I had not planned to shop for clothes, but happened to spot this store while getting coffee across the street. Lucky me! I loved so many of the items, a wide range of options from basic to unusual. The prices are incredible too, given the quality of the fabric and the fact that the hemp is locally produced. As a bonus, Marcel was so nice, warm and low-key. I have a beautiful bamboo skirt that was gifted to me almost ten years ago, and it has only one tiny little hole and hasn't faded at all. I guess I am kinda tough on my cloths because most garments get pretty messed up but I am astounded by how durable this bamboo material is. It is super lightweight and comfortable too. I met Marcel and he is a super duper guy! Very friendly and down to earth. He designs his own clothing and has a unique tag on them. It's a picture of Marcel himself when he was about 2 yrs old. Some funky looking kid I must admit {lol}. I am in love with the Hemp sweat pants. It is my all time favorite pants to lounge in. Nice and thick material that keeps me warm and comfy. Cost is pricey but worth it! He also have cute funky jewelry. I bought really cute rings for $10 ea. I can't wait to go back to buy more hemp sweat pants. I do have a special request... Marcel is great! Went in yesterday, found 100% cotton serape blankets-I have been looking for a cotton serape for some time, most these days are acrylic. While there, I left a bag, had started walking back up State Street, sat down with my daughter for lunch. Realized we didn't have the bag. My daughter went back down to Marcel's, and there he was with my bag. I have been going to Marcel Hemp forever because I have a great experience everytime I shop there. Not only is the clothes great because it is mainly made of hemp which is surprisingly soft but the store also has a really cool vibe. The clothes last forever and I especially like the store because it is very eco-friendly as well. I recommend visiting this store if you are in town but if you are from out of town I recently found out they have an online store as well! Not only does Marcel have the coolest clothes -- I got an adorable shirt for my 2-year-old son and a super-cute embroidered dress for my friend's 3-year-old daughter at his shop when we were visiting Santa Barbara -- but he is a one-of-a-kind, spectacularly sweet and helpful human being. Backstory: months after our visit, things went horribly wrong and the janitor at my work threw out the box containing the dress that I had brought to work to mail out (I had been saving it for my friend's daughter's birthday and a couple days after bringing the box into my office, it vanished overnight. I can only assume he thought it was empty bc the box was light...) Suffice it to say I was really sad and pissed abt it. Ragey even. And then Marcel turned my Friday around. My mantra this year is "don't give up." Not particularly original, but it's getting me through 2017 and a triathlon. Anyway, I decided not to give up on gifting my friend's toddler this unique and adorable dress I had picked out just for her on a special day trip to SB. I called Marcel as soon as I realized the dress was gone (the Friday afternoon before Memorial Day weekend), told him the story, and he knew exactly the dress I was describing and gave me some comparable options. He texted me pics of the choices, found my little friend the perfect dress, and packed and shipped it to her. All this while I was standing in the wine aisle at Target looking at the screw-top selection because that's the best kind. I probably would have ruminated on the details of the dress tragedy (why had I procrastinated? Why did I leave the Marcel gift box inside a shipping box in my office overnight? Why was the janitor taking my boxes, empty or not? Why did the cutest hand embroidered dress ever get tossed out like it was nothing???? Whyyyyyyyy??????) and I would have been totally bummed for days.... if I hadn't reached out to Marcel and he hadn't been so wonderful and generous. He is an amazing person and completely changed the course of my three-day weekend. I am now hopeful that a small child in need will find the dress that got thrown out and be super excited to wear it. Because what are we if not the stories we tell ourselves? And I'm also so, so happy that the new dress, which is equally adorable, made it to my friend's daughter a day earlier than Marcel expected and was in her hands on her birthday. All thanks to Marcel. I'm convinced he's a buddha. Just the best! Thank you!!! Ps. I also learned in chatting with Marcel that the little dude on the Marcel Hemp label is a two-year-old Marcel, which I found so cute and charming! read more

The Marcel Hemp pants are great. I have the women's drawstring waist camo pant. They are a beautiful cut and very flattering for my body, relaxed and stylish. Also the drawstring waist band Bali pants, they are a wide, capri cut with batik pockets and waist line.
