First time spur of the moment decision. On our way home from the Citadel Outlets. Craving seafood and found this place on Yelp. Had great reviews. Very busy and people waiting to be seated. Sat in the bar area and served immediately. Our server was amazing. Great service and conversation. Very welcoming and informative. Made some great recommendations. They welcome you with tostadas and salsa. I knew it was going to be a great night. Tostadas were so crunchy and salsa was delicious. Ambiance is fun and festive. Music was good. The manager came to our table to thank us for coming and gave us a card for a free appetizer on our next visit. OMG!!! What a great manager! That's the way to get customers to return and feel so special. The best people work here. Food and service AMAZING!!!

This location does not have parking so look for parking on the street or what other customers did such as myself was parking in the parking lot right next to it at the plaza where Del taco is. When we arrived, the host told us it was gonna be a 30 minute wait at around 7:30 PM on Friday night so she gave us the option to sit at the bar so we did. Right off the bat they serve you chips and salsa, but the chips are tostadas and the salsa was pretty spicy. For an appetizer, we got an order of guacamole which came out to $16.99, which is extremely ridiculous for the price didn't know till afterwards since it didn't have a price on the menu. For the entrée we ordered the Molcajete which also didn't come with a price on the menu, which came out to about to $55 which came with a nice big bone marrow, Asada cooked rare even though we asked for medium, pieces of chicken, three pieces of shrimp wrapped in bacon, nopales, block of cheese, green onions, half an avocado. It also included a side of rice and beans in one order of tortillas we wanted another order of tortillas which came out to an additional $2.99 Overall, the food was flavorful, but the prices were some of these things are ridiculous specifically for the guacamole and the up charge for extra tortillas. The ambiance is nice and modern. They have mostly outdoor seating which looked pretty cozy. Our server was great too and the other staff that attended to us were great as well. If you wanna come somewhere with cool vibes this is the place for you but honestly, I've been to better hole in the walls that offer the same items for fair prices. I would come back to try their other seafood options

Nice restaurant, Friendly Staff, Delicious food!!! The place has a cool vibe, with beach resort style furniture. Came for lunch with a coworker, and we both enjoyed our selections. We had the Tostada Rebelde and the Shrimp tacos. The Nemo drink is a little pricey for what you get but still taste good. Our server Alondra was kind and attentive and the manager Sid was friendly as well and checked on us. Will definitely be back to try out more of the options on the menu.

In the mood for light seafood dinner, thankfully, we got here just in time before it got crazy busy. Seafood tostadas and strawberry margarita were perfect and hit the spot! This is one of our favorite seafood restaurants, which we will always come back to, because the customer service and food are consistent and on point, every time we come!

Mariscos Choix was a good experience overall. The food was flavorful, and just about everything we tried hit the spot. We started with the Aguachile, which had a great balance of lemon and spice, very refreshing and well seasoned. I also ordered the Tacos Sinaloenses, which were simple but good. My favorite taco was the Taco de Mar y Tierra, which really stood out in flavor. The restaurant is pretty big with music playing, giving it a lively vibe. The host and waitstaff were very friendly and welcoming. Parking can be a bit tough, if you can't find street parking nearby, you'll need to park across the street in the shopping center near Del Taco. Overall, a solid spot and a fun atmosphere.

A great birthday celebration I had the fried fish I loved it. My friend had the great idea of asking for gloves! That really made my meal so pleasant nothing worse than fingering a fish. I'll be doing that every time we eat fish now my friends loved the octopus tacos. The fajitas were delicious. There was like eight of us and we were able to all share one order of the churros we had a great time. The service was amazing. Five stars #ValleyDowneyCrewGoVentures.

Finally made it out to this place for a late lunch. Wanting a cold and refreshing meal, mostly ceviche and agua chile type food. No wait for an inside table , multiple outdoor tables but it was still really hot despite fans and open air space. Quick service by waitress, she made sure to ask if it was our first time too; manager came to check on our experience at the end of the meal and made sure to invite us back with a coupon for a complementary agua chile next time. Tried a variety of food: Taco de Marlin and taco mar y tierra (grilled beef and shrimps) - both delicious Agua chile negro is a huge serving of raw peeled and split shrimp over slice cucumbers in a dark marinade that seems soy sauce or Worcestershire based. Very delicious and fresh. I got a camaron ceviche tostada: mixed raw shrimp and cooked shrimp plus lots of onions, crunchy cucumbers in a citrus mix. Complementary whole crisp corn tortillas and salsa, They have a huge size for lemonades and other agua frescas. Live music on evenings.

