Stopped and had some delicouce gelato to cool of in the summer heat. Bought some Dubi chocolate and did some window shopping too. They have a parking loy at the basement level wich is very convienant. It is paid parking and you pay at the machine at the bottom of the escalators. No cash, no problem the machine takes cedit cards.

After having our donuts, we walked around the plaza. This plaza is similar to an outdoor mall. There are wide walkways with restaurants and boutique shops. There is parking around the borders. The further in I walked, the more I felt like i had teleported to Europe! The main reason we explored this plaza was because of the sculpture, then the telephone booth, then the turtle pond, etc., and we just kept finding more sculptures & things of interest! Points of interest that I saw: Generation Bridge, Lion, Whale Tail Bench, Telephone Booth, Tile Plaque with La Arcada history, Saint Barbara Award to Hugh Petersen, Turtle Fountain, Ben Franklin, The Mozart Trio Fountain, Mission Bell, Ship Cannon, Sea Turtle, Sea Lion, & Dolphins. There's also one that took me by surprise called "Nice To See You". It's a man washing a window. And there's a man with a child on his shoulders with a fair mural behind them called, "Nice To See You". I'm sure I missed a few things. This was a cool unplanned discovery!

The food hall is smallish in relation to how much real estate these outlets have. Outside of the food hall on the property are Wetzel's Pretzels and Fatburger which has its own space for seating. In the early 2010s, I've visited Guess and purchased pairs of sandals. Was not really motivated to check them out. Did visit Nike, Adidas, and Puma. Puma was not busy and had pretty decent prices. Adidas was crazy busy especially with customers interested in FIFA World Cup gear from various countries. Nike was super busy too. It's very convenient to the freeway, with lots of free parking, plus various restaurants to refuel you during your shopping adventures. The stores are good sized with elbow room and high ceilings. The exterior facades were designed with a mix of architecture to give the effect of a village, not a monolithic samey-samey feel. We stopped by two weekends ago while hunting for decor supplies for our daughter's baby shower. My destination that day was Michael's. Dear Hubby headed for B&N to enjoy the periodicals section while I did my thing. That day I didn't have extra time, but I have shopped the Ventura Kohl's previously. There's also a Pet Smart and Sprouts in the plaza. Noted that StoneFire Grill took over for Macaroni Grill. Lots of palm trees grace the parking lot to remind you that you're in Southern California and near the beach.

One of the neatest reclaimed spaces I've ever seen…read more The Mill may appear as new construction, but the main building has actually been present for many decades to my knowledge. It was recently beautifully refurbished into an oasis of an artisan strip mall and offers surprises both inside and out. The venue is wonderfully landscaped and offers great curb appeal, with ambient lighting and drought tolerant vegetation. The parking area is small but there are reserved spaces in a lot across the street where Low Pigeon Coffee is located. The exterior retains its original "mill" charm with natural wood siding and large industrial windows. You'd have no idea it housed several businesses from the front and that is what I appreciate. The facade was kept to look like how it always has, so it remains in tune with the neighborhood rather than sticking out like a sore thumb. You'll find the coolest courtyard just beyond the entrance which is shared by all businesses. It is well lit and offers ample seating and a few clean restrooms. I've been when there is live music and it's the ideal place to enjoy a beverage under the evening sky. There are a handful of small businesses occupying The Mill. I love the vibe of Potek Wine, the interior is intimate and the exposed barrels make for a nice backdrop. I'd say the star of the show is the Third Window Brewing which offers a large main room along with a secondary private patio and a rotating restaurant which varies from their in-house menu to nightly popup dining. A great vibe overall.
