Mason's location reminds me most of the original store...minus all of the photographs, signatures, and plastic plants. We went twice during the opening week (carry out + dine in) and it was great! The deluxe is the best...and pulling a can of coke out of the fridge + mug of ice really takes me back. The pizza is thin crust and the only thin crust pizza I like. No comparison to frozen pizzas. I don't eat frozen pizza and LOVE Marions! Best place to go with a big group, grab a couple of tables in a corner, grab a couple of pizzas, couple of pitchers and sit for a couple of hours. Great place to go with sports teams at the end of a season. Oh...and ask for your pizza to be cooked in the 'old ovens' and ask for a second bowl to split a salad...they really jam the ingredients in there (italian dressing is wonderful). I've been there 3 times in as many years and always find the taste of the pizza to be most underwhelming. For those from Dayton who swoon over the product, that's understandable since you grew up with it. Those from the east coast almost become unhinged if you ask how they feel about Marion's. But here's the good news for those who love it. The place is always empty, so you should never have to wait to get anything to eat. Very few others care to eat there if the number of cars in the parking lot is any indication. Did someone say crowd? What crowd? Every time I drive by the place it's so consistently empty, I wonder how they can afford to stay open. The pizza can be described as bland. A salad is white iceberg lettuce served in a styrofoam bowl. The draft beer and soft drinks are good and cold, but you have to order and pay at a separate location away from where the pizza is ordered. Very strange. Huge building. Great for large groups, but there is no floor staff for serving food or drinks. It's all self- serve. Come get it when your number is called. read more

Very good for thin crust pizza when I'm not even a fan of that style. I had the veggies + sausage, and the crust was nice and crispy with a lot of toppings from edge to edge. My favorite pizza. Yes, I'm originally from Dayton, but it's far better pizza than LaRosa's. It's different than New York-style pizza (e.g., Dewey's) since it's Dayton-style, but I think it's delicious. Most of my co-workers to whom I've introduced it consider it among their favorites as well, many requesting to drive a half-hour for lunch here on occasion. Two separate lines to order, one for food and one for drinks. Really???? And the best part, no refills on the soda. Is there even a place left in the sit down restaurant world without free refills. While I know they have pitchers, how many kids can agree on all the same soda. As for the pizza, nothing great. In fact, I would say most high end prepackaged pizzas from Meijer/Kroger are just as good. I am always a little leery when i see the pizzas pre-made when i order in a rack. My friends in Vandalia had bragged about this place. My wife and I took our granddaughter for dinner tonight. Delicious, thin crust pizza! I went today for the first time. It was disappointing. The pizza was OK. We weren't told about the lunch specials when we ordered-even though we were there at lunch and didn't find out until we had paid, waited in another line for our drinks and then sat down. When I got the box for the leftover pizza and the manager asked how it was, I told her it would have been nice to know about the lunch specials before we ordered. Won't be back. read more

This is what people from Dayton, OH consider Pizza? Do you think it looks like a up class version of a Totino's $1 pizza? Well, your right on the look but with complete honesty I can say that Totino's pizza is better than this flavorless thing. I didn't think Totino's and flavor would ever have a place in a sentence together until now. I ordered a 9 inch sausage pizza, with extra sauce. I didn't know sausage could be flavorless until I tried Marion's special sausage (I forget what the special name of the sausage was beside the menu option). I ordered extra sauce because I like my pies nice and saucy. All the extra sauce order for $1 added from my perspective was that small dollop of it in the middle of the pizza. I also found it highly annoying that I had to order my food from one counter and pay for it then had to go to another counter and whip out my credit card again to pay for a drink. Really? Who thought that was a good idea? In short Dayton and Marion's please keep your downgraded Totino's pizza away from Cincinnati. Thanks. read more

Very disappointed. From the decor to the food, the feeling is that the lowest bid rules Marion's Piazza every decision and design choice. When I saw the large construction and the impressive exterior I assumed it was going to be a place for a nice sit down meal. Truck stop atmosphere with factory inspired food. Definitely not a place for newcomers. Chaotic, loud, obnoxious environment with incredibly unhelpful staff. By the time we figured out how/where to order (I should have read reviews first - but perhaps if I had, I wouldn't have chosen to visit...) we were already thinking this was a mistake. I had a group (6) of hungry people and overall, the pizza was okay. Definitely not our preferred crust and we were disappointed that Hawaiian wasn't possible since they don't have pineapple as a topping but we got past it. We drank water and you'd think we were criminals the way the guy behind the drink counter treated us. I wondered if he got paid on commission as he made it clear that we were annoying him when we wanted more. No pitchers allowed for water? Really? Okay, then we'd like six more cups of it... no ice, please, since you packed ice into the originals we got. Honestly, it seems they rely on their "#1 in Dayton" image (do people in Dayton have taste buds?) to make up for the fact that their customer service is some of the worst I've seen in Ohio. No... Where do I even begin with this place. Chicago and New York always fight about who's pizza is best. They would team up to say this SUCKS! Save yourself a trip go to your cupboard grab a cracker put some ketchup, cheese on it toss it in the microwave enjoy! Seriously this place is a horrible. You have to order and pay for your pizza then go to the OTHER side wait in line AGAIN and order and pay for your drinks what the heck is that about. I love that you have such a short wait time, in comparison to other pizza places. The employees are always so nice, and the reason there is two lines, one for drinks and one for food, is because the bar area serves beer, and the counter area is where the younger employees work that cannot serve or ring up beer. I love the atmosphere and the decorations. I love the game room and the bathrooms are clean everything is very nice. :) read more

With the plethora of available pizza options, it isn't too difficult to find something that matches your pallet choice. I have to say, Marion's didn't match mine. The environment and facilities are appropriate for families and large parties, their pricing is not so much. We spent $60 on a family of 6 without drinks - which frankly is not overpriced compared to what I would consider their closest competition, Cassano's - but they are both overpriced when compared to actual gourmet pizza like Dewy's. Budget aside, I'd pay through-the-nose if I really liked the pizza. I do love the small bite-sized squares, however, Marion's sauce is on the sour / vinegary side, compared with a sweeter sauce like LaRosa's, or even a more balanced approach like Papa John's. The cheese, while plentiful, neither tastes like cheese nor feels like cheese - it has a spongy, dissolve in your mouth, consistency that I just don't appreciate as cheese. I wouldn't avoid going back, but I wouldn't volunteer either. read more

Why are pasta entrees served in disposable aluminium foil dishes with plastic utensils? That's okay for a picnic, but not for a sit-down restaurant. After all the hype we decided to try this place. We live near the new Mason location and with much anticipation placed our order. First of all, I want to say that my wife has friends from Dayton and they all rave about the sausage. After the first bite....we could not believe what we were eating. Those little pizzas you had in school in the 70's with the crumbled sausage may actually taste a little better. This has got to be the worst Pizza I have ever had. On a scale of 1-10 its a -10 !!!!. My husband and I were so anxious for Marion's to open. The look of the outside building is absolutely beautiful, however we thought with so much money into the building that the food would be amazing.