Came here for dinner on a Saturday night and lucked out with live music. We were a group of five and expected a long wait, but were seated in about 30 minutes. There's a bar area where you can grab a drink while you wait, which helps. We started with the chicharrones de pescado, crispy and a 10/10 with the dipping sauce. The shrimp empanadas were okay. I ordered the tacos de pulpo zarandeados and loved them, the avocado really brought everything together. My cousin had the camarones al mojo de ajo with rice and beans and said they had a nice spicy kick. Modern space, fun crowd, and people singing along to the live music, it was definitely a vibe. The seating area by the live music is very tight but the atmosphere made up for it. Overall the service was great.

Came in for a late dinner with my friend Ana. She ordered the fajitas mixtas and I ordered the 7 mares. We shared an order of the queso empanadas. The 7 mares was just OK. I don't know what kind of fish they use but it was probably marlin. Not the 7 mares I am used to. Seemed kind of skimpy. The fajitas were asked for medium well and got them medium rare. Empanadas were ok this time around. Nothing special. It was busy for a Friday night. That was expected. The live music was going at what seemed like a privada out back. The service was ok this time. Tried this place out on a Sunday night after seeing all of the reviews on yelp. The ambience was very loud as they had live Banda music, so I couldn't hear conversation with my friend. Our servers name was Andre, he was very friendly and chatty and checked on us a few times and always made sure our water cup was full. We got a Paloma and a lime margarita, the Paloma came out warm after waiting 20 minutes for it. The lime margarita was fake tasting. So I definitely don't recommend the alcoholic beverages here. We ordered two shrimp and steak tacos, and the all seafood tostada. Food was very good. The bill was $83 for two drinks and two entrées. Definitely plan to spend money if you come here. The food was the reason for the four star review because the alcohol was not good.

Nice place, we sat in the front patio, the music wasn't so loud, we actually could have a conversation and the windows were kinda open to get the breeze in. The food was good, although it came in different times, maybe because we had a big group. my fried fish was great. Andre our server was so nice and came by quite often to make sure we were ok. My first time here. This place was recommended by my bro who has been wanting to try it out. This place did not disappoint. The food is delicious! The drinks are delicious! Fish tacos were excellent. Was in the area and was craving tacos. Ambience: 5/5 really nice inside - they have like a porch vibe with salsa/cumbia music playing. Band will start playing around 4ishpm, didn't stay for that though since we finished eating way before then. This was on a Saturday afternoon. Parking 3/5 - I don't think they have their own parking at least I didn't see one. There's street parking and a parking lot on the side of the restaurant, took a risk and parked there - no ticket and car was still there when we got out, so I guess doable? Overall, will not be back because prices are way too high for what we ate IMO. Bill was almost $150 including tip for 3 people, this cost is like going to West Hollywood. We had tacos and ceviche, and one had steak fajitas, still...way too much. If you don't mind this and just came for the vibe then I guess you'll be fine.

This place has so much potential..ambiance is great, food was really good, service was good, but pricing is way too high for Downey. For a tiny margarita that's filled to the rim with ice, they charge $19..the tequila didn't taste great so there's no reason for that pricing. You can finish them in 3 big sips. We mentioned this to our server and apparently they've received this complaint before--hopefully they make some changes regarding drink prices. read more

Food is good if you love mexican food. Their specialty is sea food and the taste is delicious. The service you get is great they make sure that your order is correct and you are enjoying your time. They do have live music (Spanish only). It makes the ambience more joyful and makes you have a great tome while enjoying a good meal. This will be the second review i scribe for Choix-- and let me start by saying, that I have never been so happy to write a review for an eatery! Needless to say that i suggest you wear sunglasses because the glow of this review will likely be blinding. My first review of Choix was met with a response from the owner that included his personal number. On my second trip there I informed him that me and a friend where going and he assured me that they would be ready for my "presence." Lorraine and I met when we were both students in a doc program. She is a kind, wise, patient, grace-filled being. So naturally I wanted to impress her, so she gifts me with her warmth on another occasion and Choix certainly delivered the wow factor! I offered my name to the host, we were sat immediately--- the waitlist was a barrier I overcame. They sat us at a hightop- not my style, I have ankles that swell- so they took us to a four top--- in a corner, perfect! Shortly after we sat- the GM Jen- came to greet us! She was a vision- all dressed in different shades of blue. She explained that my review had been used in a training that she had for her staff. Jairo- the server who I amply praised in my first review- was celebrated in the moment. She thanked me for my words and offered dessert on the house. All of of the moments conspired to make me feel special. Like I was the sultana of Agrabah! Although receiving a complimentary dessert is nice, they only had churros to offer. A dessert selection was non existent. Perhaps variety is necessary. And if you really want new yet familiar hit us wih a chocoflan. Regardless the offer was touching, her words were genuinely kind, and the churros were crips and light! But the star of the day was the service. Lorraine is allergic to avocado- which is a staple of Mexican cuisine. I did not know that, Choix did not either, yet they responded to her allergy with professionalism, unchained. When they brought the molcajate they realize they brought it with a piece of avocado. Promptly they took it away, and the chef came to apologize and assured us that everything was going to be brought fresh because our experience there was important. His words again, were sincere, and hit my ear like pleasant wedding bells. The molcajate came and every single component tasted like a skip of heart made possible by catching the smile of the one you love! I savored the cheese, the longaniza, the steak, the grilled tomato, and the avocado that came in its own bowl in consideration of Lorraine's allergy, such service- my word- was only accessible in my dreams! I would be remised, if i did not mention that a nearby patron offered to buy me a shot. I don't drink so Lorraine got another margarita!!!! I guess such neighborly offers were made possibly by the magic that wafted in the air that night. But more likely because my fellow patron was inebriated to the sky, and when you are flying that high money is no object and all near are dear friends. Salud! The only criticism that I do have to offer was the music of the night. The place was small and the music was live, and enveloped the space. Thus lorraine and i enjoyed our dinner cheek to cheek. Maybe, making the music soft for the background would have made the space feels less like a club and more like a venue where dialogue was encouraged. All in all, get the molcajate, you'll want to buy me a shot too! read more

