Just hidden off the road back in Old Town Resort is this gem. Worth stopping. This is a restored Old Clitherall building. Part of the original town this building was the old town general store. Is one of the three buildings still standing. They offer espresso drinks, smoothies, sandwiches, pizza, ice cream, and other treats. There are two floors. You can order the food and head upstairs to the pool table, meeting space. Foosball table, or an assortment of table games. Staying at the resort it is within walking distance. Perfect for some chill time or when it's raining. We decided to try some lunch. I got the Happy Herbivore with a twist. The lady who worked the says she likes it with bacon, so that's what I did. She called it the Happy Hypocrite. It was a vegetation sandwich with tomato, onion, cucumber, sprouts, swiss cheese and mayo on sourdough. The bacon was the perfect touch. Hubby got the rhubarb which he enjoyed greatly. The meals include chips of your choice and a pickle spear. Very nice place. Great experience overall.

Ventured over while visiting Lake Clitherall and found this eatery for a mid-morning breakfast. The place itself was inviting and the recent renovations still held a lot of the history of the building and surround area. We ordered a few of their cinnamon rolls, which were soft, gooey, and overall amazing. I also had the Minnesota Cozy, which itself was a cinnamon roll pressed with an egg and sausage in between. Overall great balance of sweet and savory. We ate on a pleasant Sunday on their outside pergola, with views of the lake. Will be a staple stop for all future visits.

We drove 2 hours with this as one of our destinations along the way and sadly it was closed. Not sure if it is no longer open -

And we've stopped in almost every since! I first tried the cherry dip cone served with a side of crunch. Nostalgic bliss. My hubby had a shake and loved it. Creamy and delicious.. We stopped back in for Cyclones last night.. thick and loaded with ingredients. Today was my favorite.. amazing rootbeer float. The large was the perfect size to accomodate the incredible chili cheese coney and onion rings. The Nathan's hot dog was a fabulous choice, and the chili was lovely. Thick, sweet, and just spicy enough. Perfectly seasoned. We can't wait for vacation again next year!

But always so happy to see you weather its weekly or first time ever. But the ice cream deserts are delicious and the food is okay. (I'm more of an ice cream lover myself.) but they are quick and polite about giving you, your order. Sometimes it can be a bit of wait cause how busy and popular they are. But big on there local community. With thank you cards/ letters on the wall. News paper clippings and high school kids with their prom pictures.

There were a lot of people waiting for their great ice cream, so it took a good five minutes to get our food and the lady at the order booth said they only had ranch dressing for the side salad. "Ohhh-kaaay" I brought the dog and salad over to Thousand Lakes and besides no noticeable celery salt and pickle slices instead of spears, for small town Minnesota, it was a pretty solid Chicago dog. The dog was snappy and full of flavor and the bun was steamed and of course no ketchup. The side salad had fresh lettuce and was very nice. I would have liked a little more dressing options, but maybe the order taker didn't know them all? I think it was about 7 or 8 bucks total for a great dinner to have a couple of craft brews across the street with. Awesome little family ice cream/diner spot and the soft serve ice cream looked really good because they added like 30 different flavors somehow to the vanilla serve. Kind of like the old time slushees you would get at little league baseball games, but with soft serve. Cool loittle Minnesota small town restaurant.
