We should have ran out, upon entering the smell of restroom welcomed us in. Nevertheless we gave it a shot from looking at a TikTok with what appeared to be good fish. The coctel was bland, limited shrimp the onions were chopped with an un sharpened knife, you get the picture. Next to the coctel was what appeared to be an octopus tentacle that fell off another plate because it was grilled. The lemonade tasted like tap water with sugar. We got the main dish Pez zarandeado. Food was mid. $83 for 3 plates , Service was horrible which is why I'm really writing this review, they only have 1 waiter and I was super annoyed because I HAD TO GET UP TWICE not once but twice because they messed my order up and the waiter she wasn't very attentive, was literally wiping her SWEAT with her hands then using those same hands to serve people their food and utensils! That's unsanitary asf. we would ask her to bring something and she never came which is what led me to get up several times. To top it off when I seen my receipt she tried charging me for 3 can sodas when one of the drinks were supposed to be FREE with our kids meal, the lady seemed like she didn't even know that when I pointed it out she look at the menu again and realized that too late. She said she couldn't change the receipt order anymore and would give me a free soda I told her I didn't want the soda I wanted my money back and receipt correct and I asked her if I can speak with the manager and apparently there is no manager on the floor. First, this isn't fast food. It is one of the most perfect ceviche restaurants I've ever been to - and I'm from the boarder, and have had ceviche at many peoples homes, and of course a life time of Mexican restaurants. The ambience reminds me of the best local places - but it's done with a purpose: from the wall that's showing exposed brick (fake) to the door handle that's got a little dint near it (even though the bathroom is clean and modern) to the jukebox that plays Mexican music for clientele who speak Spanish while eating. The food is beyond: the oyster shots are NOT to be missed - i've had oysters at the place that invented oysters Rockefeller, I've had oysters everywhere along the left, right, and south coast. These are oyster shots are the BEST. Service is spectacular. The people are caring, helpful, and instructive. The speed of service is EXACTLY what you should expect from a real restaurant making food - they bring the food out as it's done. Additionally the mixologist makes some of the most amazing Mexican mixed drinks I've ever encountered. And the Churos are so good that it'll ruin you for every other Churo. read more

Unfortunately I would not recommend nor come back here. The food overall lacked flavor and was too salty. Based on all our orders, the agua chiles were so bitter and salty we didn't not finish them at all. My plate with the shrimp was somewhat okay. Nothing special about the sauce and the beans were really salty. The rice alone tasted old and reheated. It also lacked flavor. The fish fillet lacked flavor as well. The molcajete that we also ordered was just ok. We also ordered the breaded fish fillet which again, was salty. The wet burrito was okay, again with the rice tasting old and just reheated. The agua frescas were also nothing special. The jicama agua fresca was all watered down that we had to ask the waiter to take back. The horchata water wasn't homemade so it definitely tasted like the one you can get at a 7/11. This review is based on all the plates we tried. The food was so fresh and pretty good. I ordered the molcajete mar y Tierra, they were not greedy with the shrimp and meat. The drinks on the other hand were SO GOOD. The michelada and the Pina drink I believe it was didn't even taste like there was alcohol in it (just the way I love it), but it hit me later. Honestly, one of the best drinks I've had. Haven't been here for awhile due to funds. But we had to show up today for a late nite small dinner date. Once again, the service from Luis is awesome. When we entered the owner recognized us and greeted us as we took our seats. Gave us a warm welcome with our menus. Small things like this, is what brings us back to this wonderful place. There are hundreds of restaurants that deserve to be part of the spotlight of food and dining. 2020 hasn't been that great to a lot of restaurants, but there are those who still provide quality food who deserve to close. With the help of Yelp, small businesses can continue to strive and earn our attention that they never had before. Let's eat at Mariscos Los Chavalones in Anaheim. Located on the north side of Lincoln Ave. about 4-5 blocks east of Beach Blvd. in a small mini-mart in between a local furniture and a liquor store, you will find Mariscos Los Chavalones. I don't have the perfect translation, but I have a partial translation of: Seafood of the Kids or the Kids Seafood. I hope other Yelpers can help translate it to the actual meaning. Parking is quite tight because of the outdoor tent/patio that Mariscos Los Chavalones has set up, but it means, busy...busy. When we walked inside, a lady told us if we wanted to sit inside or outside. We were like...WHAT?! We can eat inside now?! YES!! Of course, at the time of this writing, its limited capacity. Tables are very separated and safe. You can order at the bar area as well. I didn't take a great glimpse, but I believe there was a TV at the outdoor patio. Watch either inside or outside, the environment was still great to drink and eat. They have a music Jukebox you can pay and select your song. At Mariscos Los Chavalones, you can view a menu via paper menu or via mobile site by scanning a QR Code. Our server, Luisa, took our drink order while we review the menu. My wife ordered, a can of Coca-Cola ($1.99) and I ordered a regular size of Tamarindo ($2.75). It is a flavor of tamarind, water, and sugar. Tamarind is from a tree, so I am not quite sure if its a fruit or more of a flavor. If you haven't tried it out...Why Not?! Just an FYI, you can order a can of soda or a Mexican Bottle of soda. If you love Mexican Food, you don't even need to look at a menu food. The one thing I love about Mexican Food is that you can customize it to many different variations that no one guest will have. We were given complimentary chips and salsa. You can order single tacos to full plates with rice and bean or just a relaxing cocktail. My wife knew what she wanted without even looking at the menu. I guess its just pronouncing it fluidly. She ordered the Camarones Al Mojo De Ajo ($15.99). I ordered a simple Pollo Burrito ($6.99). That's all I need because food portions are beyond the price. The wait would be about 10-12 minutes. Of course, we all dig in to complimentary chips & salsa. What is there to complain about when time flies with chips and salsa occupies your time. Our food arrives in a grand presentation with one plate after another landing right in front of us. Of course, my burrito looks like a burrito with no extra fluff. As for my wife's Camarones Al Mojo De Ajo, I loved the plate presentation with refried beams, rice, and a side salad. Now, I wish I ordered what she got. My burrito is just jam packed with rice, onions, and lots of chicken. For $6.99, this was enough to have for breakfast and lunch. I added some of that salsa from the chips and salsa and oh man....Even hotter than before. With my wife's garlic on her plate, I added some to my Pollo Burrito....OH MY WORD...I made a special meal for myself. Definitely worth it!! Our lunch went very well and more people came in during/after our meal. It was like people followed where we found a star in the neighborhood. We've made it a new routine to find a Mexican Restaurant where ever we are. My wife loves her Camarones (Shrimp) and I love anything that offers variety and not a fixed menu where you can do much to a meal. When you have families coming in and guys ordering buckets of beer...you know this is a place to just hit back and relax. The Journey you've made is a story you've made alone. We ordered a mixta and it had a fishy smell to it (red flag), taste was not good and shrimp quality was poor (see picture). The coctel de camaron, the taste was not good. The mojarra lacked flavor. Very upsetting to the amount paid and the inedible food. I don't know if we are willing to burn our money or risk food poisoning to see if this was a one time fluke or if it just a change in their quality in food. It's a sad day. read more