Service was slow for only having a small group of people there. No parking, the tostadas are hard as a rock and uncomfortable to munch on. The waiter barely even checked on us and forgot my husband's soda. The complimentary salsa they give you was okay but lacked flavor. I think if the service was good I would come back. SCAMMERS! I went there for my birthday dinner tonight July 5, 2025 and this girl (I think she was a host) came to take care of us instead of our server for the section to start off. We just wanted a round of shots but instead she insisted on us getting the bottle for 200 "For our convince" so we did but had NOT informed us they were going to charge 100+ TIP ON OUR TAB FOR A LARGE PARTY. Mind you, a large party is considered 6 or more we were a party of 5. (It even says on their website) This was not brought to our attention. Why wasn't the charge labeled as "bottle service" but instead labeled as "large party" ?!?!? We went back and spoke to management. Management couldn't be any USELESS. The worst management EVER. I work in the industry and I can say it was the worst I've ever encountered. We were trying to keep things professional so we didn't cause a scene. We just got offered 1 aguachile on the house. Compared to a 100 dollar extra tip is crazy. And we were going to tip generous afterwards but after that tip added WITHOUT LETTING US KNOW IS ABSURD. We do not mind paying but the fact that you were you going to charge us without letting us know is CRAZY AND AGAINST POLICY. KEYWORD: POLICY. Management even agreed with us knowing his employees were supposed to let us know but yet DID NOTHING on the matter which I find crazy. Never dining here again and I wouldn't recommend to anyone. If you are just make sure you know exactly what they are charging you for. read more

did my birthday at Mariscos Choix for a party of 22 of course the food was good but i feel like my last visit was way better and I'm very sad because I love this place so much but I wouldn't book a party there again they didn't even have 22 chairs at my table we had to add an extra table. They let my balloons that my husband dropped off before so he could surprise me get deflated. They also add $122 tip to the bill. Which I have no problem tipping great but I feel like if you're gonna add the tip to the bill , the service needs to be immaculate. And I don't feel like it was it really disappointed me because I love to eat there and I feel like the ambience is so nice but I was very disappointed in the seating and everything else for my birthday. Especially because they charge you $10 a person if you don't show up to your reservation. I'm just upset with my overall experience i feel like they can so much better especially if sum one books a 22 party with u ! read more

