    Strawberry rhubarb pie

If you want a typical Midwest diner for breakfast and lunch with decent, rib-sticking food, not fancy but homey atmosphere and friendly service, then stop at Betty's when you are near Ottertail Lake. We stopped on a hellaciously rainy Monday in June, so we're seated right away and our food came within 5 minutes. We had the special of the day roast beef manhattan sandwich with perfectly soft white bread and mashed potatoes. A tad salty but beef was tender and nice thick slices. The chicken salad with grapes and dill sauce with toasted cranberry wild rice bread (not sweet) was excellent. Finished it off with not-to-be missed pies: strawberry rhubarb and county fair (a chocolate chip toll house like concoction with butterscotch chips; very rich but tasty. Came to $22 without drinks, so pretty reasonable prices.

We came to Bettys Pantry while on vacation with our two boys and we loved every minute of this restaurant. The portions are huge, the price is right, and the flavor is DELICIOUS! We loved it so much we came back a second time the very next day. Biscuits and gravy were so good and the bacon is on another level! I had the avocado eggs Benedict and it was so delicious

So thankful we found this gem of a breakfast place, just wished we would have found it sooner, we would have gone there each day we were up in the area. I was up there with my family for a golf weekend; we had a party of 8 which could have been a long wait but we got lucky that there was a table available. The waitress we had was absolutely wonderful; talked to everyone even the kids which they appreciated. She was genuinely excited about the menu and her recommendations did not disappoint! We shared a ginormous caramel roll and all I have to say about that was WOW! Totally recommend that! The many flavors of French toast were the big hit of the table. The portions were huge and our plans to have pie for dessert were thwarted because everything else was so tasty and filling. Looking forward to when we can visit again!

IF I could give this place six stars, I would. This is what I'm talking about! Cornfield Cafe, the…read morelittle diner inside a hardware store. Dunvilla, Minnesota. Where else can you get a big, fat, juicy omelet AND a spool of barbed wire? Right here, people. This is the real deal. I just sneaked this one in as fall was coming to a close. A friend of mine recommended it and we decided to check it out. Unbelievable drive through lakes area. We rolled up just as the sun was coming up. The doors weren't open, yet, but a kindly gentleman escorted us in through the laundromat (yeah, they have one of those, too!). Come to discover that the laundromat must be a popular way for the locals to get in and get coffee before the lights turn on. A bunch of ol' boys were shooting the breeze in the dark. But, I'm not here to go on like Garrison Keillor. Save that noise for AM radio. This is Yelp and I'm here to give you the heads up on this great little place. First impressions are important, and I have to say that I was impressed... VERY impressed, by the waitress. She was probably in her late 50's, early 60's, maybe. She presented herself very, very well. This is a woman who knows what time it is, and when it is time, it's time for business. She was as sharp as Army ASUs, and you could have set a watch by her work pace. When you see something like that, you know it's going to be a great experience. It's breakfast. So, we get the usual stuff. Some wheat, some birds, and some pigs. Cornfield has a couple menu items that let you fly around the farm. So, that's what I did. All great stuff! You can't go wrong, unless you have one of those vegan philosophies. It ain't going to mesh with your melon to go somewhere like this, if that's the case. A lot of rooster diners make so so coffee. These guys pour it smooth and sweet. No need to doll it up, just toss in an ice cube and blast that bean juice right into the arteries. Don't waste any more time, people. Look how many great reviews this place has. That's not magic, that's breakfast. You young men and women, climb into your ride and scoot on down to Cornfield. 20 years from now, you'll be talking about it. That's a promise. Who's giving you the straight truth? That;s right. "Sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast." - Lewis Carroll

We ordered some wings for an appetizer and both ordered medium rare ribeyes with no sides of any kind (carnivore style) for the main course. The wings were really good but turned out to be breaded so definitely NOT carnivore friendly. When the steaks make it to the table is where our dining experience took a turn for the worse. Their appearance had my mouth watering even if they were a little on the thin side - they looked great. Upon cutting the steaks, they were obviously overcooked to medium. This isn't a deal breaker for me and I can enjoy a medium steak as well even if it's not my preference so I was still excited for the first bite. I shouldn't have been. I think the grill marks on the steaks must come that way from the supplier because they had no grilled flavor, no char flavor and honestly... pretty much no flavor at all. For $30 per steak I guess I expected more. Overall I would say it could be a great place and atmosphere to go sit and have a drink and some apps but I would be hesitant to choose it for dinner again.
