One word: Campechana. OK... a few more words... with avocado. Been eating here for years and years and the medium sized campechana for $7.75 is what I get. Campechana is basically a cold soup with octopus, abalone, shrimp, and raw oyster. It's mixed up with onion, tomato, cucumber, cilantro, and avocado if you ask for it. It reminds of the wonderful Korean soup Sul Lung Tang as in it comes out pretty bland and you're expected to season it to taste..... once seasoned it's a thing of beauty. Squeeze the provided lemon wedges until all the juice is in your bowl..... pour in ketchup, tapatillo, and sprinkle with salt/pepper. Mix it all up and enjoy the wonderfully fresh tasting seafood cocktail you've just created. You're given a boat load of crackers too eat with the meal. It's simple, refreshing, and perfect on a hot day like today. The shrimp tacos here kick major arse. They're pretty filling. If you're craving a taco I recommend getting the small sized campechana and a shrimp or fish taco. You'll be surprised how filling it is. Chips are made to order and come out steaming hot. They're some of best chips I've ever had. It used to be served with a spicy pico de gallo but they're now serving a bland red salsa which looked good but was pretty flavorless. I wanted to try something different since i always get it...Taking a risk i tried their Aguaschiles and hopefully it was just a one time deal? but it was NOT good at all. Awesome ceviche tostadas!! The micheladas were so tasty, Kevin the server told me they make their own michelada mix, I think that's why they taste so good. The tostadas have so much ceviche on them, you can actually make 3 tostadas out of one! Good service provided by Kevin, he was attentive and helpful. This is one of my new favorite lunch spots near my work! I recently discovered this restaurant, thanks again to the handy-dandy YELP! This restaurant is located in a small strip mall. There is plenty of parking in the lot. They have a decent amount of tables to accompany big parties, and they also have a lot of 2-seaters. The first time I went, there was a big birthday party that occupied a large table in the center. The rest of the tables were fairly filled up during the lunch hour. I thought to myself, if I hadn't gotten there earlier, I may not have been able to sit at the restaurant. The second time I went, there was no one there when I first arrived around noon. I've had co-workers also stop by and say that they couldn't find a table, so they got their food to go. So it's truly hit-or-miss when it comes to the crowds. Now, about the food... 5 stars all the way! I had seen photos of the tostada combination - shrimp & imitation crab with avocado. I actually came here because of it, and let me just say, it did NOT disappoint! There was a massive amount of shrimp on the bottom layer, imitation crab in the middle and sliced avocado on top. The tostada came with salsa on the side, which was like the "cherry on top". I dream about this dish often - it is THAT good! The second time I went, I got the ala carte shrimp taco and fish taco. The shrimp taco was very flavorful and it had a nice combination of ingredients. The fish taco was good, but after eating the shrimp taco first, the fish taco came to a close second. All meals come with fresh chips and salsa. The salsa ROCKS! The chips are great too. This is an authentic mexican seafood restaurant with reasonable prices and excellent food. Pretty good place for Mexican seafood. My favorites are shrimp cocktail and camarones a la diabla (shrimps in spicy sauce). The shrimp cocktail is more like a zesty salsa with shrimps in it. I just eat it up like a soup. Shrimps in spicy sauce comes with rice, tortilla (corn or flour), and salad. The sauce is so addicting. It's spicy with a refreshing lime flavor. The shrimps were a bit tiny and there were only about 5 pieces of shrimp. However, this was for the lunch menu and it was only about $6.50 so can't complain there. I'm pretty sure the regular dinner menu has more shrimp pieces but will also cost more. I brought my coworkers here for a lunch meeting recently and they all loved it. Since it's close to my work, I'll probably stop by more frequently and try their dinner menu. They used to be cash only but now accepts credit cards. Parking lot is tiny so you may have to park on the street. read more