I've come in twice now, once after seeing a video about the food, and again after enjoying ourselves the first time so much. It was definitely worth the drive from Corona. We will definitely be returning as soon as possible. The food here is amazing, the service is excellent and even though this location is still currently under construction it doesn't lessen the experience at all. Both times I've visited it was very busy, but even with as busy as it was, the our server took time to check on us and make sure we were good. There was never a moment where we felt ignored or where we had to flag our server down, but they weren't hovering either. I recommend this place to anyone I can. I want to say that I am beyond impressed by all the staff at Mariscos Choix. From the moment you walk in you are welcomed with a smile. I came in with a party of 4 and was told there was a waitlist to which I didn't mind. A few minutes after my wife asks if we can get some drinks at the bar and they said yes and let me tell you the Nemo was my wife's favorite and Mine was the borracho the presentation and taste is top tier!!! When we finally got the text our table was ready to our surprise Cindy was attending us today and let me tell you she is very genuine. she asked about our engagement and it honestly made us feel like she really cared like if we've been knowing her for years . My brother in law ordered two fish tacos and she asked if we had any peanut allergies (he does) she let us know that the salsa they put on the side contains nuts. He helped us get settled at the bar while we waited for a table and was super friendly and welcoming the whole time. We were able to order some drinks with him, and they were honestly so delicious. What can I say , An overall 10/10 experience! Our server Melissa was adorable and full of personality plus. To start off she recommended some new items/dishes and her personal favorites from the menu and to say the least everything had us at a WOW!! To start we had Pata de Mula. When I heard pata de mula I was in a complete shock!! Pata de mula in Downey????? Not a lot of restaurant do but Mariscos choixs is definitely the best pata the mula in the whole county.. Next we had " Tacos de camarón baja y de Pescado baja" waitress personal favorite! So good that we had to get another round. We also had almejas, oysters prepared and natural ones so fresh and delicious. Last but not least Augachiles Negros The flavor, the taste, the spices! Accompanied with a House lemonade best combo. Never a dull moment here. They upgraded the place and menu and every time I come here I have a great experience I went there with a few friends on a Saturday evening. Everything about this place is EXCELLENT! We got seated immediately after our whole party arrived and the service was great! The weather was warm so I was craving a Michelada and a Coctel de campechana(mixed seafood cocktail). Both of the items I ordered suited the occasion refreshingly, service was quick and staff is friendly and attentive, I did have a minor negative critique, I had a couple fries from my nieces left over dish and It was obvious they cook their fries in the same oil as they do their seafood, I personally didn't mind, but I know some folks that would definitely complain about it, so just a heads up folks. We recently visited this restaurant after seeing an Instagram video that made the experience look amazing, but unfortunately, it didn't quite live up to our expectations. The food itself was okay, nothing terrible, and the prices felt higher than what the overall experience justified. One of the biggest disappointments was realizing that what we saw online didn't match what was actually offered when we visited. It seems that certain menu items or presentations highlighted in their social media are only available on weekends, something that wasn't clearly communicated. This made the experience fell a bit misleading and left us whishing we had known ahead of time. Enjoyed our first time at Mariscos Choix. All staff, especially Andre our server made our celebration for a group of 16 one to remember. We were seated in a timely manner for our reservation at 6:15. Drinks were ordered and enjoyed by all. Andre made sure to ask about food allergies which was great as some of their salsas have nuts in them. My son has nut allergies. The food was great we ordered a variety Baja Fish Tacos, Marlin Fish Tacos, De Pulpo, Tostada de Ceviche, Tostada Mixta, Molcajete, Beef Fajitas, Shrimp and chicken nuggets for the kids and everyone was satisfied with their meal. Given we were a large group drinks and food came out in a very timely manner. After dinner, celebration desserts were brought out by the staff for my brother and parents who we were celebrating. He took the time to walk us through the menu, gave great recommendations, and made sure we understood all the delicious seafood options. Woowww!!!! This place keeps getting better and better. I've been coming for some time now, and today was honestly the best. I always get my (tacos mar y Tierra). Let me just tell you.... These juicy ass tacos are bomb! Tortilla is fried, the cheese is fried, shrimp and asada... mmmm La tostada (ceviche de camarón con jaiva) is my favorite. The reason I keep coming back. Don't forget to ask for Chile chiltepin ( you might die) jk. Anyway, this place is honestly the best. As a client of about 4 years, this place is the best. Oh but wait...... there is more..... Ok so I been craving for a Botana choix that I saw a couple time on friends Snapchat. It looks super yummy avocado good presentation. So I went with hubb to take food to go. I order my Botana Choix. ERROR!! They give me 2 boxes, I open one it was only 3 slides of avocado and the other box was the Botana. Omg it was like one tostada serving. We paid almost $28dls which is ok for a Botana but serving was so poor. Flavor was delicious. have nothing to said about the kitchen really good. But never again I'll take botanas to go. They serve so poor portions. If you want a good Botana Mariscos for same price go to La Barca Grill and Cantina. read more

Was very surprised with the wait time which was none. Came here around 1pm on a Saturday and my family and I were seated right away. Have to mention that the food here is very delicious compared to other similar restaurants around the area. Micheladas are buy 1 and second half off! We had a mojara a la diabla ( super delicious ) and chicken fajitas. Our waiter was Guadalupe and she was very sweet and genuinely attentive. Amid the pandemic, things have changed every where and everyone one is trying their best to make things work. I was really hoping for a great experience at this place, but unfortunately, it didn't live up to expectations. The food was mostly mediocre. The Aguachile was alright, but nothing special. The "fresh guacamole made to order" looked more like an old spread -- definitely not what I was expecting. The Tacos Gobernador were fine, but it's disappointing that they charge extra for the chipotle sauce, which is usually included at other places. The chicken fajitas were also underwhelming, lacking the flavor and sizzle I was hoping for. Overall, it wasn't a terrible experience, but I won't be rushing back. read more
