I'm not a seafood person at all, but I was pleasantly surprised at just how good the fish and chips here were. I usually order the "2 Fish w/ Reg Chips," and the portion is big enough to share or split into 2 meals as the fish are fairly big. It also comes with a side of coleslaw. The food is made-to-order and comes out hot and fresh! The batter on the fish is incredibly crispy but manages to maintain an airiness to it at the same time, not greasy at all! The chips were also very crispy despite their thick cut. I've not had chips like these anywhere else! They were truly one of a kind. While the chips were well-seasoned, the fish could've used a lil salt, although it's nothing that can't be fixed with some tartar sauce. If you dine in, the owner will bring out a metal bucket with some napkins, a water bottle, and a bottle of cocktail sauce to accompany your meal. They also have a special bottle of sauce for the fish, but I can't seem to remember the name of it. The owner is incredibly kind and welcoming and remembers you and your order. Great family-owned business that I'm happy to support. It's a no-frills place that delivers on the quality and service. Truly outstanding!
It's been a while since I've been here, and I usually really enjoy their fried fish, but this visit was a bit disappointing. The texture and fry on the fish were on point ,crispy and cooked well but the fish itself lacked flavor in every bite. The tartar sauce was okay, and the vinegar was just average, but overall it still satisfied my fish and chips craving. Hoping this was just an off day because I've enjoyed this spot in the past.
In town for work and craving authentic fish n chips. Found Mr. Fish n Chips thanks to Yelp and we were on our way. Located in a plaza with several businesses, plan a few extra minutes to secure parking. I walked in and was immediately greeted by Mr. Sam, the owner. Really kind man, answered my questions as I was undecided on what to order. We decided on the three piece fish and chips with a side of jumbo shrimp and a two piece fish and chips and a side of coleslaw. The fish portions are big, we could have shared one meal...leftovers for the win! Steak fries and jumbo shrimp were delicious and the coleslaw could put KFC out of business. I chatted with Mr. Sam briefly on the way out and told him he will see me again. Thank you for feeding us, Mr. Sam!
What a great find! My Mom (from England) visits me every month & is always on the hunt for a good fish & chips nearby. Mr. Fish and Chips does NOT disappoint! the fish was a nice size, battered well, crispy, & every bite was delicious. The fries were great as well. Service was excellent, the owner was nice & exchanging stories with my Mom. A very Mom & Pops feel to the shop, I'll certainly be back! Parking lot can get a bit busy
This is one of my top five places to go for Fish and Chips in San Diego. It is what they specialize in and they sure know how to do it right. The owner is nice and friendly and provides good service. It is a small restaurant and you have the option of eating inside or on the patio. No reservations and seating can be limited so we usually go after lunch rush hour or early dinner. The fish is always hot and crispy and the fries are yummy and well seasoned. What I like about the fish is it has a light batter. We order the cole slaw which complements the fish. They also offer shrimp, oyster, clams and chicken strips on the menu. I will have to try the shrimp one of these days and deviate from the yummy crispy fish. They offer condiments like Vinegar and Tarter sauce to go with the fish. Definitely a place to check out if you like Fish and Chips.

