The score is more favorable than it seems. We did like the place. I kept telling my wife that MGT should see us parked near one of their monitors for their day-long happy hour fare on another Tuesday. That's what I enjoyed (as the operative word) upon our first visit, several of their happy hour bites: Jazzy Wingetts, Jambalya spring rolls, the corn maque choux, and the catfish bites with remoulade sauce. I came for the spring rolls, and they delighted our dinner-ready appetites. It was indeed the most memorable components of a Jambalaya plate, inserted in a wrapper made crispy - which I think made all the difference. Each bite was a morsel of crunchy, greasy goodness. The cabbage chaser and dipping sauces on the plate made the rolls just right. Everything else tasted good for the happy hour, Dodgers broadcast vibes - shout out to the Stubborn root beer from the fountain! But it was mostly just good value for two people. I think I could learn to like the Voodoo wings but they ate a little salty. We appreciated that they were served with fries that we didn't pay extra for. We don't really do sports bars, but that does not mean we can't change our approach to our Clippers fandom. And MGT, being quite local, could be the worthy home that feeds us for not that much. It's a little bit of a hidden gem being neighbor places like FitBox, Charcuterie LA, across from 2nd Street secondhand store, Juice Crafters, Happy Days Cafe and more. Parking is mostly street, metered, with a private small lot in back. The have great service, a full wine, beer and soju craft spirits bar (made from distilled fermented spirits). Happy hour is amazing and features both beverages and food. The Plant-Based Creole Sliders being a 10/10. The food is bussin!!! Even for delivery or carry out. Their vegetarian/vegan menu is the chef's kiss. I have had some instances where they were out of things in the pass, like the Hearts of Palm Poboy :_( twice, but they do their best. Love the decor in here. Bar area is iconic. Feel big and intimate all at once. Good music, sometimes live and entertainment on their flat screens. Lots of questions to wonder about this place... When we walked in, waited for about 2 minutes before a waiter walked out and told us to take a seat anywhere. We grabbed menus as we picked our seats, cause it seemed like he was the only one there. Anyway, he brought us some water, then proceeded to get the order for a lady at a nearby table. After a couple minutes, he came and took our order. We ordered the fisherman's combo, which included fried shrimp, catfish, oysters, and hush puppies. It also came with fries and two dipping sauces. We also ordered the happy hour chicken wings, gumbo, and jambalaya. We also added a side of collard greens, and some charbroiled oysters. So after we ordered, we waited. And waited. And waited. An hour later, our food is ready and comes out. Why? Well, the lady sitting next to use ordered a decent amount of food for a party of four, or maybe two, it could've just been just as much as we ordered. Another table of two, which came after us, ordered after us, got their food before us. Who knows.... What we ordered was just slow to make? Anyway, if the food is good, than it might be worth it.. was it though? The happy hour cup of gumbo ($6) and the side of collards ($8) were super salty, what the heck?! Who eats this?! The collards tasted like they made too much some other day, reheated it a few times, and it concentrated the salt into the veg. The gumbo was just too salty. The happy hour chicken wing plate was $8 and came with four wings and some fries. One wing was dry, the other three were ok. The flavor is light. It was marinated for 24 hours? Really? The happy hour jambalaya cup was also $6. It was ok, not great but not bad, just ok. The charbroiled oysters were good, but they were really tiny oysters that you could barely taste due to the stuff on it, is that why it is good? Barely able to taste or see the oysters. $2each. The fisherman's combo, $24, uses small shrimps that are not worth eating. Give me four decent sized good ones instead. The oysters were cooked to death, and were not good to begin with too. The catfish bites were right, and spot on. The hush puppies were good too! Overall, just get catfish bites if that's all you want, I can't see anything else on this dish being worth ordering. Anyway, I am not planning to ever come back here. I recommend you save your time and money, especially time, and go elsewhere. This is not what it seemed like it was going to be. This was a waste. If you come, you better come half full, cause the wait takes long, and your food