We always stop here when traveling through Conroe. The service is better than most, the food is excellent, and the place is very clean. If you are not sure what to order try the Queso Flameado. I eat this meal all over the state as it is my favorite Mexican dish. Margarita's has the best I have ever eaten!!! The dish literally comes out on fire. If you have never eaten this dish don't blow the flames out, let them go out by themselves or you will taste the alcohol used to produce the flames. Came here with my friends last night and I wasn't that impressed. The food was your average Tex-Mex which I knew that was to be expected. We ordered their margaritas and they were also not that great. You can taste the alcohol (not by much) and their flavors weren't that good. My fiancé and I went to the Conroe location for the first time this last weekend and weren't too impressed, but the yummy and cheap margaritas earned them 4 stars. On Fridays and saturdays, select margaritas are 3.00..and the strawberry one is so good! We split fajitas and they really weren't that great..they didn't even bring shredded cheese out to put on our fajitas. The chips and salsa also aren't so great. We're definitely going to go back soon for the margaritas and will probably try something else. But the cheap margaritas on Friday and saturdays are worth the trip! read more

First time back in about 10+ years, but it's still mediocre: when I order a grilled chicken breast ANYWHERE else, it's fileted thinER...or tenderized to spread it out and quickly grilled for the generous veggie and cheese topping. NOT HERE: it comes out thick with a topping of sparse ingredients. I took half home to turn into something good. Son liked his shrimp fajitas. Other son very pleased with his grilled thin skirt steak. Wife refused to accept two dishes based on fajita steak. Other family members are long time regulars and were happy with their basic plates. This is a restaurant that has been around since I was a little kid! I have always loved it and my husband goes there every week on his lunch break! It's not only great Mexican food but it is great service and if you are in a hurry it's the perfect place to go! They will take your order quickly and get your food out quick as well! I've been going to this restaurant since I was a very young kid, I'm 32 now (I'm still young but I still frequented this restaurant for 25ish years) There are several staff members that I know from back when I was very little and they are always very friendly and welcoming. I LOVE this restaurant. I've eaten here so many times and have never had a bad experience. The prices are very affordable and they have good quality, authentic Mexican food. The waitstaff is also very attentive, which is of importance to me, as I can't stand being ignored or having to search for a server. As for the food, I always get the queso with ground beef to go with the tortilla chips they bring you upon being seated. I do like their salsa, but I don't think it has enough kick to it. Read the prior Yelp reviews and tried this place last night. I was anticipating a good Mexican restaurant with okay service. Received neither! The salsa provided with the chips was probably the worst tasting I've ever experienced in 50 years! Pieces of tomato skin and onion peel were left in the salsa. It was the blandest taste one could ever imagine. Nothing helped. Ordered #38 (soft beef tacos w/rice/beans) and wife ordered Green Enchiladas. On both plates the refried must have been put on the plate with a very small teaspoon as it barely made 3 bites. The rice was ok. The beef tacos had very nice chunks of beef, but over half of it was burnt black. The corn tortillas were a mix of corn and flour and were gummy with very little corn taste. The Green Enchiladas had a red chili sauce inside with the Verde sauce on the outside. Never seen this combo before. Wife indicated that it was "ok" but when she left half of it on the plate, it was apparent that she didn't like it. (confirmed later that evening) The waiter was brand new. I asked what was on tap and he said "beer"! I went to the bar, found out what was on tap and then returned to table. He came back and asked again what I wanted and I said "a Nergo Modello". He still didn't understand what that was. Had to explain to him twice. Food was served in an appropriate amount of time and arrived on hot plates. After we ate, we waited for about 20 minutes for the check but when the waiter nor the check arrived, we went up to the cashier and told him what we had, where we sat. He found the waiter and then attempted to charge us for the drinks and 4 dinners. It took another 15 minutes to get things straightened out. The cashier provided a small discount for our wait or else this place would be rated "1 star" versus 2. An interesting sign on the register counter indicated they now charge for all go boxes and the prices depend on the size (Cost from .25 to $1 for a go box) So - bland salsa, small portions, so-so service but a discount, rates this place 2-stars. Back on the hunt for a good Mexican restaurant in the Montgomery/Conroe area! This one definitely is NOT on our list! read more

This is by far the best tex mex ever! The beef enchiladas are amazing. The beef is seasoned well and the gravy and cheese on top compliments the enchiladas so well. Also, the beef tacos are fantastic! I usually get crunchy tacos but the homemade tortillas made me fall in love with soft tacos. I'm very picky about my tortillas(I only like flour tortillas). I can eat just the tortillas by themselves from here. They are that good! I recently moved away from the area and have yet to find a Mexican food place by me that comes anywhere close to how fabulous and delicious this place is. We have been coming to Margarita's for the past 10 years. Best Margarita EVER - Jumbo Gold Margarita - more than one you have had too much to drink. Super employees; specifically "the tall guy" I think his name is Omberto (sp?) anyway he is the best! He remembers our drink order even if we haven't been in for a month or longer. We request him as our server every time if he is working. This is by far our favorite place to go for Mexican food and, of course, margaritas. They have a typical staff and ordering system that many have come to expect at Mexican restaurants; when you walk in, you're greeted by a smiling woman that asks how many and off to a table you go. Sometimes there is a small wait, but it's worth it. As soon as you're seated, another smiling face comes around carrying a monster tray of warm chip baskets and bowls of homemade salsa. Everyone gets there own little bowl, so you can double dip as much as little heart desires. Yum! The waiter, who speaks very broken English, comes by to take your drink and/or food order. You order you food by number and regardless of what you get it will be delicious! My personal favorite is on the app menu, I get the sampler plate (I think it's #11) because it's more than enough food for a meal and I always have a take home box. I also always get a large frozen margarita which is worth EVERY penny they charge. I'm not sure how many shots of tequila they put in those things but I am happy as a clam by the time I get half way through (no worries, I'm never the one driving afterwards). But even though they are strong, they still have a great balance of liquor and sweetness. They are never pushy to get you out the door. This is important since my boyfriend and I usually go here for date night or with our close friends and we like to just relax and visit and enjoy everyone's company. So we never feel rushed. The only downside to this place is the parking, it's very limited, but that doesn't matter because this place is delicious. Why are you still reading this? We got the mexican dinner plate which consisted of a "cheese puff" (fried tortilla shell with molten cheese poured over), a beef taco, and two beef enchiladas that turned out to be cheese enchiladas. Everything was swimming in bad quality cheese and so much oil and nothing fresh and completely over-salted. No service to speak of as our waiter didn't check on us until it was time for the check. My husband and I moved here from GA after he got out of the army, hoping to find a place like the one we had back there, and we did! Margaritas has a very homey comfortable atmosphere, as well as excellent food and drinks! The food here is decent, very friendly employees, clean place, and the food is reasonably priced, but this isn't authentic Mexican food or Tex-mex.