Mr. Fish and Chips is aptly named! I came on a Saturday afternoon with one of my friends who had been wanting to check it out. We walked in and proceeded to the ordering counter. We looked at the menu and the 2 piece seemed like it would be filling for one person. We each ordered that and a root beer. The owner behind the counter was efficient and multitasking as he went from frying fish to taking out orders and then back to frying. There's one longer table inside and another smaller one. There were more tables outside but we wanted to stay out of the wind. We waited at the longer table since the smaller one was taken. There were a few others who sat there too but as it seems most people order to go, they would receive their orders and leave. We shortly after got our food. I'm not normally a fan of tartar sauce but this one is worth trying! They also had condiments on the table like the vinegar and ketchup. My first impression when I took a bite was that it was slightly more breaded than I would like but as I ate it, it worked for me. It's hard to find a good fish and chip place nowadays. I live in the Bay Area though so I'd only be able to come here when I'm visiting. That being said, it was a lot of fish and fries and I was more than stuffed by the time I got up with a to go box of leftover fries. The fish was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The fries were also crispy and plentiful. The owner is active and would ask people if they needed boxes, open doors when he could to let people in and out and also delivered the food to each table. Parking is easy here as it's part of a strip mall. I suggest trying this place out if you are in the area and wanting fish and chips. I know I'll be back if I'm ever in the area!
Top notch customer service. Great fry's that pair perfectly together. What sets them apart is the light batter and the seafood being seasoned and fried to perfection. Always freshly made.
Didn't realize we have a really good fish and chips shop in Claremont. Have passed by this place so many times, but decided out of nowhere to try it out. Solid fish, solid fries, solid prices for what you get. Service felt personal and friendly. The tartar sauce is so good. Did not realize I could even tell good tartar sauce, but this stuff is amazing.
Great service and food! Even the ambiance is nice inside, there are two medium tables. I ordered and sat at an outside table- people watching (it's located next to a Vons and many other businesses). The food is great. I had the 1 fish n chips and clam strips. Both were delicious. Honestly I should have ordered 2 fish strips. It was so tasty and fresh!!!!! The batter was crispy, and at just the perfect ratio of crisp to moist tender flavorful cod filet. - not like other places where they over batter. I will be back. Most importantly the service was awesome!!!! Super friendly! Thank you for being in San Diego!
After traveling overseas. I've found a new found love and craving for Fish and Chips. Have tried multiple places since being back and unfortunately I could not find a place that satisfied my cravings until.... Last night. I've seen this place on tik tok and yelp reviews but I live in Spring Valley and it's quite a drive. I happened to be in the area and decided to give it a try. While ordering I seen a beer that caught my attention because I've never seen it before so I tried it and it was really good. (Pictured) unfortunately I didn't get a picture of the food but it was absolutely amazing. Everything I've been looking for. Taste, Texture and they were good size. I ordered Two piece fish and chips and Two Jumbo shrimp. Hands down Best place thus far and I will definitely be making the drive!!

Great, quick fish and chips! Battered cod, shrimp, fries, zucchini, and more. Cod pieces are large. If you don't want fries you can order only fish à la carte. The batter is perfection. Simple menu with just enough variety. Tartar sauce, malt vinegar, ranch, and cocktail sauce available. Located next to Vons in a shopping center with ample parking. Small shop. When I went on a Saturday, it was takeout only-no option to dine in. All chairs were stacked up. The man working was friendly and efficient. I'll definitely be back when I'm craving fish and chips. I just wish there was an option to dine in so I could eat it while it's hot and fresh. read more

Honestly a really good fish and chips. I mean I guess it should be based on the name.... But still happy with the food. The owner was very friendly. It's take out only but there are tables there. Sitting outside is nice but mostly looks at the parking lot area. The fish n chips breading was nice and light in flavor. Fries were solid and better than most fish n chips place. read more

One of the best fish and chips spots in San Diego. But what makes it better is the service here. Top notch service from the owner. He's usually taking the order, making the food and serving customers. Even checking up on us during our time there. The fish & chips are super crispy & always comes out fresh. The portions are large and it's so simple. We also get the fried shrimp with chips and they're huge. The fries are like steak fries and always comes out hot & fresh. It's a small shop in between other restaurants. It's very simple decor and limited seating. Always come back here when I'm craving fish & chips. read more

Delicious! This is the best fish and chips Ive ever had. Crispy and moist, Fresh large pieces of cod. The chips are traditionally cut. Coleslaw can be ordered as a side, it looked great although I didnt order any. Service was friendly and cheerful. The prices are a bit high for me, but worth it. read more

We ordered two 2 piece fish combos one with coleslaw. Very yummy, crunchy fish cooked lightly. Coleslaw was good too. Service was nice and friendly and brought to our outdoor table. Would highly recommend if you're looking for a traditional fish n chip place. read more

Honestly I wasn't sure what to expect when we visited the store. I have been waiting to try their Fish and Chips for a long time, yet never gotten the chance to. We finally came here one night and the store was quite empty. We decided to order to go although we would love to eat there but the store seemed pretty small inside. The menu is very simple, just like the store name. We had 3 fish with large fries and were completely surprised when handed two huge boxes. Despite we took it home, the food was still very delicious! The fish was fresh with nice batter. Love the sauces that was included, highly recommend trying the vinegar. The fries was also very good. Big chunky fries that fill us up nicely. Some of the best fried fish in town. Crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. They are super friendly here too. Seating is very basic. Come for the food, not for the ambience. I didn't have the chips or coke slaw so I can't comment on those, but I'll be back for sure! read more