won't be satisfying. Inside is clean with plenty of seating, does this place get filled? From the outside Mardi Gras Tuesday seems as if it's just any other themed family restaurant. It's when I have these thoughts and am then proven completely wrong that makes me happy. Mardi Gras Tuesday is one of the best restaurants I've visited in a while. Going here for a late lunch we were greeted by an incredible waitress who was extremely knowledgeable and kind. Definitely the best wait staff I've ever encountered. For lunch I tried the half chicken Po' Boy with a side of Mac and cheese. Words don't adequately express how amazing these dishes tasted. The Mac and cheese was perfection. The chicken Po boy was a flavor explosion. Perfectly marinated and cooked chicken alongside delicious fresh veggies on a roll that was just delicious. While we waited for the rest of our party to arrive, my husband and I sipped on our first glass of bottomless mimosas. We had the option to sit inside or outside in the back patio. Our nephew treated hubby and me to lunch. I love a good creole/cajun cafe. The maitre' d, Kim gave us a very warm welcome as if she was expecting us. We were seated immediately. We arrived just as brunch ended, but she offered to let us order from the brunch menu. We declined in favor of the regular menu. Our server, Malcolm, also gave us a warm greeting and was patient, taking time to explain menu options. The decor has a NOLA vibe, playing soulful music in the background. I missed seeing the celebrity pics in the hallway to the restrooms but our neph enjoyed seeing them. We started with appetizers -- charbroiled oysters with breadcrumbs and parmesan, and chicken wings. The oysters were tasty and the wings had good a good spicy flavor, similar to jerk, but they were a bit dry. For mains, the fellas had fried catfish which was very good -- light crispy and well-seasoned. One had an off-menu fillet with coleslaw and fries. The other, had a catfish basket (strips), fries and hush puppies. The fries were seasoned but not too salty. and The hush puppies were crisp outside but moist inside. They were pleased with the coleslaw and an extra order of macaroni and cheese which was noted as "authentic" baked mac and cheese. I ordered gumbo for the main. There was plenty of chicken, shrimp and sausage, as well as a decent portion of snow crab. My preference is for king crab because it's hardier and easier to shell, but I was told by a butcher elsewhere that it's difficult to obtain because of the conflict with Russia ‍ Regardless, the snow crab was sweet and easy enough to shell. Unfortunately, the broth was overly salty which made it tough to distinguish the various flavors that make gumbo standout -- celery, okra, filet etc. The gumbo came with a side of brown rice and garlic bread -- both were fine. At one point, Leslie, the "wheel" (my description ) came by to make sure we had everything we needed. A gentleman, possibly the owner, came by to apologize because they were out of cranberry juice but it wasn't a problem for me. The restaurant was about 3/4 full. Patrons were a mix of couples and families. Btw, the restrooms were clean - a feat that's hit it miss on restaurant row. The fried chicken seemed popular and flew out of the chicken often. Will try it on my next visit. If you're looking for a fast food, be prepared to wait. It took some time for our food to arrive but overall, it was worth the wait. As someone who's actually from New Orleans, Louisiana, I don't throw around the word authentic lightly but Mardi Gras Tuesday absolutely nailed it. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt warm and inviting, and the wall art immediately gave me those real NOLA vibes. It honestly made me a little nostalgic for home. Greeted and seated with menus and waters right away. The vibe here so cool and reminded me of not only New Orleans but the restaurants I grew up around back in Chicago. I love that they have vegan options so I ordered the Red Beans and Rice with Plant Based Sausage as well as a Hurricane. My entree was so good and thinking about it makes me want to head there right now for another plate. Drink was just okay. I think I'm not used to the type of rum they use so for my second drink I ordered a Chardonnay which hit the spot. While there and before our food or drinks came the manager noticed our table was wobbly and was quick to adjust it. The Jambalaya was decent, though I've had more memorable versions elsewhere. The Gumbo was my least favorite: a bit too watery for my taste, heavy on rice and chicken, and lacking the seafood and okra I usually expect. That said, the portion