Banana pudding

Doordash order placed 1 day before my September 10th birthday . I was excited to see German chocolate cake on their menu. Its my favorite cake which I typically enjoy on my birthday. The catfish was crispy and flaky. The shrimp were the best item nice size to dip in the cocktail sauce. My disappointment came when I pulled out the banana pudding. I thought to myself this doesn't look like German chocolate cake. TheyDoordash order placed 1 day before my September 10th birthday . I was excited to see German chocolate cake on their menu. My disappointment came when I pulled out the banana pudding. I thought to myself this doesn't look like German chocolate cake. They didn't call me or have the dasher to call to inform me the cake wasn't available. I wonder where did this pudding come from. Its not on their menu. They have several cake options and praline.

I was only planning on picking up but the vibe felt comfortable and released a lil stressed when i walked in. Out here by my daughter's house in Mesquite looking for a daiquiri and found a gem. Great for dates, intimate spot to watch football games, playing r&b music, GREAT STAFF! Great food!! Baby they got sweets too! These crab cakes and jambalaya so good. Oh and they got hookahs! Let me find me a lil boo . GREAT SPOT TO CHECK OUT!

Catfish Nuggets, Jambalaya, Corn

FINALLY SOMEONE WHO KNOWS HOW TO FRY CATFISH!! I moved to Mesquite recently and I've been on the hunt for decent fried catfish in the area. And by decent, I mean the way my Uncle fries it... crispy, not greasy, not fishy, and with CORN MEAL. Some of yall actually have the audacity to come to Texas and fry fish in flour.. SMDH. I was greeted by ALL of the staff and felt very welcomed and appreciated. All of my questions were answered and everyone was friendly. You can tell they've spent time and effort not only in perfecting their menu, but also in creating a beautiful and comfortable dining area. It was very clean and there was no "fried food" aroma in the air. Classy! You don't realize how impressive this is until you go to similar restaurants and leave smelling like fried chicken. Now, the food: Boudin Balls - Crispy on the outside. Great flavor. Catfish Nugget Basket w/ Jambalaya: Fish was fried to perfection, no fishy taste, and not greasy. Seasoned. Jambalaya was different from what I'm used to, but it was still good. Nice flavor with decent amount of shrimp and sausage tossed in. The basket also came with a corn cob which was surprisingly seasoned very well with some kind of Cajun magic. I don't even like corn, but I ate it. Hot Honey Lemon Pepper Wings- So I'm not a fan of wet wings or buffalo sauce but I tried them anyway bc they were recommended. They were delicious and seasoned well. The sauce was a perfect spicy/sweet balance and they were cooked just right. I'll be trying the dry lemon pepper wings on my next visit. Fried Okra- Best fried okra I've had in a very long time. Ask them to fry it hard. Delicious! Shrimp- Basic fried shrimp. But it was fresh and good sized pieces. Fries- Basic crinkled fries, but not greasy and cooked perfectly. I would've loved to have a dash of cajun magic on em. Maybe I need to request it next time. And they had HUSHPUPPIES!!! Yes Lawd! I'm so tired of these fish places putting "light bread" in my basket!! Thanks for being true to the game! No dessert or Daiquiri this visit but they looked delicious! They have a variety of cakes: Lemon, German Choc, Red Velvet, etc. They also offer peach cobbler. I saw numerous daiquiri flavors as well. I'll try those when I go back for the lemon pepper wings. The nice lady who prepared my order took the time to show me each of my food items before she bagged it up. I love that kind of service! She was very sweet and chatted with me. Mardi Gras Cajun Cuisine-Mesquite has earned my business. I will definitely be returning and bringing my family and friends to enjoy this local gem. Thank you! Great job! Keep it up!

Catfish with Fries

Where do I start? Music so loud you can't hear your person taking orders. menu says whole wings looks like party wings to me all day. I say 1 filet extra crispy it's so soggy I can ring the grease from it. For $40 and poor ass customer service is saddening. If you want to have a party I guess this your place but food a hard pass!!!

