I wish I could stay all day at Mardi Gras Tuesday! My girlfriends and I had reservations for 11 AM Sunday brunch and arrived just before the restaurant opened. From the moment we walked in, the customer service was exceptional. The owner, Keith, was hands-on, welcoming guests, serving food, and making sure everyone was taken care of. The entire team worked seamlessly together, and we never had to ask for refills or chase anyone down for service. Shout out to Big Micheal Micheal and the girls for the stellar service. The $10 bottomless mimosas were such a pleasant surprise! The glasses were a good size, and the staff kept them flowing without us having to ask. The food was delicious! We ordered the fried oysters, catfish nuggets, and crab cakes to start. Everything was fresh, hot, and flavorful. The fried oysters were juicy, cheesy, and absolutely delicious. I ordered the crawfish Eggs Benedict, and when my poached egg wasn't prepared correctly, Keith personally took the plate back and made it himself. That level of attentiveness and commitment to getting things right speaks volumes about an owner. The restaurant was clean, beautiful, and inviting, and the live music added a lovely touch to the atmosphere. My friends enjoyed their entrées as well, although they had a couple of personal preferences regarding the sauce and grits. Overall, this was easily one of my favorite restaurant experiences of the year. The food, service, cleanliness, and hospitality were outstanding. My only complaint is that Mardi Gras Tuesday is so far away from me! Five stars on Yelp, but a 10/10 from me. My partner pitched this restaurant to me, and I happily obliged. He made reservations for 6:30 on a Thursday, and we arrived around 6:10pm. There was plenty of parking spots in the back with free parking for 2 hours. There was also metered parking in the front. When we walked in, we noted that we had a reservation but it didn't really seem to matter. There were several open tables, which got more crowded toward the night. Since Happy Hour is 3-6pm, and we arrived at 6:10pm, we asked if there were any specials. Our server, Avery, told us on Thursdays the chargrilled oysters, and some drinks were still at a discounted price after 6pm. We ended up ordering a Swamp Tea, Sparkling Water, 6 Chargrilled Oysters, 6 raw oysters, A Taste of New Orleans (red rice and beans, gumbo, and crawfish étouffée), shrimp & grits, and a side order of cornbread muffins. The total ran about $116, but there is a 4% discount if you pay with cash! Our server was fantastic. I was very impressed that he did not write down a single thing that we ordered but our order came out 100% correct. He was also very knowledgeable in terms of recommendations, and seemed to know the menu very well. He checked in on us at appropriate times, and was attentive. When our drinks came, Avery mentioned to us that it was their first day with their liquor license, and they were able to finally sell hard liquor. It was exciting, but he said the downside was that they were still perfecting their drinks. We tried the Swamp Tea and it was strong (which is a compliment). I heard the table next to us giving constructive criticism about their drinks, and was very impressed with how the staff was open and receptive to their feedback. For my drink, I ordered a sparkling water. I was expecting a San Pellegrino, but it tasted like it was sparkling tap water from a soda gun. In terms of the quality of the food, I would personally pass on the oysters (both raw and chargrilled). There was a slight fishy taste that my partner and I both noticed, but it wasn't bad enough to stop us from eating it all. I just wouldn't come here specifically for the oysters. I did enjoy the A Taste of New Orleans because I love trying samples of everything. My favorite was the crawfish étouffée. There was a lot of crawfish tails in there, which I really liked. My partner also said his Shrimp & Grits were good. The atmosphere was very casual and relaxed. I would say very authentic to New Orleans. Having had phenomenal food in New Orleans, I wouldn't necessarily say that this restaurant tastes like the food I had there, but it's definitely worth a shot if you want to try creole cuisine and don't want to make the four hour flight. read more

Lots of questions to wonder about this place... When we walked in, waited for about 2 minutes before a waiter walked out and told us to take a seat anywhere. An hour later, our food is ready and comes out. Why? Well, the lady sitting next to use ordered a decent amount of food for a party of four, or maybe two, it could've just been just as much as we ordered. Another table of two, which came after us, ordered after us, got their food before us. Who knows.... What we ordered was just slow to make? Anyway, if the food is good, than it might be worth it.. was it though? The happy hour cup of gumbo ($6) and the side of collards ($8) were super salty, what the heck?! Who eats this?! The collards tasted like they made too much some other day, reheated it a few times, and it concentrated