sizes were small, so it's hard to give a full verdict. The Catfish Bites with Remoulade Sauce were fantastic. The Bread Pudding with Whiskey Lemon Sauce was a standout very happy with this. I l usually have a cup of coffee after meal and wanted Cafe Du Monde or some other Chicory and coffee brand which was not available. I was told that it was not an item that was ordered a lot so not available. I wish they had it as a pour over for single orders like other places. It was late in the evening so they didn't have a bartender to make drinks, but had a good beer selection, including Abita, a local New Orleans fave. We ordered some appetizers, each of us had a main course and several rounds of beer. Overall, the food was excellent, although portion sizes seemed to vary wildly from dish to dish. The "A taste Of New Orleans" was appropriately sized for the price, with a cup of gumbo, cup of jambalaya & a cup of e'touffee.....but the Drunken Shrimp entree seemed small for the price, and the oysters in the oyster appetizer were pretty small. Having said that, the Fried Shrimp Po'Boy was huge, and fantastic with their house sauce drizzled all over. I would highly recomend that Shrimp Po'Boy, as well as the crabcake appetizer, which was phenomenal. Probably the freshest tasting crab cake I've had in a long time, and the manager confirmed that they do make them in-house. The service was excellent, the manager was fantastic, and overall it was a great dining experience. It's a little pricey, sure, but for what you're getting, the freshness of ingredients, and the overall fantastic flavors of all the food, it's well worth it!! Brunch is from 11am-2pm on Saturday and Sundays with live jazz music played from 1pm-3pm. I ordered the Bayou Breakfast with chicken tenders, eggs, creole potatoes, and French baguette. My friend ordered the Shrimp Benedict. The best part? We ordered their $10 Bottomless Mimosas poured until 2pm. Was excited to try New Orleans food in Los Angeles having been to Jazz Fest there several times -- but Mardi Gras Tuesday missed the mark big time on a recent Wednesday. It was Juneteenth so they were busier than usual (perhaps which is why they didn't answer the phone when I tried to make a reservation or even see if they were open as I got a busy signal for about 20 min. straight). Saw on Yelp that they have a back patio but when we got there they told us it's only open on weekends. (After consulting a manager, they did agree to serve us there). Since we arrived at 5pm, it was still Happy Hour so we ordered some char-grilled oysters and draft beer to start (menu listed 6 beers on tap but they had only two of them available -- a light lager and an IPA). Beer came out fast but the oysters took at least 30 min. (as the kitchen was "backed up). To my surprise, three of the six oysters had just breading and cheese -- NO OYSTER! (Maybe they were Vegetarian Oysters?) When pointed out to the server, she took them right back (as if this happens alot) and replaced them. I wasn't expecting them to be as good as New Orleans -- but they were so small, all you tasted was breading and cheese. Go to Dragos in New Orleans - now THAT'S a Char-Grilled Oyster!) On to the main courses... The chicken sliders were good -- 3 per order and tasty. Asked for the mustard sauce on the side but it didn't come at all. (Got it when I asked a second time). Then, after at least ANOTHER 30 min, my oyster and shrimp po-boy with fries (ordered off the regular menu) was delivered to the table COLD! Must have been sitting for at least 10-15min. That's not the kitchen's fault. Ordered it with the sauce on the side but it was slathered all over the roll which didn't really matter as who wants to eat cold deep-fried food? I know they were busier than usual but what can you say when literally everything we ordered came out late, cold, or just wrong? Parking was hard to find -- they have a small lot in back that was filled when we got there. Patio only accessible from inside the restaurant (as we didn't want to climb over the barbed wire to get in from the parking lot). By the way, we still left an 18% tip. read more

I 10000% recommend the business and I'm going back every single chance I get. My friends and I planned to try this establishment out because who doesn't like to try new places and baby it's creole food ?? The food was AMAZING. There's live music, jazz to be exact ! & the bottomless mimosas were flowing. We tried everything from, fried catfish, crab cakes, jambalaya, red beans and rice, shrimp étouffée, Mac and cheese , loaded hash, southern potato's , grilled oysters , wings, shrimp and grits and gumbo.
