    a woman ordering food

The hamburgers and tortas here are pretty good. Quality is OK, and prices are what you'd expect. I'd say Maria's is a good addition to the Mercado Central lineup. So far I've had hamburguesas Lujo and Toreada. I intend to return to try the Hawaiian burger, as well as the other tortas. The only downside of getting food here is that the service can be very unfriendly if you don't speak Spanish. I am accustomed to some language barrier when ordering food at ethnic restaurants (especially in highly segregated Minneapolis), but not this level of outright rudeness. It's enough to dampen the experience. I'll update this review as I try other menu items, and will make a note if the service ever gets friendlier.

I saw people ordering beer flights and Bloody Marys so the bar looks good. I stuck with coffee as it was a Tuesday. Egg sandwich was great and my friend had a frittata. A great beer selection and cocktails that looked delicious but the server didn't seem to know very much about either. The brussel sprouts were my favorite part, you have to try them if you come here. I got the bacon truffle burger with no bacon and the impossible patty substituted and it was quite tasty but nothing very special to be honest, most restaurants could replicate it so I thought it was a bit overpriced. I got the sweet potato fries with it which were delicious and came with an amazing chipotle aioli but they forgot to bring them out and I had to remind the serve about them. Overall, service and ambiance were great. We were checked in on just enough and felt very comfortable. The food was between good and great, some things were incredible and some weren't too special but still tasty. I would come back here but not on my own dime.

What a delightful surprise!…read moreThe atmosphere was super charming, everyone was really nice, our waiter was quirky and attentive, and the food was outstanding! We shared the Pan Roasted Hanger Steak, which was cooked perfectly at medium rare, the Deviled Eggs with lake superior whitefish roe, the Roasted Halloumi (which is a firm, brined Cypriot cheese we learned, which was delicious!) with badger flame beet glaze, celery-date-walnut salad, and lemon oil, and a plate of olives. The wine list was exceptional, as was the selection of after-dinner drinks. If I lived in Minneapolis, I could envision this becoming a favorite spot! So, so, so good!! Only one tiny suggestion ... the potatoes were perfect when we added just a little salt!

The service was genuinely friendly and pleasant throughout our visit, which went a long way. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the setting. I tried the NY Strip special, which was fine but nothing memorable - exactly what you'd expect, no more, no less. The oysters were disappointing for the price point; the quality just wasn't there. The mushroom bruschetta similarly underwhelmed - it felt like it was missing something to make it stand out. The bright spot? The drinks were solid and well-crafted. I wanted to rate this higher based on the atmosphere and service alone, but at the end of the day, the food has to deliver. With so many great options in Minneapolis, Nightingale needs to step up its culinary game to match its lovely setting. I'd consider returning for drinks, but probably not for dinner.

This place does get busy so definitely keep that in mind. Luckily I made reservations ahead of time so we had a table waiting for us, otherwise we would have been put on a waiting list since it's a small space. They put us in a corner booth which was nice and spacious enough for 4 people so I'd definitely recommend asking for a booth verse a table if you're planning to come with a larger group. The servers are all very friendly and helpful. I appreciated their attentiveness and sharing what they like best, especially for what's in season based on the time of year. The menu has quite a bit of variety too which is sometimes unexpected when you come to a pub-style location. For appetizers we got Onion Ring and Fried Pickles. They were both really good and served with dipping sauces. Definitely both shareable items so if you're in a group they'd be great options! My entree I chose the Wild Alaskan Sockeye Salmon served with lemon soy marinade, creamy cucumbers, and jasmine rice -- it was SO good!! I loved the creaminess of the cucumbers especially with the rice and than the lemon soy marinade was just a unique touch to the salmon. Toned the flavors down without overpowering acidity. And the salmon was so dreamy, a beautiful pink color that you just knew it wasn't a farm raised salmon. Plus the portion was very generous!! I'd definitely recommend the Alaskan Sockeye Salmon to anyone interested in visiting here. #eatwildsavewild The only negatives (which are more so just knowledge bombs for you): * Restaurant is VERY loud. It's hard to hear because it is one small room that everyone plus the bar is in. I wished I would have took a picture to show what I mean. Just know that if it's an intimate setting you're looking for this is not the place. So be prepared to talk loudly over the loudness and ask "excuse me?" or "repeat that" many times throughout your visit because you're not going to hear everything. * Timed eating. Because this place is a hit with limited seating, once you get a table and complete your meal/payment you'll kindly be asked to leave so that they can clean up and open the table to next in line. Totally get that and am not put off by this at all, but I could see how it could catch some folks off guard especially if you are out for a meal with folks you may not see frequently-- so just keep that in mind. This is not the place to sit and talk post meal. * Parking is limited. Be prepared to walk a few blocks as the road parking in front of the business is pretty limited especially with the other stores and restaurants in the area. Regardless of those few bullets I highly recommend folks visit George & The Dragon. It's a really cool spot and the food was great! Plus theirs a malt shop right next door that looks yummy too, so definitely worth visiting and getting malts after for dessert.

Everytime I've tried something here, I get a stomach ache for couple days, especially their old tasting desserts. 1st time stomach I thought it was just a fluke. Especially the Bellecour restaurant, the desserts there are 1000x better than the days tasting old crap that is served here at SnS. The interior is gorgeous, however, the entire establishment is a 0/10. I would not recommend this place to anyone. What an embarrassment this place is serving bad food to patrons. I recommend spending money at Porzana, Bar La Grassa, Bellecour... anywhere but here. This place is a joke for food. So embarrassing!

I walked in on a random Monday straight from the airport hoping to grab a seat at the bar. I was lucky enough to arrive right before dinner rush and snag the last seat available by the window bar even without a reservation. The hostess kindly took my carryon bag and stored it for me while one of the servers walked me to my seat. The atmosphere is casual and friendly. Fantastic place to hang out and have fun while enjoying good food and drinks with friends. Feels more like an approachable bistro than a stuffy fancy restaurant. The menu is a playful take of American classics with a French twist or viceversa in some cases. I started my meal with a single oyster. Refreshing and bright, it was the perfect way to open the meal. Next was the tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwich. Presentation was a bit sloppy with some soup dripping on the side of the bowl, but the soup was so velvety and delicious I couldn't care any less about. The crispy bread and melty, gooey cheese was immediate comfort on a plate. The tanginess of the cheese went perfectly with the natural sweetness of the soup. Third course was one of the most delicious risottos I've ever had. Earthy mushrooms, creamy , perfectly cooked rice topped with crispy green apple sticks and.....blueberries?! Yes, you read that right... blueberries and apple in a risotto. I would have this vegetarian dish any day. Finally for desert angel fruit cake. Fluffy and not overly sweet. Perfect balance of sweetness and acidity. I could eat this every day
