The meatballs are a must. The meatballs are a must ... one more time: the meatballs were a must.

    Salad from Salad Bar

I stopped in for an early dinner and the restaurant was not busy at all. I was told to sit anywhere, and I picked a spot close to the salad bar. The menu was large, and I decided on the Manicotti. My waitress took my order right away and told me that a trip to the salad bar was included. The salad bar was clean with a good selection. It had shredded ham, which I really like. Everything looked very fresh. They had approx. 6 different dressing choices along with croutons and crackers. My Manicotti arrived and it was smothered in melted mozzarella and very hot. The pasta was really good, not too thick or thin and the cheese filling was very flavorful. The tomato sauce was on the sweet side, in fact I wonder if this is their pizza sauce because I could totally see that. My dinner also came with some bread and that was really the only disappointment I had; it didn't live up to the rest of the food. They should have had much better bread. Overall, a really good dining experience. I would most definingly go back if I am ever in town again.

Came in after the lunch rush, fast friendly service. I'm a huge critic of Italian food coming from my early youth around many Italian immigrants or 1st generation. The service was very good and they offered our duty crews a public service discount which was very nice. My sandwich came toasted which made it hard with a lot of crumbs, The sausage was sliced small but was plentiful, green peppers were a good size. Sauce was average, almost like a Sysco type of sauce, not a big fan. I'd definitely come back and try this not toasted and other things on the .menu.

Omg this place is so worth it!!! The place is so cute with the fresh salad bar and wines... also very clean and wasn't too packed on a Sunday & the waitress was so sweet and kind such a good vibe sweet soul I tell you... I wanted to try everything! Lol seriously tho everything looked so good I went here with my uncle Dan and his friend Diana and we started out with the huge meatball appetizer with the Alfred sauce smothered over it it was SERIOUSLY COOKED PERFECTLY (chefs kiss) honestly, you could order that and itself as a meal it's a huge meatball and we all had a good little bite... The meatball is so flavorful salted to perfection with the right amount of everything ! Meatball was literally not too hard not too soft.... Just mouthwatering goodness I wish I had another one right now.... Just that alone is a good reason to go there, but I advise you you're definitely gonna wanna order more than one lol my uncle's friend Diana got her some soup and salad, which looks so fresh and amazing. Don't even know what all she ordered for soup but I could smell it and it smelled fantastic. then my uncle ordered him a potato soup which I didn't try but it looked like pretty standard typical potato soup kind of weird I guess I don't Italian restaurant but I bet you it was fantastic... as for myself, I couldn't help but order the cheese raviolis with tomato and meat sauce.... So delicious &the perfect amount I honestly could've ate more... I also really wanted to try the manicotti ... because well, who can resist cheese? haha anyways, do not pass up this place look no further Mario's is where it's at for ITALIAN It puts most Italian restaurants to shame the only other Italian restaurant I'm really into besides Mario's. Is La Griglia but that's all the way downtown. and I'll always want to go back here! Until next time!

When we arrived, we seated ourselves outside, where there was only one other group present. Despite the patio being very small and the waitress coming in and out several times, we were never acknowledged or approached. After waiting for some time, I went inside and spoke with the owner, Adolf. He came out to our table and briefly discussed menu options with us. I asked specifically about the fish and chips, as we were told some dishes were no longer available due to an earlier rush. He said he would go check on that for me--but he never returned. Fifteen minutes later, we still had not received any service. When the waitress came back onto the patio again, I called her over and asked when we might be helped. She told me she "did not see us there," which I found difficult to believe given the size of the patio. After that interaction, she did not return to take our order. I went back inside and spoke with the owner again, this time clearly frustrated. He looked me directly in the eyes, raised both hands, and said, "You can calm down now." He repeated it in a tone that felt condescending and dismissive. I responded, "Thank you for giving me permission to calm down," and at that point, I turned around, walked out, and left with my friend to dine elsewhere. I cannot comment on the quality of the food because we were never served. I can comment on the service, which was extremely poor. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate the service a zero. Based on this experience, I will not be returning to The Velvet Quarter.

Sub was good, not as great as the Texas city location, but still a quality sub. The issue was the service. Never have I ever experienced such rudeness from staff. Walking in (again, for the first time) I am greeted with a "what do you want" yell. I thought he was joking or messing around at first, but no, dude was serious. I give my order and try to pay. Another yell from him "you pay after you eat" ok, that works, too. All the while, the two other guys on duty are groaning about not having enough time to prepare for the day, complaining about customers on Saturdays, and more. I'm all for hole in the wall, simple no frills dining, but this place had an overall terrible, terrible vibe. I finish eating and go to pay. Guy barks orders at me on how to tap my card. I try different attempts, finally the card reader shows an error. Dude yells at me "LISTEN, OR THAT WILL HAPPEN". Turns out, his WiFi network wasn't on the whole time. Upon discovering this, in his defense he did apologize - but cmon dude. Shouldn't ever treat a customer like that. I slide my card and it works first try, after he turned the WiFi network on. I bumped my tip down from 22% to 18% and walked out. As I exit, I hear grumbles of complaints coming from the dude. Serious disappointment here. Never returning. I hate for one location to taint the other, but I can't say this makes me want to revisit my beloved Texas city location by my house any more, either.

My vehicle broke down at the dock at Lakeside Yachting Center during a storm, and I couldn't find a tow company willing to come get me. I ended up being stuck at the dock overnight. The staff at Seabrook Classic Cafe were incredibly kind and let me come in to charge my phone while I figured things out. I was very hungry, so I ordered their egg sandwich, and it was fresh and delicious. Even though I live about an hour away, that experience made such a good impression that I came back later to try more of their menu. I'm happy to say everything else I tried was just as good. The stuffed jalapenos were excellent, very flavorful and stuffed with crab and cheese. I also ordered the chicken fried chicken, which was great, especially with their toast. The fruit bowl was fresh, and of course I had to get another egg sandwich, which was just as good as I remembered. They even brought us a complimentary slice of carrot cake, and it was fantastic. I'll definitely be coming back again to get more of that carrot cake, and next time I'd also love to try their prime rib. Our server was very friendly, and I really enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant. It has a cozy, retro diner feel that makes it a great place to sit down and relax. I got the Chicken and Gravy while my friend got the Chicken and Waffles and we both finished our plates cleanly. The service was slow, yes, but they were extremely nice and did have multiple prefaces regarding the wait time. The only I had food wise was that the candied sweet potatoes were a little too sweet for me (and trust me, I love myself some candied sweet potatoes) and I feel like the okra or another one of the sides would've been a better fit for me. The chicken I had was extremely tender and juicy, and the gravy had the perfect amount of sweet and salty where I just gobbled it down with everything. When he clarified that they still had about 30 minutes until closing, she made the same noise again and remained extremely rude.
