Food was not even average. Had to go to the counter to get help. Waitress was never around and worthless. She could hardly speak english. They got my wife's order wrong and I had spaghetti. A salad was suppose to come with it and they charged me $7. Believe me the salad was nowhere worth $7. The online menu shows it as part of the meals. I have a screen shot of it. Unfortunately yelp will not allow me to include the picture. There was no handicap parking or means to use handicap services and had to struggle going up the stairs. I used to love this place. The food is still just as good, but I hate how they nickel and dime their customers. The lunch special spaghetti seems affordable, until you realize that they charge extra for meatballs. They used to have a cup of soup included with the entree. That's no longer the case. But yesterday was the final nail in the coffin. My favorite menu item, which was a giant softball sized meatball, was replaced by a bowl of three regular sized meatballs. Sorry Mario's. But until you become a good deal again, I'll get my Italian fix elsewhere. read more

We ordered the Margarita pizza with fresh basil and it was fabulous! I added a salad bar with mine. The salad bar had a variety of items and all were very fresh ingredients. Here's a little gem a short ways from 146. Mario's is a large, bright, clean restaurant with lots of parking. It's not a typical pizza joint, more like a restaurant that has several Italian options. We came during lunch time, when they have a AYCE buffet for $13. All-You-Can-Eat typically loses money on me, and my teenage daughter has started to really develop an appetite, poor guys. My damage was 6 slices, so was the girl's, and the Hunny could barely finish #3 so she gave me her fourth, that makes 7 for me. And that includes the bowl of rabbit food. The pizza is pretty good. Mario's special has a lot on it: pepperoni, sausage, olives, and jalapenos, great flavor. The slices are quite small, and the crust is pretty wimpy on the bottom. But the taste is good. They also sell ham & pineapple, apologies to those who believe that pineapple does not belong on pizza. Overall, a pleasant outing, whether for a night out or to fill yourself on the way to the Kemah Boardwalk. The girl says that all they need now is to put Mario into red overalls and add Luigi next to him - but Princess Peach is in another castle! read more

I stopped in for an early dinner and the restaurant was not busy at all. I was told to sit anywhere, and I picked a spot close to the salad bar. The menu was large, and I decided on the Manicotti. My waitress took my order right away and told me that a trip to the salad bar was included. The salad bar was clean with a good selection. It had shredded ham, which I really like. Everything looked very fresh. They had approx. 6 different dressing choices along with croutons and crackers. My Manicotti arrived and it was smothered in melted mozzarella and very hot. The pasta was really good, not too thick or thin and the cheese filling was very flavorful. The tomato sauce was on the sweet side, in fact I wonder if this is their pizza sauce because I could totally see that. My dinner also came with some bread and that was really the only disappointment I had; it didn't live up to the rest of the food. They should have had much better bread. Overall, a really good dining experience. I would most definingly go back if I am ever in town again. read more

Came in after the lunch rush, fast friendly service. I'm a huge critic of Italian food coming from my early youth around many Italian immigrants or 1st generation. The service was very good and they offered our duty crews a public service discount which was very nice. My sandwich came toasted which made it hard with a lot of crumbs, The sausage was sliced small but was plentiful, green peppers were a good size. Sauce was average, almost like a Sysco type of sauce, not a big fan. I'd definitely come back and try this not toasted and other things on the .menu. read more

The place is so cute with the fresh salad bar and wines... also very clean and wasn't too packed on a Sunday & the waitress was so sweet and kind such a good vibe sweet soul I tell you... Lol seriously tho everything looked so good I went here with my uncle Dan and his friend Diana and we started out with the huge meatball appetizer with the Alfred sauce smothered over it it was SERIOUSLY COOKED PERFECTLY (chefs kiss) honestly, you could order that and itself as a meal it's a huge meatball and we all had a good little bite... The meatball is so flavorful salted to perfection with the right amount of everything ! Meatball was literally not too hard not too soft.... Just mouthwatering goodness I wish I had another one right now.... First time visiting and just was not impressed. My mom goes to mention to the waitress who got our drinks and brought menus that it's our first time she smiles and walks off. Then another lady brings our food and napkins. I ask for extra napkins 10 minutes later and she says you have napkins right here it was one napkin and I had already cleaned my hands on it. My wife and I were out exploring The area for the day and stopped in here for some good Italian food. Sadly this was not even close. We ordered toasted ravioli and we got microwaved ravioli. The outside was hot soggy and the middle was still cold. You need to add 45 more seconds next time. My wife ordered Chicken Marsala and what she got was this salty brown gelatinous glob. It was so bad she sent it back after 2 bites and I've never seen her send anything back. I ordered the pasta trio of spaghetti and meatballs, chicken fettuccine, and manicotti. The spaghetti sauce was ok the noddles where wet and I poured the water off my plate there was so much. The meatballs tasted like nothing, not even salt, the Malachi you could tell Was microwaved the ends of the shell was crunchy and the middle was cold. The chicken fettuccine was bland and they for hot my chicken. The waiter brought it out in a bowl 30 seconds later so another microwave dish or they already had it precooked regardless it was frozen chicken and not fresh cooked. Our waitress had us and another table and she disappeared all the time. We had to get another waiters attention to go and get her. One of the workers just stood in the corner and watched the room for 25 mins. Overall this was one of the worst Italian meals I've ever had and I find that sad becuse we wanted to try other items on the menu. Finding out that the meals are not fresh and its overpriced microwave crap is a definite we will not for us. read more

Amazing salad bar!!! and great service. My daughter especially loves to play with the pizza dough while we wait for our food.

This was our first visit to the new location. I did not miss the worn out seats and dirty carpet from the old location, but something was amiss at the new location. Ambiance: I felt like I was at a daycare center, and the children were talking loudly all at once. My husband and I could not hear each other at all. Beer: We love Blue Moon. Our waitress brought the beer, but we had to ask for the frosted mugs. Also--one of my pet peeves--they did not have orange slices. Salad Bar: Mario's needs a salad spinner! The lettuce was extremely wet--swimming in water wet. They also need to train someone to tear the lettuce into smaller bites and chop the boiled egg which were a mess. Pizza: we ordered the Mario Special, which most places call the Supreme. I think it only had pepperoni and hamburger meat and very few veggies. Waitress: So, so. Even though convenient and business was booming, I'm not sure we will be back. read more

I found the woman, named Katie who answered the phone, very curt and rude - - as though I were to know what the sizes of the pizzas were and to ensure that I ordered the pizza quickly. So when I was informed the 10 inch speciality pizza was to be about $15, I ordered the pizza. But then when I thought of the way she approached her job, I promptly called back to cancel the order and went to another pizza restaurant. I know this establishment has a great reputation for its food, but I also expect first class service as well. And if I'm not receiving it, I'll go elsewhere to spend my money. read more