This place was a 30 minute drive from us but WELL worth it. They don't have many tables on the inside so you will have to wait for one to open up if you want to eat there. They have several different daiquiri flavors you can choose from as well as their house combinations. I got the very sexy and it was soooo good and not expensive. Now the food was the best part. We had: Catfish nuggets and fries - fried to perfection! They were seasoned just right and taste so good and fries were nice and crispy Boudin balls- AMAZING! They had so much flavor, even if you have never tried boudin balls are have tried them but didn't like it try it here these are the best I have ever had Fried Cajun corn- it's seasoned corn has a great taste would have loved it even more if it was a little spicy but still great Crab cakes - decent they were not the best thing we had but would still order again The carb box let me a little upset. But that's more so my fault for getting crab legs out of season. The flavor was great and it came with sausage, potatoes and corn but the crab legs were super small and didn't have much meat in them at all. I would just say make sure you get them in season

Seafood with a cluster of crab legs.

I loved the ambience. The food was amazing. The dessert was amazing. We look forward to coming back at night time to enjoy a little date night get away.

Hey I visit here for the first time I order gumbo and it was spicy brown water and after I returned that I ordered hot wings yes hot wings that was baked you don't hear me baked they say it baked because it was spicy bbq. I would have loved to have been asked weather I wanted my wings fried or baked But the ladies were nice. Driving from Fort Worth it wasn't worthy Not a drive I would take again

Shrimp was perfect. Daiquiris were lit. They had me right. The DJ was playing all the right hits and tbh it's fit for a grown crowd.

I enjoyed what I tried and I do plan to come back for other visits. This is what I tried: 88 sauce: 8/10 medium spice, garlicky, could have more lemon and a hint of sweetness to balance. I do like this sauce and would try again. Lemon pepper sauce: 10/10 I gelt this one was more of the balance I was looking for. It could still use a bit more sweet but to me it is the best one. Garlic sauce: 7/10 if you enjoy a heavy garlic flavor this is the one. Not too bad but not my favorite due to the lack in balance. Garlic noodles: 8/10 the noodles were cooked perfectly. The garlic is present through and through. I did try it with the 88 special sauce. I also added a hint of sweet with chili sauce. The added sauce brought it up to a 10. Eggs: 8/10 basic boiled eggs. Could have been boiled a few less minutes. Got them in the 88 sauce. White clams: 10/10 I enjoy the tender chew of this over the manila clams. I tried these with the lemon pepper sauce. I like the lemon pepper sauce the best with these. Manila clams: 7/10 these are ok, they are more chewy than the white clams. I am glad I tried them to establish the difference. Crab legs: 10/10 well cooked not over cooked. Juicy and fresh. Sausage, corn, potatoes: 10/10 sausage plumb and juicy with a snap. Corn sweet, plump, and perfectly cooked. Potatoes most of them were cooked perfectly and just a few could have cooked a bit longer.

Can't beat all day happy hour on a Sunday! Good seafood and plenty of options to mix and match…read more Garlic noodles were really good and a big portion to share with the table.

