place. The chef is genuinely proud of the food he makes to order. They have perfected their food over the past 3 years yet they still come out to ask for feedback on everything. You can see the passion for what they do. So, these days there is no excuse for missing such a great little place. The crab is large, deep fried in butter, served with beans, rice, and fresh tortillas. Unfortunately, I can't say it was out of this world. I believe this place is overhyped. Because the crab was deep fried, it shrunk and the crab meat in the claws were more shredded rather than in chunks, making it a lot of work to eat. While the concept is cool, as they give you a big rock to crack your crab... the meal was about average. I had to use a lot of lime to even out the butter flavor. The rice, beans, and tortillas were also a bit dry unfortunately. Service was great and our female server was very attentive, filling our waters and taking away our dishes promptly. I really enjoyed the fish taco (I should've gotten more!). The calamari and chowder fries were also good. I loved the covered outdoor seating area and how quick it was to order and receive our food. I was excited as I love the sweet nutty flavor of red snapper.  I watched as the fish fried.  Red snapper was coated in cornmeal batter and was crunchy on the outside.  Normally cornmeal batter has a slightly sweet and slightly salty flavor.  I didn't taste much from either the batter or the fish other than the fried batter flavor. Fries were very crunchy and dry.  Not overcooked but close. I added 5 shrimp to the order.  There was a ton of batter and some kind of hot sauce used to season the batter which hid the flavor of the shrimp.  I did not like the flavor so I gave the rest of the shrimp to Maggie who didn't like the flavor of the oil or the batter. Staff was nice.  Sadly my search for delicious fried red snapper continues.
