Until today after 10 months passed after we pay in full for our kitchen there are missing parts and unresolved issues with our order.

After reviewing the scope of the project, it was estimated that it would take a week and a half to complete. Not only did it take over a month to eventually complete, the days that the team would work were unpredictable. On several occasions, as the team would leave for the day, they would tell us they will be back tomorrow, and then not show up. Or, they wouldn't be able to tell us when they would come next, and would surprise us a few days later. They ended up needing to complete this project after I had delivered my baby (original timeline would've been completed weeks prior to my due date). Additionally, we noticed there were a few design decisions that were made without consulting us, like the drywall of the shower/re-installation of the water gauge (it's now not flush with the wall and very loose) and the selection of tile at the base of the shower that doesn't match the floor. He had offered to come fix the water gauge, but after coming to look at the issue, he has not gotten back to us in 5 weeks. I had high hopes for this project, and while it still looks nice, the lack of communication made it really difficult to want to recommend Peter or use his team again for future projects.

We were warned repeatedly: "A kitchen remodel will be a nightmare--don't live there while it's…read morehappening!" That, along with a few other cautions, set our expectations before starting our project with Kitchen & Baths Unlimited. For my wife and me, however, the experience turned out very differently. We cannot say enough great things about Nancy (design), Owen (project management) and the entire team that meticulously executed the remodel. While I work from home and my wife commutes downtown, we decided to move forward with gutting and remodeling the vintage kitchen in our 100-year-old farmhouse in Evanston--and we couldn't be more pleased with the outcome. Yes, the demolition phase was a bit loud, as expected. But after that, the usual construction noise--hammering and drilling--was manageable. The team did an excellent job minimizing disruption: adjacent rooms were carefully sealed to contain dust, wood floors were protected with panels, and window treatments were wrapped in plastic. Design selections were also made easy thanks to Nancy, who guided us through choosing colors, cabinets, and countertops that matched our vision. The result is a beautiful transformation from a neglected, dingy farmhouse kitchen into a bright, modern farmhouse space. The Italian tile backsplash complements the quartz countertops with subtle veining. The lower cabinets are a soft gray, while the upper cabinets are white, creating a clean and balanced look. We also upgraded our appliances and fixtures, including LED ceiling lights, a Bosch microwave drawer, a professional KitchenAid range with a matching hood featuring an infrared sensor, and a modern stainless-steel farmhouse sink with a gentle bow. Despite an initial delay with the permit office due to a previously applied for permit that KBU helped us manage, the project stayed on schedule. We made a few minor upgrades along the way, but thanks to Owen and Nancy's guidance, we remained on time and within our overall budget. The KBU crew was professional, punctual, and highly skilled. Communication was seamless--especially since I was working from home--which helped address questions quickly and keep the project moving efficiently. In the end, we passed all inspections and received written approval from the village within a day. For us, this remodel was a great success. Thank you to Nancy, Owen, Patricia, Rade, and the entire team! You are the BEST!

We just finished a complete remodel with KBU--kitchen and three baths. We started with Kelly, and…read moreshe was outstanding. Ownership changed, and we were concerned that the new owners would not deliver the same kind of product as previous owners. Not a worry. The new owners have the same dedication to the client and are also a pleasure to work with. We love the finished product and we are very happy with owner, Owen and crew leader, Rade. We had a budget for this very large project, and they helped us stay within that amount. We never felt that we had to skimp on choices to stay in budget. One of the best things about Owen is he responds immediately. No matter what day or time we'd text, email or call, Owen responded within the hour and often faster. And his response was always positive and supportive. Any issues or problems? He took care of them without any hesitation. He wanted us to be satisfied and happy with the results. And we are. One of the other tradespeople broke an item and is replacing it, but it won't arrive for several months after our remodel is complete. No problem, Owen will have Rade install that item for us when it arrives. To us, that says a lot about Owen and his business philosophy. We consider ourselves so fortunate to have Rade and Jesus as our crew. Rade does things the right way. He never skimped or took shortcuts. Even if it was more difficult or took more time, Rade did it the right way. Rade also wanted us to be happy with the results. He is thorough, professional, skilled and experienced. Many times there were choices and decisions, and we were not sure which to do. We had so much confidence in Rade's experience and skill that we deferred to his suggestions. We were never disappointed. Remodeling can be a stressful mess, but the people at KBU make it as stress free as possible. They are a pleasure to work with and to know.

The whole project took about 5 weeks, starting with the demo. It took me over a year to actually sign the contract due to my crazy schedule, but they were patient with me. I wanted to knock down a wall for an open floor plan with a peninsula counter, and Marc and Joe helped me figure out a solution for moving the refrigerator that I couldn't imagine on my own. I loved being able to see their 3D renderings of the proposed designs, especially since I kept modifying my plan. Petar, the contractor was excellent, friendly, and able to accommodate my specific requests to make sure I was satisfied. He exchanged a specific dimmer switch that accommodated what I wanted. Randomly, my toilet handle broke while he was here, and even though it was probably bound to happen to anyone, he went out and bought a new handle and fixed that too (above and beyond)! I wanted to resell my old cabinet set since it was still in very good condition, and they (kudos to Jose, the cabinet guy) removed them from my kitchen and put them aside without damaging anything. They will tell you if you are making a mistake in any of your decisions. For instance I was planning on having a shorter counter overhang than what they proposed. They were very insistent that it should be at least 18" and I figured that 12" would be plenty. Well, I'm happy with what I finally decided, but a couple extra inches might have been better, to Marc's credit, ...so, make sure it's at least 14" in the center! :-D I would recommend Masters Kitchen and Bath to anyone. Just something to keep in mind: They are a one-stop shop and have a decent selection of cabinets, counters, tiles, and hardware. You can select items from an outside source, if there is something else you prefer, but you should at least expect to get the cabinets and counters from them to make this all worthwhile.

There was not a detail overlooked because going above and beyond is what Masters is all about. When we signed on to have our kitchen remodeled, we told Masters that if we were happy with the progress, we would sign up to have our three (3) bathrooms remodeled as well. We had no idea who would be working on our kitchen, and hoped it would be someone we would like who would provide us with a job well done. Alin was assigned to our project - how lucky we were!!! Immediately, we could see that he had an awesome work ethic. Singlehandedly, Alin provided detailed craftsmanship, daily reliability, patience and dedication to our project. He quietly worked from the moment he arrived on time every day until the time he departed in the evening without stopping to chat or take breaks. When circumstances arose where there were options of what we might prefer, Alin did take a moment to ask what we would like him to do. Despite the mess and dust that remodeling brings, Alin made sure to keep our home as clean as possible. Alin was the hardest worker who is so talented, trustworthy, meticulous, diligent, and respectful. His abilities and character are exceptional and impressive. Therefore, it wasn't very long before we knew that we wanted Masters to add to our project and sign us up with Alin to remodel our three (3) baths, too! We couldn't pass up this opportunity to continue with this wonderful transformation! It was our pleasure to have Alin in our home while remodeling all four (4) of our rooms. He has made a significant positive difference in our home and in our lives. The entire staff at Masters is knowledgeable, professional and totally addressed any and all of our requests throughout the remodel. Masters' service after the sale is very customer-oriented, too! Everyone who has seen our remodeled kitchen and three (3) baths had highly complimentary comments. What we have heard most often is, "your rooms look like they are in a model home that would be featured in a magazine!" We are very pleased that we chose Masters Kitchen and Bath, and would not hesitate to highly recommend them to anyone interested in fine quality kitchen and bath remodeling. Alin and Masters far exceeded our expectations!
