We came here for dinner on a holiday weekend. Plenty of parking on the street or in the lot across the street. The restaurant is clean with lots of nice decor. There is a really nice bar area and a small stage. The staff were very nice but unfortunately didn't check on us that often. They didn't come back once to refill the water. The restaurant was mostly empty since it was a holiday so it wasn't because they were busy. Prices are different whether you pay with cash or credit. The food was just ok. I got the seafood paella. Really didn't have much flavor to it. Sadly, there were also pieces of broken clam mixed in the rice. I'm sure that can happen, but never had that experience with paella before. I get that it was Cinco de Mayo. I get that it was super busy and might have to wait a bit. I DO NOT GET WHY SEVERAL OTHER TABLES, WITH THE SAME SERVER, THAT CAME IN AFTER US AND ORDERED AFTER US, GOT THEIR FOOD WELL BEFORE US. One even paid and left before our food even came. We got no water refills, no asking if we would even like some more chips and salsa while we wait. The fact there were some food issues was understandable being how busy they were. (Steak was RARE, not medium well, and then didn't come back until we asked what happened to it, and a burnt chimichanga). But when the whole night becomes a joke that we were laughing at, one suggested we were being elaborately pranked, I felt compelled to leave a review, which I NEVER do. So first off, ordering a drink felt like applying for a mortgage, took 20 whole minutes. We asked to speak to the manager, and apparently he was on the "Do Not Disturb" setting. We think his name was Lauro, but we may never know. Mysterious. Listen, I love Mexican food. Upon entering, it was very sparse in customers; I only saw one group but it was only 12:30 on a Friday We were quickly seated and our drink order taken and water served. We quickly decided on our meals and were served our drinks. All good. The interior decor that I noticed was the glass settings in the tables and the cartoon characters on the wall. Liked the glasses, didn't follow the choice of cartoons. I ordered the Shrimp Quesadillas. It was served with a heap of sour cream and guacamole, more than I would need for the meal but better than not enough. My first taste was delicious although I noticed that it was a bit greasy and it had a strong butter flavor. That was unusual, the butter, but butter always tastes good. I felt my cholesterol rise as I sat there but it was tasty. My girlfriend had the ceviche camarones, which she always gets, I was informed. She enjoyed it as usual and I had a small taste as well. I wasn't familiar with it and it wasn't so tasty for me. The drinks were delicious and I had a nice buzz with one serving. Overall, I enjoyed the experience and the food. However, I was still uncertain that the butter was the usual seasoning for quesadillas and it was a tad too greasy for me. Place is pretty, white furniture everywhere, and the buss boy , server and hostess did a good job, despite being able to speak much English., however their manager Joel has no customer service skills and is rude. Came in today on a Sunday and only one other patron in the restaurant, extremely quiet and comfortable. Ordered fajitas combo (two pieces of steak, shrimp and chicken) , sopa azteca (very greasy) and birria tacos (3 came in the order) . The food was okay, nothing to be excited about or say I would return and need to eat that but also not bad. Also ordered 3 drinks; bomba , Piña colada, and raspberry margarita , all looked pretty but Piña colada was not great , watered down and the other two were good! Also ordered the churros, which were incredibly small, (we've frequent their other location that closed down very often and the portion sizes were half the sizes ). My biggest issue, was the sneak charge for chips and salsa, it's a nominal fee and wouldn't mind, but would've ordered something else on the menu that came with chips if we had known the chips had a charge, none of the servers said anything when we requested if we could have more, as the basket was tiny, and for 4 people, it was not sufficient. I asked the server about the charge, that someone should mention there is a charge for chips as the first basket is complimentary only and not refill on chips to finish the salsa or asking for more to have with the food, and or it should be a charge line on the menu to inform customers. Yanira brought the manager, Joel, and he was rude, and upset that I called him out for sneakily charging me . They charged me for something that's not on the menu, I felt that was sneaky and a form of stealing. This truly off put my party and will definitely never recommend or return to this establishment. He retorted with the same response there's a charge , and it's not on the menu and didn't address why it wasn't on the menu or was told about it prior to requesting a refill. This is not customary of a complimentary item and if I am a patron should be given the choice whether or not I want to make that purchase. I will never return and will be reporting them to the better business bureau, for charging for something that's not on the menu. I have this review draft sitting here blank with three stars, so, trying to member back I think we had fun, but we were sloshed and had some good fun company. I think it was just before or after covid made everything weird, I wasn't doing the mask thing but I never really did the mask thing, but I guess it had to be the june before covid became a thing. (That's how long ago I was there) I don't remember being blown away really, or blown at all in any direction... We