La Cumbre Plaza: Santa Barbara's Unexpected Art Revival…read more It's not true that La Cumbre Plaza is a "dead space." In fact, it has become one of the most vibrant creative hubs in Santa Barbara. The number of galleries continues to grow, transforming the plaza into a vibrant new art destination. Grab a coffee, take a stroll, and discover six galleries and creative spaces -- from the colorful and elegant works at Illuminations and Elevate, and Fine Line Galleries, to the ever-changing exhibits at The Voice Gallery. Step into the Museum of Tibetan Art & Culture and Legacy Art Studios to meet Lama Tashi, or visit the Grace Fisher Foundation's Inclusive Arts Clubhouse for a heartwarming dose of community creativity. Pop-up shops, such as Crimson Holidays, and the variety of local artists make it the perfect place for meaningful gift shopping. And if you come on the Third Friday of the month, the entire plaza lights up for the Gallery Row Art Walk -- with music, wine, laughter, and hands-on art-making. You might even help paint a giant paper-mâché elephant for good luck! La Cumbre Plaza isn't fading -- it's evolving. The artists are here, and they're bringing new life to town.

I had a really good experience with customer service at the returns/order pick-up desk this morning…read more(8/2/26). The woman working was so sweet and helpful! She made the experience quick, easy, and painless! As someone who's worked in retail, I know those roles can be tough and patience can wear thin, but she was so bubbly and kind. I was already having a rough morning and truly appreciated her kindness! Also, I love that Macy's still stocks Papyrus stationary/cards (carousels of the cards are near the returns' desk) - it's so hard to find them anywhere and they have a great selection!

Unfortunately, after only wearing them for about a day and a half, the bottom of the shoe started coming apart while I was out on a walk. I had to walk home with the sole flapping around. I brought them back to Macy's two days after purchasing them, expecting a simple return for a defective product. Instead, the process was frustrating. The cashier who originally sold me the shoes was the one handling the return, but I still had to explain the situation. She then brought out another employee, who inspected the shoes and I again explained that they were purchased just two days earlier and were clearly defective. There was no apology or acknowledgment of the inconvenience. She then had to go check with someone else, and both employees disappeared into the back for several minutes before finally processing the credit. A defective product can happen, but how a company handles the situation matters. This was not a customer-friendly experience, and it certainly did not make me feel valued as a customer. This was my first time physically shopping at a department store in years since I usually shop online. Unfortunately, this experience makes me much less likely to return to Macy's. I am also still waiting to confirm that the refund was issued correctly, since the receipt appears to show a card number that does not match the card I used for the purchase. I hope that gets resolved without further hassle. Not a good way to win back customers.