My eyelash person, Jessica, raved about this place and for 2 weeks I was debating whether or not to try this place. I didn't want this to be hyped, only to get let down. Plus, the mixed reviews didn't make it easy to take the plunge. Well, I am glad I did. I called in my order and the girl said it would be ready in 15 minutes, it took me that long to find parking. Even though the parking blows, and I had to walk a block and a half, the cocktail was pretty good. A large shrimp cocktail came to $12.97 with tax, and that's with avocados. It's easily enough for two people to share, or one piggly wiggly like me to have as my dinner. One person reviewed that the cocktail sauce is a bit sweet. I must agree. I think it's because they use lime instead of lemons. But you can easily change that by adding more Tapatio. There's plenty of shrimp and avocado in the large serving. It does lack chunks of tomato, and I did not see any cucumber. I also wish they could have used more cilantro. But taste wise, it was A-OK! In my to go bag, I was given a wedge of lime, salt and pepper, three packets of Tapatio (which I used 2) and 10 packets of saltine crackers. So, was it the best Mexican shrimp cocktail I've ever had? No. But for the price and the quantity, it sure beats making the stuff at home or traveling all over orange county to find one to fill my hankering. read more

Hint, if you're looking for a place that has beans and rice, dont come here! They don't have beans and the rice has an acquired taste. Ive been coming here for the past 2 years and its one of my favorite places to come and have some great food and service. Ive had Sandra and Jazmine as our waitress and they are amazing. We call in our order and have it there to dine in. So they are always on top of our request and help us till the time we come in and leave. There Monday thru Friday lunch specials are awesome. Especially the two fish tacos. I highly recommend this place. Fyi for a faster service make sure you call it in first so you dont have to wait. I love seafood and tostadas! I recommend the combination tostada with imitation crab, octopus and shrimps piled high. You can add an avocado on top which I totally recommend. This alone will get you full. The white fish sandwich was very tasty and so were the oysters on a half shell were good too. They only serve beer, boo! Chris D told me about this place when I reviewed Ostioneria Colima--in reference to Campechana Cocteles (Mixed Seafood Cocktails). I've been meaning to check this place out since I've been researching what Mariscos Clemente had to offer via Yelp Reviews. I did not get the Campechana Cocteles because I felt like trying the other things they had to offer. Service - Good - Asked me several times how things were and were very polite. Cleanliness - Excellent - Health Board of Orange County gave it a "Passed" Price - $18.54 (including tax and tip) Seafood - Yes, shrimp, octopus, abalone, clams, lobster, oysters, mussels, tilapia, scallops Meats - Yes, carne asada Vegetables - Yes, check salads Dessert - N/A Fruits - N/A Other - (1) Located in Orange Plaza on Orangethorpe Ave & Gilbert St. (2) Free parking lot. (2) Cash and Credit Cards are accepted here. What was ordered: Hibiscus Water ($1.75) - Okay - Is also know as Aqua de Jamaica which is made from dried hibiscus flower, water, and sugar. My research found that this drink--more like a tea--is meant to be light and NOT overtly sweet. Quantity: 16 oz styrofoam cup. Quality: Had a nice cranberry color and was very refreshing. Flavor: The flavor is indeed very light. You can taste a hint of hibiscus, but you really need to try hard to taste it. My ex coworkers use to make it fresh and it was extremely delicious--added more sugar than they did at Mariscos Clemente. So my flavor buds have been roided out and this drink is just okay here. Camaron Tostada ($6.45 + $0.75 for Avocado) - Okay - Shrimp and imitation crab served with tomatoes, onions, cilantro, tomato sauce, and lemon on a tostada. Quantity: Tostada was approximately 5.5 inches in diameter. Between 25 to 30 small sized shrimp piled up approx. 1.5 inches high. Very small handful of imitation crab. The avocado was approx. 3 inches in length. Quality: Everything looked very fresh. Flavor: Nothing really popped, which surprised me. I resorted to using Tapatio and the watery red sauce that came with the dish. Pescado Taco ($2.25) - Excellent - Grilled halibut (?) with sliced purple cabbage on a toasted flour tortilla. Quantity: 3 thick slices of halibut. Flour tortilla was approximately 6 inches in diameter. Quality: Halibut was cooked very nicely--nice sear, white opaque color, and flakey. The purple cabbage had a nice crunch. Tortilla was toasted perfectly and had a nice soft texture. Flavor: Perfectly seasoned halibut that was not overtly fishy in taste. Each bite was a delight. Went very well with a bit of tanginess from the white dressing on the purple cabbage. Other: I believe the fish was halibut because other reviewers mentioned halibut. I know it could not be Tilapia because it was completely white all the way through. Camaron Taco ($3.25) - Good - Grilled shrimp with lettuce, purple