I enjoyed my experience at Kim's. I needed some hemming and tapering for four pairs of pants. She took my measurements right away and it took her a week to do all four pairs. I had asked about adding pockets to one pair and she gave me her honest opinion, saying it was very expensive to do so and recommended against it, which I appreciate. Yes, her service is pricier than anticipated but I am very satisfied with her work! I even took two pairs of cargo pants for her to do. She only accepts cash, but she mentions that from the start which I think is just fine. I've no doubt I'll need more adjustments in the future and I will definitely be going back to Kim's for her service. read more

I came in to ask Kim to alter an embroidered dress as well as a full length maxi dress. The two dresses would cost me over $150. To hem a maxi dress straight across it was $28 CASH only. Charge a fee if you need to so you can accept credit cards... it's the cost of doing business. read more

I've been here twice. Once to have jeans altered with only one day notice. A second time to have my daughter's dress altered with about 2 days notice. The dress and the jeans were ready on-time and were correct. I think the alteration on the jeans was $12.00 and the dress $20+. Seems a bit high - but I really have nothing to compare it to, therefore I have no complaints. read more

Very expensive and dreadful customer service. After charging me a small fortune for an alteration that was incorrect, she wanted to charge me again to fix her mistake and argued with me that I didn't know what I asked for. Just went in to get a quote for alterations and was quoted $65 at first. Then I tried on the dress and she said $85. I only paid $150 for the dress! I decided to take my dress elsewhere. And she wanted to charge me a fee for canceling! $15 because she said it was her fee for fitting me!!! I told her that she should've mentioned that ahead of time!! She said she would do it for $65 instead because she felt bad. At this point I was already upset! So I paid her the fee and left! read more

She does a good job with the hems and alterations. I usually come here to get my pants shortened and dresses altered. She has a pretty quick turn around when you tell her what day you need it by. You need to know tailoring if you want to use Kim. I took a shirt in to have the sleeves shortened and after receiving it back it looked like a pirate shirt with puffy sleeves. When I confronted Kim I was told that if I wanted the sleeves tapered to the cuff I should have told her. It seemed obvious to me that to keep the same appearance of the sleeve, she would have automatically tapered the sleeve so that it was the correct size at the cuff. Kim refused to make it right unless I paid her more. I promised to inform others of her unprofessional position. read more

Disclaimer: I haven't actually had anything altered here so I cannot comment on the work. I'm writing the review based on initial service and price. Took a pair of jeans in to have the waist taken in. When I inquired on the price (having never been there before) she looked me up and down and said "$38." I was like "really?" And her body language said she could care less if she got my business! The place I used to go (before moving to south county) only charges $15! I still can't believe the price hike! I'll be going back to Nancy's Alteration's on Saratoga in SJ. She does an wonderful job at half the price! read more

Kim took time to carefully measure the alterations, taking into account how the dress would sit when worn. The end result looked perfect! I have used Kim's about 5 times over several years. She carefully pins garments while you try them on, she asks good questions, she listens to what you want. Excellent and professional result. I think the price is not unreasonable; you are paying for a labor intensive and skilled service. I only bring clothes for alteration that are really worth the expense to me. read more

Kim's alterations have been perfect every time. I do not sew and really do not have any idea what is involved, at first I thought she was pricy. After seeing her work I have changed my mind and say her prices are fair and reasonable based on her workmanship. I have been going to Kim's Alteration for the past 12 years. She has done great work. Recently I have given her four items to alter, one pair of jeans, one dress and two women's suits, totaling over $300.00. One suit was done nicely and the other one was still way too big. When I brought it back to her, she refused to adjust without additional payment, and would not refund any or portion of the money back. I lost at least $100.00 and explain to her that she is about to lose a customer if she cannot refund even a portion of the money back. She did not care and just stated "sorry". Be careful.
