Very expensive and doesn't do quality work. I went to her several years ago to get a couple of zippers replaced in some dress pants for work. She charged me $50 per zipper and when I went to pick up the pants the zippers didn't even match the fabric! (I.e. a red zipper in navy pants!) Terrible all around. She charged a fortune to alter a dress, almost cost as much as the prom dress itself. I should have known when I asked her how much it's going to be, and she wouldn't tell me. After she rushed to do all the measurements, gave me a ticket and went right to the back again. I didn't have a chance to talk to her more. I was skeptical how fast she did the measurement, but I thought maybe she was efficient, but boy was I wrong. The worst part was I was tripping all night long, left and right, literally. Since I want to wear the same dress for another event, I took the dress to someone else. She was measuring the length of my dress in front of me. The 4 sides of the dress had 4 different length, some as much as 2 inches different. No wonder I was tripping so much. How could she charged so much for such a lousy job. I came in for alterations to a bridesmaid dress. Unfortunately, I should have asked beforehand how much the dress would be and how much it would be to put pins in the dress that she was clearly rushed to do. The alterations were $120 which she did not disclose before trying to rush the dress to the back. Had I not asked the price I would've had to pay this. I kindly declined to pay $120 for alterations for a dress I'll never wear again and frankly costs just as much as the dress. She said she doesn't work for free and charged me for the $15 for pins in the dress. I would not have left this review had she left the pins in the dress that I paid for and disclose the amounts. Seems as if she's trying to get people stuck with a bill. Thankfully, I found a place at a reasonable price of $45. read more

Came in for alterations to a pair of jeans. I thought something very simple to do in San Jose they normally charge 7-15 dollars for a simple bastille and they take hours to fix, you can come back the same day to collect them. When I got there I told her what I wanted to do. I came in on a Wednesday morning and she said they'll be ready by next Tuesday at the end of the day. She was very serious and did not smile once. So, I figured I'm to in a rush so I left them. Unfortunately when I came back to collect them I get hit with the prize. She charged me $54.00 plus tax. I had pay for this jeans $17.00 on line and they were super cute so having them altered was an ok to do. I was not expecting this kind of charge, of course is expensive at this place and I was not happy with the end results. The work she does was not that good and the charge is high. We stopped by Marie to get get the ruffle taken off the dress and the straps tighter. It was a rush for next day. We came to pick it up next day, and paid $35 + tax = $38. do NOT bring your bridal dress here. Marie ruined my dress I now have to go take her to court because I cannot wear it for my wedding in 2 months. She is extremely unprofessional in handling situations by trying to point the finger else wear she tried to tell me that I gained weight when in reality I lost 7lbs and even if that mattered my measurements are much smaller than the size the dress comes in. She then tried to say the dress was used and had previously been altered. The dress was a sample sale but it was in good enough condition for me to pay 1,000 and it was never previously altered in any way! She will not take accountability for her messing up my dress. Disgusting behavior by a person who comes off as very sweet... I was disappointed to begin with when she brought my lace and crystals, sequins, dress from the backroom, rolled up making it pull on the lace all over. She then in my face pulls it apart the lace from the beads and beads fell off in front of me. I paid her because she would not let me take the dress but she wont even finish what I paid her for which included the bustle and the beading on the top she wont undue whatever it is she did to make it all much smaller . I repeat DO NOT bring your wedding items here I wouldn't trust her with any clothing she does a terrible job the lace on the bottom of my dress is uneven one part is way off the floor. its just embarrassing. This woman kicked me out while I was looking for a dress because I was waiting for a ride. She heard me on the phone asking my dad to get me but I walked there from the gym just to look at dresses for my graduation, as a explained to her when I walked in, and she kicked me out. She also tried to change her mind on why I had to leave "because she had to make an alteration." I'd like to see a sign that says other customers can't look at the merchandise while making your alterations. Very poor customer service and way overpriced clothes anyway. I have gone to Marie to years to have alterations done to bridesmaid gowns, work slacks, and nice denim jeans. For the most part you can walk in without an appointment and get whatever item you have set up for the alterations to be done. In the years that I have been going there, I have had some dresses altered that were for some professional performances that turned out great! All have been in a timely manner and prices for alterations are moderate to expensive depending on what exactly needs to have be done. I took my wedding dress to Marie with a rather short time frame. A little over a week to go when I gave her the dress. I was running late the evening I was supposed to drop my dress of, I called and begged her to stay open until I got there. She agreed to do so and it was a life saver for me. Picked up my dress the day we agreed on. It was fabulous. You couldn't even tell it had been altered. It looks just as good as it did when I bought it. Alterations were expensive. I've come to her a few times to get my dresses hemmed. Ridiculously overpriced, but at the time, I wasn't familiar with any other seamstresses around the area. She's friendly enough, but I do feel that condescending attitude underneath the sweet voice and politeness (as what previous reviewers mentioned). What I have been meaning to post for the longest time ever was the alterations she made with my jeans a long while back. I showed her an example of how I wanted the original hem to be re-attached (I showed her an example of another seamstress' work from San Jose) and she made a point of how it was unprofessionally done. So I gave her the benefit of the doubt and had her go ahead and do it her way..she went on to tell her background story of her being a professional designer etc. Needless to say, I paid so much more for alterations that looked sloppy to me. This lady does good work but she has zero customer service and is unreliable! I took my wedding dress here two months ago because I was told that she is the best. My wedding dress needed to be hemmed, have a panel added, and needed a bustle as well as the lining bustled. My mom also dropped off a dress. My mom was never called when the dress was completed. We had to call to find out. A week later my dress was done and it only took about a month! When we arrived to try on the dress the hem was perfect, but she forgot to add the panel and did not bustle the lining of the dress. We came back one week later on Tuesday, (even though she said the dress would be done before that). When we arrive she gave me a "deer in the headlights" look and said "Uh, Um, Your dress is not ready. I just got so busy and loaded down that I didn't get it finished. Come back tomorrow!" My mom and I had to take off early from work each day to come here so we were very annoyed but we figured that we would let it slide because sometimes things come up. When we arrived the next day she said there was no need to try the dress on and she showed me the panel she added. It looked good, but before we left my mom asked her a few questions about the bustle and lifted up the material to see the other bustle. When she did that all we saw was a yellow pin sticking in the material where the bustle should have been. She gave me the same airhead look and said "Uh. Um, do you live nearby?" and I said Morgan Hill. So she said "Do you think you can go get some coffee? I can have it done in half an hour." So my mom and I left and got a sandwich at Nob Hill which was excellent! When we came back she had the dress finished (finally). The alterations were a bit over priced. She did not offer any discounts or apologies for all the trouble she made us go through. She even made a remark about how she had to press the dress again because the last time we came in we "stuffed it in the bag and got it totally wrinkled". By the way, we never put the dress in any bag so we don't know what she was talking about. The next day my mom was very upset by the whole situation so she decided to call her. She told her that she does great work, but does not have the best customer service. My mom was nice while she was talking to her, and said that she hopes in the future she will write down everything that needs to be completed. However, Marie was very defensive and said it was my fault for not coming in sooner to try the dress on. WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH HER GETTING EVERYTHING DONE THE FIRST TIME???? I have no idea.
