This is quite literally one of the most beautiful shops I've ever stepped into. Everything about it feels so thoughtfully curated from the clothing to the art to the overall atmosphere. The customer service is on another level. It didn't feel transactional at all, it felt like an experience. The girls working there are so attentive and genuinely kind, and Jill, the owner, is incredible. You can tell how much care she puts into the store, especially with the dresses she hand-makes individually it makes everything feel so special and elevated. The denim selection is unreal. I tried on a few pairs and they fit better than any jeans I've ever owned. I didn't even have to look. Today is National Women's Day and I got a nudge. A nudge to review a local business owned by a woman who I personally admire. I immediately thought of my friend Jill and her amazing business Loveworn. In my head I thought that since I had reviewed it in the past I would update my previous review..... I looked and What??? I hadn't reviewed it before! I was dumbfounded, perplexed, puzzled and confused. How could it possibly be that I missed that!! So here goes. I have known Jill for decades, I hate saying that because she is a rare ageless woman that most people could not possibly fathom that her career success would possibly be what it is. Let me put it this way, Katie Perry, a few years ago was doing a concert in SB and reflecting on her High School years and an amazing store on State Street that when you purchased an outfit it would raise your self image to the point of life changing. Katie couldn't remember the name of the store but hundreds in the audience could. Jill's first successful Santa Barbara business! It was called True Grit . Jill has always been a fan of denim, a fan of vintage. Kind a fashion "savant". SB lost Jill for a few years but SB is somewhat magnetic and it drew her back in. Early in the days of the Funk Zone she took a risk. Opens a fashionable clothing store which was in a "funky" little location far from State Street. Her first year I had the privilege of renting the back 1/3 of the store as my tiny little motorcycle museum. Cool clothing and vintage motorcycles pair quite well. While Jill is high in fashion I am not. I honestly didn't "get it" now I do. Jill has SO much talent. She creates her own clothing, she customizes vintage clothing. From T-shirts to cashmere sweaters her custom touches take normal to an elevated level of Cool. What Katie saw in Jill's clothes rings true today but on a level ten times higher. While 3/4 of world might be happy buying whatever is fashionable from the newest store in the mall, many people want something a whole lot more special, a sweater, a jacket or a dress that matches their personality. A unique piece of clothing art that will never be seen on another person. Loveworn is very much a woman's clothing store but they do have items for men. As the sign says, Love Worn is a vintage denim body shop. Custom made, hand crafted falls into their expertise & apparel options as well. Stoned immaculate is the only branded line they carry. It has a 70's aesthetic and vibe. They feature handmade, silk screened, stitched, punched, cut, studded t-shirts. Their other apparel consists of silk nightie style dresses, silk bralettes, kaftans, and tons of denim. Think shorts, skirts and more. The place has an intensely artistic feel. Every detail has been thought out and has some kind of art inspiration applied to the veneer. It is an insanely cool store by way of its layout and aesthetic. I picked up a cotton towel featuring a Native American styled design pattern. It feels luxurious and is oversized, a perfect early Christmas gift for my favorite surfer. Additionally they have retro pins, tons of stoned jewelry and bracelets around $100. The prices are on par for this Los Angeles esque store and what they feature is surely not to he found elsewhere. read more

Love Worn is a Hidden Gem!! Well it isn't that hidden, it is ground zero in the middle of Santa Barbara's coolest area...the Funk Zone! You will find it across the street from Municipal Wine (reviewed seperately) and it is easy to find, you just have to look for the big roll-up door that has "Love" written on it in huge red letters. Love Worn is not just a clothing store, it is an art gallery of clothing. So many of the items are re-purposed, cut, shredded, screen printed, embroidered. How about a bikini top made from an old denim pair of pants.... One of the things I love is that Wallace, the artist from the Elizabeth Gordon Gallery next to ROCO is involved. His art is everywhere. Even on the clothing. Can't afford the $4,000 painting of the Indian? Just buy a $80 shirt instead. The owner is adorable and has a ton of experience designing, sewing and selling clothing. She had a store on State Street for over 10 years. While most of the clothing is either made by the owner or has her customized touch there are also amazing purses made locally as well as Jewelry and all sorts of cool accessories and some of the most amazing patches you could ever find. You like one and they will probably sew it on for you What was totally unexpected was that the back room is filled with motorcycles. Old antique ones. Some over 100 years old. read more

Even better is that they have awesome motorcycles for dudes to look at in the back while the ladies shop. Certainly kept me per-occupied. My girl got a new purse and she was so ecstatic. I had the best shopping experience of my life at Loveworn. The shop had an eclectic, artsy vibe and their unique selection of timeless vintage Levi's was incredible. The owner, Jill, warmly welcomed my friend and I in and asked us what we were looking for. We were both shopping for cutoffs, and she immediately set us up in a dressing room and started handing us options. She knew our sizes (we have very different body types) without even asking, and we both ended up buying 2 pairs! Jill also offered to custom cut the pairs we selected. I had the absolute best experience here. As soon as I walked up, the owners introduced themselves to me and shook my hand. They let me browse peacefully on my own. I just came into browse for fun and I grabbed a rose iron on patch for my jacket. Jill, the owner, was so so so nice and sewed it on for me right then so that it would be secure if I washed the jacket. While I was waiting, she saw me looking at the Levis and mentioned that she had 501s in my size if I was interested. I am a larger girl (size 14 in pants) and I had never imagined I would be able to own a pair of these much coveted pants. Bless her heart, Jill went through piles of inventory and pulled multiple pairs until we found one that fit! She then pinned and even cut them for me to the perfect length. They were the most expensive jeans I've ever bought but they are vintage original made in the USA Levi 501s and they look perfect!! They have a huge collection of original vintage jeans, cutoffs, as well as vintage t-shirts as well as other knick knacks. read more

went here last week. the sales associate wasnt very friendly but not rude. greeted me and said "hi" but that was it no making conversation or what so ever. i used to work in retail and i know it can be tiring to chat with every customer who comes in but its your job to do it. im not saying sit down and have a conversation but at least be inviting. anyway, for a minute i thought maybe thats just a standard welcome for people coming in but after a couple minutes an old white couple came in. she said more than "hi" in a enthusiastic way and she asked them " have you shop with us before?" spill etc. and made conversations with them. maybe im not the "love worn" demographic or i wasnt a white girl/guy all dress up in vintage but you shouldnt treat people the way you do base on what they look like. i was looking for some pair of vintage jeans that day and i wouldve dropped some cash but unfortunately your sales associate wasnt having it so an opportunity missed for you guys. read more