sat outside, she had the birthday sombrero, had a nice tan going from the day, and while I imagine the margs walked the line of being great and having too much sour mix, as most margs do, I'm leaning towards "they got the job done" because I had a great time that day, that's a fact. It's taken ordering from them via Uber Eats multiple times before writing a review. We order from the often and love their food but they never get details of the special requests correct and the order is always wrong . We cannot have dairy and always ask for no dairy, no butter and black beans instead of refried beans. After several times of getting the order wrong I called and asked how I can ensure our order is right. I was told to place the order on Uber Eats then call the restaurant directly to give our dietary needs request. I've done that the past FOUR times and still they get it wrong. I've been to a few of the margaritas locations + I live in patchogue and used to frequent the Cuban often. I only got an appetizer here...queso fundido...it was pretty good! Very CHEESY...mostly cheese lol. They had live music which I LOVE! The band did all the cheesy hits, "my girl" "sweet Caroline", etc. Pretty loud but on par for these locations and a good time. This is a great place to go for date night. It's dimly lit, not loded with your typical cheesey Mexican restaurant decor.. now what we had. They brought out warm chips and salsa. They were good, but salsa was even better. It had just the right amount of spiciness with really good flavor.. next, my aunt and uncle said I should have the chicken soup. I'm glad I listened. Loaded with meat and vegetables, not to mention how good it was. Dinner, I had chicken fajitas. It's funny, I didn't realize how crappy the chicken fajitas were from all the other restaurants I've eaten it at until now. This was the best chicken fajitas I've ever had. They charged us $6 for a small basket of chips and salsa and my friend got a MANGO MARGUERITA which was $12 and was charged an addl $2 for the Mango. They would not give us separate bills. My girlfriend forgot cash and had to use her credit card, while myself and another friend had to place cash and we were short about $7. The manager would not waive the $6 on the chips as we were not told or it was not on the menu that if you get another small tray of them they charge you. And why did my friend get charged and addl $2 for a drink? We left upset nickel and diming to make the bill w/o a tip. Never go here again. read more

I have been to many margaritas on Long Island and they are all pretty spot on when it comes to a good ambiance. What I always find disappointing is the food. I would like it to be a little more authentic and it always lacks flavor. The drinks are always tasty and that's what keeps me going back. The service is a hit or miss. The lady whom brought us our drinks was friendly, greeted us with a smile and even had a laugh with our son. The waitress was as dry as the table paper. If you are looking for authentic Mexican food then.. Margaritas Cafe.. sadly..this.. place.. isn't.. it. I hate to give 2 star reviews but here's why: We headed out to dinner a bit late and on Labor Day night few eateries were opened or closed early. We saw they had outside seating and took advantage on a beautiful cool night. We were seated right away and we placed our drink orders: Margarita for me and Pina Colada sans alcohol for my friend. It's interesting that the cocktail menu has no prices? What was served to me in a big glass was a watered down sweetened un Margarita ($10.95 for a Margarita colada)I did mention classic Margarita on the rocks no salt and lime, you can see from my picture that this is not a Margarita. My friend liked her drink which I stated to her " that's a dessert drink" due to no alcohol, lol. The chips and salsa were okay but we munched on them due to waiting for our food @45 minutes. Why? The place was not busy at 9 pm? There weren't hordes of people exiting the restaurant and only 1 other table occupied outside... Our orders were simple: 1. Black Bean soup: my friend stated " it was like a can of Goya black beans were emptied into water" 2. Empanadas: filled with meat and potatoes and topped with chicken and shrimp and sauce which wasn't on top of her meal; just the sauce 3. Enchiladas Suizas: which were served with 3 mini enchiladas filled with some kind of shredded chicken, yellow rice ( inedible) and cold refried beans and a side of shredded lettuce(?) no sour cream in a green tomatillo sauce. Just plain blah. The waitress, who was nice, kept checking on us and the food wasn't even on the table so what are we checking on?? I had to ask multiple times for napkins and utensils. The small plates were dirty and the silverware could have been cleaner. This goes to all restaurants offering outdoor dining: invest in citronella to ward off bugs and flies. I just don't understand the logic; do we need Restaurants for Dummies books handed out? It gets worse: we asked for flan and got " we are out" so as a waitress when asked for dessert menus politely explain what you have to offer. Were you out because it took an hour to serve inedible food and thus " the hordes of invisible people ate all the flan?" Really? If you are a Mexican restaurant and you run out of flan then I guess you are McDonalds without fries. We settled for " pistachio truffle"( listed on menu just like that) which meant pistachio tartufo; served in a white I guess chocolate shell with whipped cream and a cherry. Blah again. I forgot to use the 10% off Yelp check in offer; the bill came to $66. I would rather spend $66 at a diner. I guess they could use the $7 I didn't save to buy more ingredients to make more flan. Grubhub order: October 21, 2021 Occasionally I feel like a big plate of nachos. I tried to get them yesterday but my go to place in Hewlett is temporarily closed until they apparently reopen with a former bagel store that was in the neighborhood as well to combine stores. I was scrolling on grub hub and ordered margarita's. This plate of nachos matches with the nachos from salsa mexicana. Both places are now favorites and I think I like margarita's more because there's more cheese on it. Now I'm disgustingly full because I'm in an eating less phase and I ate pretty much all the nachos. My only complaint is that the chips aren't salty enough for if I was eating them by myself with just some salsa. Besides that I'd gladly eat here again or order from here again. read more