(UPDATE) I just spent a 4 day weekend in New Orleans on an exclusive foodie trip, and dived into…read moresome mom & pop eateries such as Deanies, Salvos, Zydecos And more, of the 7 Restaurants I went to in 4 days, All of them indeed had Sweet Tea. Delicious Southern Sweet Tea at that not what passes for sweet tea in Texas. I was not told to add grainy sugar into unsweetened tea like I was here. my tour guide was a local woman who's lived in the heart of New Orleans for 63 years, and was shocked and appalled when I read to her what the management of Charlie's Creole Kitchen replied to my critique regarding the Sweet Tea, (lack there of, as well as his belief that it isn't commonplace, or borderline essential) she was shocked in disbelief about as well as the astronomical prices we have to pay as their serving sizes in New Orleans are substantially bigger, for either equal or in some cases even cheaper prices. A Bowl of Gumbo in Texas, is a Cup in New Orleans this trends everywhere I visited. I understand importing certain coastal based ingredients can drive up the cost of the food, got it! that doesn't bother me as much as being gaslighted about things where this establishment does fall short. as a native Floridian, Foodie, and Avid Traveler. I don't really care how long someone's been running a kitchen (one way) constructive criticism should be embraced to increase the quality of an establishment, not gotten defensive over. Removing one star for having to go all the way to New Orleans to not feel like a crazy person about the Sweet Tea and Prices. This place is already really good! but could still be better! (OP) As someone from the Deep South, I have high standards for Southern Dives. First, a warning for my fellow Deep-Southerners: they must get away with this with their native Texan Patrons, but the lack of Sweet-Tea is Blasphemy. Unsweetened only. That's an automatic loss of a star. (that seems unfair over a beverage? no.) because for a lot of us from Louisiana, Bama, Florida, Georgia. That are looking for a little piece of home to dine at, A good sweet tea is the standard of a southern comfort meal. It's the peanut butter to jelly. The milk to cereal, the, Well you get it.. The Standouts: * Baked Stuffed Flounder (10/10): Hands down the best dish I sampled. The roasted red pepper sauce is incredible, and the cheese grits make it a real southern comfort platter. * Chicken, Shrimp & Bacon Corn Chowder (10/10): Truly New England-level quality. An absolute explosion of flavor. * Crab Cakes (10/10): Rich, delicious, and worth every bite. The Middle Ground: The Boudin Balls and Seafood Gumbo were solid (7/10), though the gumbo doesn't quite reach the level of a spot like Pappadeaux, it's decent. $11 for 3 decent Boudin Balls is highway robbery at its best. The Fried Seafood Platter was good, 7.5/10 but at $35, the platter is on the smaller side, especially only given one piece of catfish. The Oysters & Shrimp were good, the Crawfish decent, Catfish was decent, it had a small hint of fishiness, but it was good overall nonetheless. The side salads (3/10) the after thought of the menu, chopped head of lettuce smothered in ranch (or Italian) with one banana pepper, and one slice of tomato that looks like it was suppose to be on a burger, no toppings at all. Truck stops have better prepared salads. Which wouldn't typically be a problem if this was a budget-friendly eatery, but for its Texas-Sized prices, And New-York sized portions. The oversight of the Sweet-Tea and a decent side salad is for sure a miss. It might fully please Texans, but it left somethings to be desired from a non-Texan southerner. That being said! It is absolutely well worth the visit! The food was all above average for the region, the service was friendly, attentive and fast, the food came out quickly and efficiently. The location isn't great, but not bad. a little tight and congested, the interior is very mom & pop feeling which is nice. I truly did enjoy my experience, misses and all. And look forward to returning to sample more of the menu!

I started off with Boudain Balls as an appetizer. They were SO. FREAKING. GOOD!!! These deep fried, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside scrumptious mouth watering balls were bursting with so much flavor! They seasoned it so perfectly! It came in an order of three and I didn't even share! My friends had to order their own. Lol. The Boudain Balls were made from chopped sausage, rice, and a combination of vegetable, and aromatic seasoning rolled into a delicious ball! Be careful though cus it was served steaming hot! My table also ordered these bomb wings! They were crispy and crunchy! The salt and peppery seasoning balanced well with the sautéed onions and spicy chili pepper flakes! SO GOOD. I was preoccupied with the Boudain balls, so my friends only left me like two wings to eat. We ordered like 15 lbs. of crawfish and the seasoning was perfection! I thought I heard that they didn't have good sized crawfish this year - I guess because JT Cajun got them all! I was surprised that the crawfish were all pretty big and were just alive a few minutes before going into our bellies. We also ordered the snow crab legs and shrimp! The snow crab legs still had that crisp crack when we opened them (you know that's fresh!) and the shrimp were jumbo and slightly sweet. Sometimes a place will have great seafood, but their seasoning may be lackluster. Then, other places have great seasoning, but not the freshest seafood. JT Cajun does it juuuuuuust right! The seasoning is in point, the seafoood fresh, and the prices are so reasonable! Don't be deterred by the simple exterior. This place has some of the BEST Cajun seafood I've ever eaten!