the salt into the veg. The gumbo was just too salty. The happy hour chicken wing plate was $8 and came with four wings and some fries. One wing was dry, the other three were ok. The flavor is light. It was marinated for 24 hours? Really? The happy hour jambalaya cup was also $6. It was ok, not great but not bad, just ok. The charbroiled oysters were good, but they were really tiny oysters that you could barely taste due to the stuff on it, is that why it is good? Barely able to taste or see the oysters. $2each. The fisherman's combo, $24, uses small shrimps that are not worth eating. Give me four decent sized good ones instead. The oysters were cooked to death, and were not good to begin with too. The catfish bites were right, and spot on. The hush puppies were good too! Overall, just get catfish bites if that's all you want, I can't see anything else on this dish being worth ordering. Anyway, I am not planning to ever come back here. I recommend you save your time and money, especially time, and go elsewhere. This is not what it seemed like it was going to be. This was a waste. From the outside Mardi Gras Tuesday seems as if it's just any other themed family restaurant. It's when I have these thoughts and am then proven completely wrong that makes me happy. Mardi Gras Tuesday is one of the best restaurants I've visited in a while. Going here for a late lunch we were greeted by an incredible waitress who was extremely knowledgeable and kind. Definitely the best wait staff I've ever encountered. For lunch I tried the half chicken Po' Boy with a side of Mac and cheese. Words don't adequately express how amazing these dishes tasted. The Mac and cheese was perfection. The chicken Po boy was a flavor explosion. Perfectly marinated and cooked chicken alongside delicious fresh veggies on a roll that was just delicious. Thinking back on the sandwich now I wish I could go back there this instant and have it again. I've been curious about this place for a long time and now am kicking myself for waiting this long. My party up for was greeted at the door by a young man who introduced himself as Lonnie. Just a great personality and a great soul. He really set the tone for what turned out to be a fantastic brunch experience. I love the fact that they have a full bar and the food was amazing. The score is more favorable than it seems. We did like the place. I kept telling my wife that MGT should see us parked near one of their monitors for their day-long happy hour fare on another Tuesday. That's what I enjoyed (as the operative word) upon our first visit, several of their happy hour bites: Jazzy Wingetts, Jambalya spring rolls, the corn maque choux, and the catfish bites with remoulade sauce. I came for the spring rolls, and they delighted our dinner-ready appetites. It was indeed the most memorable components of a Jambalaya plate, inserted in a wrapper made crispy - which I think made all the difference. Each bite was a morsel of crunchy, greasy goodness. The cabbage chaser and dipping sauces on the plate made the rolls just right. Everything else tasted good for the happy hour, Dodgers broadcast vibes - shout out to the Stubborn root beer from the fountain! But it was mostly just good value for two people. I think I could learn to like the Voodoo wings but they ate a little salty. We appreciated that they were served with fries that we didn't pay extra for. We were a group of 9 and they were able to address all our requests in no time at all. There's no private parking but there's enough street parking if you come early enough. The food was okay. The fried chicken was not as we have expected, though. It could be better. The baked oysters in half shells were bad and did not taste fresh at all. Our nephew treated hubby and me to lunch. I love a good creole/cajun cafe. The maitre' d, Kim gave us a very warm welcome as if she was expecting us. We were seated immediately. We arrived just as brunch ended, but she offered to let us order from the brunch menu. We declined in favor of the regular menu. Our server, Malcolm, also gave us a warm greeting and was patient, taking time to explain menu options. The decor has a NOLA vibe, playing soulful music in the background. I missed seeing the celebrity pics in the hallway to the restrooms but our neph enjoyed seeing them. We started with appetizers -- charbroiled oysters with breadcrumbs and parmesan, and chicken wings. The oysters were tasty and the wings had good a good spicy flavor, similar to jerk, but they were a bit dry. For mains, the fellas had fried catfish which was very good -- light crispy and well-seasoned. One had an off-menu fillet with coleslaw and fries. The other, had a catfish basket (strips), fries and hush puppies. The fries were seasoned but not too salty. and The hush puppies were crisp outside but moist inside. They were pleased with the coleslaw and an extra order of macaroni and cheese which was noted as "authentic" baked mac and cheese. I ordered gumbo for the main. There was plenty of chicken, shrimp and sausage, as well as a decent portion of snow