Update: he helped me out with my new car. Gave me a second opinion on the engine and offered to check some potential issues for me after a few months, gratis. He also did the needed repairs on the new car: Updated brakes and tie rods. He let me use my own brakes too. He did not talk me into those repairs, those came from another shop's pre-purchase inspection. It still runs good about 4k miles later! read more

Just like another HUGE company; People, products, profits. Great techs, great "no corners cut " products and we'll deserved profits. The repairs and painting blow away ALL the competitors across the street and down the block! HANDS DOWN! read more

I had a list of work to be done on my 1975 Buick Electra 225. Marin assured me his shop was familiar with older cars. He pointed out an old Cadillac they worked on. When I picked up my car a couple weeks later, Marin said they weren't familiar with carburetors, just the opposite. He previously told me his mechanic came from Cuba and was an expert on these types of cars. I want to say Marin seems like a good guy, but he should've been honest with me. Also, work was done I didn't ask for. The valve covers and air cleaner were painted red. Even worse, the carburetor was taken apart and cleaned. He didn't ask me, and I specifically told him the carburetor was clean when I dropped off the car. Instead of changing the fuel filter, Eric (mechanic) cleaned it. Since he had taken everything apart he should have changed it, common sense. He also didn't change the thermostat. The metal housing of the thermostat was changed. Common sense is to then change the thermostat. Another issue I wanted fix is a choke issue. The car wouldn't slow down on a cold start after tapping the gas pedal. These cars need to rev high for at least a minute. This gets everything going. You then tap on the gas and the engine slows down. I told Marin it wasn't slowing down. Now the car starts up but doesn't rev high. It dies if you try to drive away. He apparently just disconnected the cold start screw on the carburetor to slow down the engine. Once the weather cools the car won't be able to start. I now need to take my car to another mechanic to correct this issue. I also need to find out why my car is leaking. I had him replace the valve cover gaskets. Hopefully that's not causing the leak. Finally, Marin never gave me a written estimate. I kept asking him for an estimate. Finally he verbally told me we were around $1,200. At the end he said the bill was $2,000. Unacceptable. He should have updated me every time more work was needed. Like I said before, he should've been honest and told me they weren't able to work on a classic car. Eric, the mechanic, is a good guy, but he obviously isn't qualified to work on a classic car. I'm really frustrated because I paid $1,900 cash and the car needs more work. The final invoice doesn't even detail the oil used and the valve cover gaskets I told him to use, as well as the antifreeze. Everything should've been itemized. The invoice also listed the car as a Regal instead of an Electra. Marin said his software didn't list my car read more

Marin is honest and trustworthy and offers good prices. He's fixed (perfectly) several of our cars from dents and when we got rear-ended. They detailed our car after a pet accident, and it was as good as new. Highly recommend. read more

These guys do great work. They've done body work on my car and wife's car. Perfect. I'm not going anywhere else.

I have gone to Marin, Auto Body several times, never to be disappointed in the quality of his work. I have also recommended him to many friends and they too have been very pleased. I had an accident with my car and took my car to them for repair. They handled everything with State Farm, arranged for a rental and fixed by car in the time frame they gave me. In addition, they cleaned both the inside and outside of the car and it looked showroom ready. What great service they give in a time of need. Most of us do not have accidents very often and it is confusing on what needs to be done and they walked me thorugh everything and were very helpful. I have used them before for minor work and they were always very good at fixing it at a fair price and quickly. I would recommend them for any time of body repair. read more

I'm always bad about getting my oil changed on time and always make my appointments last minute (literally the day before or day of my trip) , I usually go next door to palatine complete automotive which is an awesome place, they always do a great job and don't try to rip you off like most auto places! I always prefer private owned businesses over corporate and since it's a holiday weekend I knew most places would be filled. I walked next door to Marin and they were busy but able to fit me in last minute which was awesome! And I found out that they work with the people at palatine complete auto as well! I give them 5 stars because they were super friendly and didn't seem annoyed that I came in so last minute and they literally saved my weekend!! And you can't beat their prices! Highly recommend! read more

If you're looking for an HONEST auto repair or auto body shop, look no further. I have brought my wife's car (formerly a Nissan Altima, and now Lexus IS250) and mine (previously Mitsubishi Eclipse and now Acura TL) for years. Marin does an excellent job whether we need a simple oil change, fixing up dents from a "fender bender" or mechanical or maintenance issues. He's always cheaper than I would expect, and always seems to solve whatever issue affect our vehicles. The customer service is top notch (always gives me a free car wash after every service), and even drops off my car to by place of work. Perhaps the most important aspect is that Marin is 100% honest and reliable. He has never tried to fix something that didn't need repair, and advised me if a problem was a "necessary fix" or something that we could live with and save on costs. As an attorney for almost a decade, I would not hesitate to recommend him to any friend, family member or colleague. RATING: A+ read more

Great service and quality work! I came in with an unusual problem not covered by insurance. Their quote was $1000 lower than anyone else I had contacted. The work was top notch and done in the time promised. They even took me home after I dropped it off (my son didn't show up in time). Marin did amazing work on the scratches and dents on my car. He provided a loaner car, and did not charge me an arm and a leg, and even changed the oil. it was very affordable. When I picked up my car, it was cleaned inside and outside. The service Marin provided to me was top-notched. Do not bother to go to big shop on Colfax that will charge big bucks for the same work, I recommend to try Marin first. I will go back to Marin for any of my future work. read more

They were very professional and friendly and did a fantastic job with my car! They dealt with all of the insurance including driving it over to get the estimate approved since I hadn't figured that out ahead of time. The car came back to me good as new. They even alerted me to something they found under the hood that indicated that squirrels were getting in there and gave me suggestions on how to prevent it before they do damage to the wiring. read more
