Food case

The food and coffee were very good. The place is small and the line goes out the door. There's not enough people behind the counter to help. You could wait 20 min to get served. There is outside tables and music on the weekends. I do recommend and I will be back.

Really enjoyed the coffee and the small little "garden" outside. We all ordered the pistachio lattes, and they were very good! Had a strong pistachio flavor and even pieces of pistachio in it. Outside they have a few tables surrounded by plants/flowers - very nice place to sit! We will definetley be back

Visitor in town. Pulled over just because the outside was so beautiful and inviting - 5 stars! At first glance, you think: mom n' pop coffee shop, yummy treats, sweet customer service, delish coffee. Little, quaint coffee shop, indeed. Some tea crackers, some baked goods, and then, some confusing items such as: pasta, olives, stuffed chili peppers, olive oil, etc. Is it a coffee shop or a convenience store? I think Maria was undecided. Service was fine. ***Any order under $15 they prefer in cash, or they will charge extra. Ordered a double espresso and an almond milk latte. Husband said espresso was good. My latte was so extremely hot I burnt my tongue taking a tiny first sip. I had to ask for another cup holder (still hot). I couldn't touch the latte for 1/2 hr walking up and down Main St and in and out of stores. Then had a few sips, and in the trash it went. The almond milk must have been boiled to a crisp and so, the coffee was a dud. Walking out of the store I noticed a bizarro-world sign on the door: No strollers in the shop. Hear ye hear ye - People with babies! You're not welcome here. Maria hates your bébés. Go find another coffee convenience 7/11. Ciao.

Cute coffee shop with friendly service. We ordered an Americano and a Latte. They offer fresh pasties ground coffee for sale. The outside has a seating area with tables, chairs and benches. Nice local coffee shop to support!

Outdoor seating with live music. They serve panini and more here.

Ordered their Americano. Saw some delicious cakes and other baked goodies but was too full. Oh that whisky biscotti looked perfect for dunking into my coffee. Service was very pleasant and the atmosphere was very warm and cozy. While they only had two tables for two, one table for four, there was a big looking high table with tall stools that comfortable fits 8. We can share or perfect fit a larger group. No, I'm not a cop. Lol. Just observed. They grind their beans fresh and the coffee reflects it. For me, and please remember that coffee is subjective but I personally prefer a stronger cup of Americano. I felt they only put in one shot of espresso but I've gotten use to getting two shots. Next time I'll ask them to do that and get it stronger. Definitely worth coming in for a cup of coffee and a baked good.

Quaint coffee shop on Main Street in Chester. The cafe is full of imported Italian food like cookies and pasta. I tried a vanilla bean latte which was delicious, don't often see a vanilla bean option and there were actually specks of bean inside.

Cute coffee and baked goods spot in downtown Chester. I didn't try any of the Italian goods they had but the coffee was delicious. The vanilla bean latte was exceptionally good.

I had a coffee and a wonderful coffee cake here with my sister last week. Next time I'm back in Chester I'll be sure to drop in again.

I had the Smashed Sweet Potato Burger which was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had!!! A delicious brioche roll was filled with two patties made from sweet potatoes and spices, covered in pistachios and crispy shallots, then drizzled with honey. Even a non-Vegan will love this. The standard looking French fries were anything but- they were crispy and delicious with just the right amount of sea salt. The chicken tenders were cooked perfectly and seemed freshly made not frozen. Everyone had to have a taste. The dessert was the showstopper- citrus olive oil cake topped with whipped cream and orange zest. The texture was amazing and it was incredibly delicious. My young grandson had a dish of vanilla ice cream, which also looked standard until you tasted it- super creamy with a strong vanilla flavor that was really outstanding. Everyone enjoyed their meal, which was reasonably priced. I honestly can't wait to go there again. They do things a bit interestingly at Sally Lunn's; when you try to put your name down on a waiting list, they decline a phone number or name, and only ask for your party size. While I trust the front of staff have great memory, I do believe my quoted 10-15 minute wait was stretched to 40 minutes since the front of staff could recognize who spoke with her, but not who she spoke with first. Unless you are very assertive and wait right in front of the service counter, it was common for same party sizes after you to be called first. The interior was quite homely, like visiting a grandmother's house, and was charming in its own way. Service was slow during the busy weekend rush, and from seating to talking to our server was another 10 minute wait, and from ordering to when we received our food was another 45 minute wait. Food-wise, I was disappointed with what we recieved. The Sally blend and Buckingham Palace blend were great tea selections, but just about the only enjoyable hot items coming out of the kitchen. The lobster mac&cheese was super watery and bland, tasting more of milk then cheese or lobster. The cottage pie was cold in the center, and lacked any flavor beyond salty. The sausage roll was tolerable, nice and flaky pastry-wise, but the sausage was meager in serving and dry and rubbery from being overcooked. We also were unfortunate enough to see a bug come crawling out of the Caesar side salad, which along with the olives, was also something that did not belong in a Caesar. The afternoon tea had a fantastic salmon sandwich, but the cucumber and cream cheese was excessively soggy and the egg salad was overpowered by mayo. The best thing we ate was definitely the apple cinnamon scone. Save yourself the wait and hassle, get this scone to go!! It was buttery and moist, had just enough cinnammon and apples without being overpacked that the scone couldn't hold it's weight; truly a lovely autumn treat (and truly the only reason this review has more than 1 star). Parking-wise, they only have a small lot, so you may have to look for other nearby lots or street parking for a spot. There is also only 1 bathroom in the facility for both genders. Overall, I think this was a local gem that is struggling with popularity traffic. Still a great option on a weekday for a tea and pastry break, but would not recommend stopping by for a full meal.

It feels like a hole in the wall, but at the same time is actually very clean and thoughtfully decorated. I loved all of the pictures of old fashioned movie stars on the wall, and much preferred this ambiance to any of my local diners. Our server was a young man who we later found out was the grandson of the owners, who were sitting right at the counter table. It made Marilyn's even more charming to know that it really is just a mom-and-pop that an entire family rallys to takes great pride in. I was really excited to see cheese blintz on the menu, as this is one of my favorites but is not so common! I ordered this, along with a side of bacon, and a decaf coffee. My blintz was excellent and came loaded with fresh fruits and sour cream. It was better than the blintzes I used to order from my favorite Ukranian restaurant in NYC. The bacon was cooked perfectly (crispy!) and my coffee was awesome. I will definitely be returning to bring my husband. I am only knocking off one star (it hurts to do this because I really loved my food and experience here) because they only offer bottled water, they are cash only, and the bathroom was very VERY cramped. Otherwise this would've been a five star review!