crab. My preference is for king crab because it's hardier and easier to shell, but I was told by a butcher elsewhere that it's difficult to obtain because of the conflict with Russia ‍ Regardless, the snow crab was sweet and easy enough to shell. Unfortunately, the broth was overly salty which made it tough to distinguish the various flavors that make gumbo standout -- celery, okra, filet etc. The gumbo came with a side of brown rice and garlic bread -- both were fine. At one point, Leslie, the "wheel" (my description ) came by to make sure we had everything we needed. A gentleman, possibly the owner, came by to apologize because they were out of cranberry juice but it wasn't a problem for me. The restaurant was about 3/4 full. Patrons were a mix of couples and families. Btw, the restrooms were clean - a feat that's hit it miss on restaurant row. The fried chicken seemed popular and flew out of the chicken often. Will try it on my next visit. If you're looking for a fast food, be prepared to wait. It took some time for our food to arrive but overall, it was worth the wait. Came here for an early dinner on Saturday and what a treat! Never been before but will definitely be back. The staff is so welcoming, friendly and helpful. Greeted and seated with menus and waters right away. The vibe here so cool and reminded me of not only New Orleans but the restaurants I grew up around back in Chicago. I love that they have vegan options so I ordered the Red Beans and Rice with Plant Based Sausage as well as a Hurricane. My entree was so good and thinking about it makes me want to head there right now for another plate. Drink was just okay. I think I'm not used to the type of rum they use so for my second drink I ordered a Chardonnay which hit the spot. While there and before our food or drinks came the manager noticed our table was wobbly and was quick to adjust it. A complete waste of money. I haven't made a review in a while but I felt compelled to say something about the food & service. Me and my husband ordered food from uber eats. The fries were OLD & HARD! They were completely inedible. The hush puppies as well as the peach cobbler spring rolls lacked flavor. I've never had hush puppies with barely a flavor to them. The small pieces of shrimp in the fisherman's basket had a weird taste to them. One of the first problems we encountered was trying to figuring out the menu items before we even ordered. This goes for both the menu on the restaurant's official website as well as uber eats menu. There's a complete lack of information on items in regard to what the dish includes. I ordered the shrimp plate which didn't seem different from the shrimp basket but there was no information that gave me any indication on the difference between the two so I'm pretty sure I got the same thing but just paid extra for fries since the plate didn't include any sides. I had to call to find out what type of fish the "fisherman's all 3 combo basket" since it just says "A trio of fisherman's favorites in one basket." with zero indication of the fact that it's catfish, snapper and shrimp. While on the phone with the employee (who sounded bothered to answer two SIMPLE questions), I asked if the shrimp plate came with cocktail sauce and I was told that it didn't but that they'd make sure it was added to the order but I told them that I was ordering from uber eats so there would be no way for them to know which order was mine and I gave my name. But my husband ended up ordering from his account since he had a coupon but when I called back to make sure they knew so I'd get the sauce, the phone was all of a sudden going straight to the voicemail as if they put it on "do not disturb". The only negative I could say is they do have live music at least on Sundays that was a little loud for my taste and other's around us, but it did give it a nice atmosphere but if they could just dial that down slightly, but other than that, kudos, you guys did it again. read more

The food was good and we went right before closing so I know it would've been a 10 times better if we had would have gone earlier.

This place was delicious! It was on my list and then a friend suggested it so I took that as a sign to go! I went on a Saturday for brunch and it wasn't super packed! We were seated immediately, and the staff was kind. The ambience is casual, but with the spirit of New Orleans with colorful murals on the walls and decor all around. They also have $10 bottomless mimosas on the weekends! I ordered the short ribs n grits and it was so delicious and flavorful! Definitely would get again. My boyfriend got the chicken and biscuits and he said he didn't like it as much as my short ribs and grits, but it wasn't bad. My other friend got gumbo and he said it was pretty good, but also not as good as the short rib. So that seems to be the winner! We had champagne and added strawberry syrup and also for desserts. We had peach cobbler, eggrolls, and they were good! Definitely pretty sweet but good! I recommend this place and definitely plan to go back read more