cabbage, tomatoes, onions, and cooked rice on a toasted flour tortilla. Quantity: Approximately 7 small-medium sized shrimp. Very generous with the vegetables and rice. Quality: Shrimp and rice were cooked very well. The vegetables were very fresh and had a nice color. Flavor: Most of the flavor came from the rice and the dressing on the vegetables. In fact, I believe the dressing was composed of ranch since I could clearly taste it. The shrimp tasted good when I was able to catch one. Overall, A-Ok. I would say that the Pescado Taco is the clear winner out of the things I ordered. Perhaps, I should of got the Campechana Cocteles like Chris D. suggested. I guess I'll have to come back to try it to see if it is better than Ostioneria Colima. read more

Michelada and ceviche. I don't understand why I haven't written sooner. Mariscos Clemente is the perfect spot for a light(and healthy) lunch. The portions of the ceviche tostada are insane. So, typically the wife and I split one ceviche tostada(ask for an extra shell) and a seafood cocktail. The food is incredibly refreshing. Service spot on. If seafood isn't your thing, don't fret. They are also known for great tortas. The carne asada is great. What goes great with or without a hangover? A Michelada. Ahh..your choice of beer blended with clamato, hot sauce and the glass' rim garnished with Pico de Gallo seasoning. Mariscos Clemente in Fullerton is a small, local Mexican eatery that may look run down and questionable on the outside but actually serves surprisingly good seafood dishes inside. The tacos are inexpensive ($2.25) but are served on freshly made tortillas. The same goes for the nachos, but I'm not sure of the tostadas. Speaking of which, the tostadas are generously portioned and served with homemade salsa. I wasn't a big fan of the imitation crab, but it didn't diminish the over all good value of the dish. If you're in the area, be sure to check it out. Don't be inimidated by the shoddy exterior and you'll be rewarded by some pretty well made South of the border cuisine. read more

I didn't really like it here. The restaurant is really cute inside, with ocean murals, and the waitress was very nice, but this style of mariscos was just not for me. We got the mixed tostada, which was a ton of shrimp neatly placed in a ring around the tostada shell, then a mix of baby octopus, abalone (fake?) inbetween a huge mound of krab, topped with three large slices of avocado. I really liked the pulpo and abalone, I wish there was more pulpo. I guess if I were to ever come here again I would just get the octopus tostada. I didn't care for the shrimp, I felt they were a bit overcooked and a little gritty (also there were not deveined). The sauce it came with was way too sweet for me, so I had to put a lot of lime. I actually liked the salsa they gave with the chips better on this. We also got a shrimp taco and fish taco. They are both grilled. The fish was too dry, and I am not used to melted yellow (cheddar?) cheese in my fish tacos. The shrimp taco was really big but I didn't know it came with rice inside. A lot of rice, and a few small shrimp, along with the regular stuff, cabbage, tomato, sauce, etc. But it was served in a flour tortilla. The flour tortilla made it taste very Taco Bell. Lastly, the chips. They were very thick and too oily. I did like the salsa that they came with though. Overall I probably wouldn't come back here. But if given the choice between here or that fast food Mexican joint across the street, I would definitely come here! That other place blows. My husband and I had been craving seafood and we decided to try this place out. We bought two cocktails and a dozen of oysters. Worst mistake was coming here and paying $65.00 for tasteless food and on top of that there was a hair in my cocktail very disgusting. This place was a little disappointing :( The good things about the restaurant is that they give you a general portion of house chips and salsa, which they refill upon request. The chips and salsa were really tasty and the service was pretty decent and friendly. However the plates we ordered lacked flavor and were quite disappointing. We shared as an appetizer a mixed seafood cocktail which was pretty watery, almost like a cold soup. It did not have big chunks of seafood, avocado, onion, tomato like you would except. They put shrimp, octopus and scallops which was nice but they did not seem very fresh. The cocktail was also way too sweet for some reason. As for the dinner course I got the octopus a la Diabla. So I was expecting spicy and flavorful but instead it lacked the spices you normally expect out a la diabla sauce, although I did get a heartburn later that night :( The plates are pretty generous in portion they come with rice and a salad.