We have been going there for many years; service was never great but food was good. Last weekend we went there again in a large group for dinner. They constantly had those ads showing on the TVs, promoting different events. Thursdays Ladies night caught our attention, it advertised $5.00 drinks for ladies. Yesterday I went there with my mom and my mother-in-law, specifically for the Ladies Night. We sat at on of the high taps by the bar; there were some other people at the bar, and the restaurant still had some tables, even though it was around 9:20 PM. When the waitress came up to us, I told her that we wanted to order from the Ladies Night menu. She just told that this deal is no longer. I told her we had been there just a few days earlier and it was advertised all over the TVs, so why is that? She then said it would only be martinis but couldn't explain what kind of martinis. She already had an attitude towards us. We placed an order for guacamole and one side of French fries, as we were there more to pick on something rather than have a late dinner. When she walked away, we took our time searching online for the Ladies Night deal, and could not find it anywhere. The TVs were this time conveniently displaying only one ad to make your reservation online, and nothing on the deals. I ended up going onto their website and found a whole tab on Ladies Night on Thursdays from where I was able to pull the Menu of available martinis. When she came back, I pointed at the one all three of us wanted to try, and she again got defensive saying that this is not good anymore. I told her that I had specifically just found it on their website and I don't get it. She then said "I don't know, honey", and went to get the bartender, who I believe is also the manager there. I personally find it very offensive and annoying if whoever calls me "honey", so if it was not for my mom and mother-in-law, I would have picked up and left by then. The guy came up to us with the same answers she had, also telling us that the only martinis included in the deal were vodka + vermouth, for which I said "no, thanks". When I told him they should maybe update their website, he didn't have much to say. We ended up 1 mojito and 2 margaritas, and another side of fries. For the whole time, no one came to gave us waters and we had to ask for it. I know that their kitchen was closing at 10, but we got there way before that and just for small things, yet we could feel a very unfriendly vibe for the entire time. At 9:45 they blasted all the lights and started sweeping next to our table clearly making us leave. I still can't believe how ridiculous that was. Came for my besties bday after work for happy hour. The place has a very cute atmosphere. Very nice Decor! However, Unfortunately i was not very impressed with the happy hour specials The happy hour drinks are premixed and the tapas we tried (meatballs and chicken chunks) were extremely salty. The meatballs tasted almost frozen with a cod center even though the plate was steaming hot. And i was expecting chunks of chicken however it was more tiny stripes. they look like potato hash. Lol. Sister restaurant to 1 of my fav Cuban restaurants "The Cuban" . Dinner on a Sunday eve with the fam and everything was decent. Nestled in a cute little town in LI where everyone seems to know each other. Stopped into a corner store and the cashier immediately recognized we were not from the area and wished us a happy dinner. The ambiance is fun and inviting. The staff is so friendly really took care of our table. My only issue was the flavor of food. I frequent so much at the Cuban I was expecting the same food. But everything was kind of bland. The best thing we ate was Grilled chicken with a Garlic butter sauce that we requested to have made for my 4 year old daughter ( shoutout to my server for making that happen) It was really really good. but everything else felt more Mexican than Cuban. Even the salad looked a lil droopy. I may have not had Cuban style ceviche before but I found the broth to be a lil more tomato-ish. I usually prefer that lemon-lime flavor but the plating in the tostado made it a lot easier to eat. Didn't really enjoy my steak but I did finish it at home after putting in the oven for about 20 minutes. Please don't let this stop you from trying both restaurants and different locations. Beware: I have been ordering from margarita cafe for years. Tonight I ordered my usual chimichangas I bit Into one and it had a horrible taste. I opened it up and to my disgust the meat was all moldy. I called the store to ask for a manager at first they were not taking me seriously until I told them this is a safety issue. The manager got on the phone and said he would offer me credit. I'm sorry but I do not want a free meal from somewhere that has moldy meat.
