Such a beautiful stop for lunch! I had seen quite a few videos showing stopping by Summerland and Field and Fort on the way to Santa Barbara, and I happened to be passing by on the way home around lunch time. We got the roast beef sandwich and the peach scone. Ummm... yum? Everything was so delicious! The pastries shelf looked so good it was hard to choose but I love what we got! And the sandwiches are made on Levain bread so you know it's good. The roast beef was delicious as well. There's plenty of outdoor seating and it was such a peaceful environment right off the freeway. There's also a gorgeous huge home and gift shop that was fun to stroll through. read more

First time here. I ordered a lemon drop while I waited for my sweet porridge, and I'm glad I did because it took a while for the porridge to come out. They have a nice outdoor seating area, although you can hear the traffic going by. The sweet porridge was tasty when it finally arrived, although the presentation was a little disappointing. It looked a bit like a sad face on the plate. I also expected a variety of fruit on top, but there was only one type of fruit. The biggest issue, though, was the candied pecans. They tasted rancid, and it wasn't just one bad nut. I had three bites of the pecans before giving up and started picking them out of the dish. That really detracted from the meal. If the pecans had been fresh, I would have enjoyed the dish a lot more. read more

I can stay here all day. I mean it :) My husband and I came here to have lunch and of course to browse through the store. This is a cafe and a home goods store that features a curated selection of goods such as fine china, gourmet food, candles, cookbooks, garden supplies and much more. Everything is unique and carefully curated. I had to walk through the store twice to be able to see it all. I did end up buying an ice cream scoop, salt and pepper grinder sea salt from Italy an olive oil and a cheese knife. So many things to look at. Just amazing ....customer service is helpful and friendly. There is something for everyone here. From a bottle of $ vinegar to a $$$$ Italian china ... The food is delicious here. We ordered sandwiches, scones and coffee and enjoyed every bite at the cozy patio outside by the water feature surrounded with trees and plants. This place is cozy, trendy and beautiful. A must stop when in the area. read more

This is one of my favorite stops traveling to or from Santa Barbara! I absolutely love the café, the Matcha, coffee and food. Here is outstanding! I simply want everything in their store, so many beautiful HomeGoods and design ideas. They carry some of the best hard to find and local brands, I can't imagine a better place to stock and showcase my home with items from. Service is wonderful, they are so friendly and welcoming here. Plenty of easy parking, highly recommended also for gifts for friends, family or of course yourself! read more

Visited Field + Fort for brekkie not once but TWICE on our girls weekend getaway to Summerland. The cutest little gem of a cafe and store that sits parallel to the ocean where you're bound to a celebrity sighting on any given day. Walked to the cafe on Saturday morning while staying at the Inn about 200 ft away. It took a bit of time to work through the line but after ordering and sitting in the zen garden, my English muffin sandwich and coffee was delivered with a warm smile. The highlight was the fresh house made English muffin and habanero apricot jam. The jam was so good I'm still thinking about it. Loved our experience so much we came back the following morning. Ordered the breakfast sandwich this time around and it was just as good. The staff was friendly and helpful. Pricing is all reasonable considering the freshness and quality of the food. So glad to have discovered this gem and will most definitely be back when in or driving through the area. read more

I went to Field and Fort for the first time in Summerland last weekend! It is order at the counter style, with plenty of outdoor seating options that are first come, first serve. My partner and I split a grilled cheese sandwich with tomato jam (so good), and the Jerusalem feast. It was SO much food and everything was so tasty. The pita, dips, salad seasoning, and sandwich were all 10/10. I am already trying to plan my next visit! read more

This is a review of the food and coffee service, not the home store adjacent. It would be difficult to pick this place again given how crazy slow the guy was working the counter. And yes it is just the one guy. My order should have been incredibly fast, like one minute or less. I had a soda bottle from the open case and chose two baked items, one of which was already shrink wrapped. The line just kept accumulating. My order came after one guy took, kid you not, over 5 minutes to order. It's not rocket science to whomever manages this place. Do better. Pastries were adequate. Can't comment on coffee because I decided to forgo one after standing in line so long. read more

Sososo tasty and it's all very healthy! I ordered several dishes to try and I was impressed by the variety and how filling the dishes were. My #1 was the grilled cheese with tomato jam. I loved the tomato jam and would have loved to purchase a jar to take home and make my own grilled cheese with. it's also an interesting concept of a restaurant/cafe because they have a cute little homeware store right next to it that you can shop around while waiting for your food. read more

Stopped at Field + Fort on a drive up to Santa Barbara and was glad I did -- Summerland is a charming little town with a stretch of boutiques and coastal energy that makes you want to slow down and explore (wish I had more time to shop around!). The restaurant itself has limited parking, but there's nearby street parking and it's a short walk. There's plenty of outdoor seating, and the space is effortlessly styled -- rustic, beachy, and peaceful. It's also connected to a curated home goods shop, which adds to the full experience. I had the mushroom toast and a salad. Both were light and well-plated -- not the most bold in flavor, but still fresh and enjoyable. The menu is definitely vegetarian-friendly, which I appreciated. It was standard pricing for what you'd expect in southern California and for brunch lunch spot a long the beach so a little pricey but nothing crazy. More than just a place to eat, Field + Fort feels like a coastal escape. Between the ambiance, partial beach view, and the shop next door, it's worth the stop even if the food isn't the only highlight. A great spot if you're in the area and looking for a quiet, aesthetically pleasing brunch or lunch stop. read more

Great vegetarian selections and putdoor patio. Friendly attentive staff, especially for an order-at-the-counter cafe.

Very cute location with a Beautiful view of the ocean and amazing outdoor seating area in two different areas! They had a very cute store inside the cafe that had a bunch of things. Field & Fort is a charming blend of New England meets California. You order outside at the walk-up window, which keeps it casual, but everything feels classy--the food and beverages are absolutely delicious! My daughter loves this place and took us there for lunch. The line was long and it took 30min to order then another 35/40min to get the food so quite long overall. They were nice enough to spontaneously bring us a free scone for dessert for the long wait. We all had sandwiches: the breakfast, the Reuben and grilled cheese, honestly they all were delicious!! We also had a coffee, lemonade and a fizzy drink plus a cheesecake, bill was $100 so not cheap. The shop is super nice with really cool bougie assortment, also not cheap but very beautiful. read more

The best chai, other than my homemade Chai, that I have had anywhere. The order process is tedious, I would recommend two lines, one just for coffee and pastry and another for meals. Someone wanting an espresso drink should not have to wait in line forever behind people ordering lunch. read more

Such a cute café and shop. Recommended to me by my friend who lives nearby. We stopped in for a coffee and a grilled cheese sandwich. It was delicious. Summerland, CA I have been curious about this place since seeing it under construction back in 2019. This is a high end Home Decor store which also provides Design Services, and has a showroom of antiques by appointment. We saw an $850.00 mortar and pestle and a $5000.00 Danish Antique Chair. I also saw a beautiful $2200.00 19th Century Antique French Mirror. The main store sells soaps, lotions, kitchenware, gourmet food items, bedding, linens...etc. Most things are for the lifestyle of the rich and famous but an inspiration none the less...but there are also smaller splurge items and unique brands for gifts, kitchen and home. There is a gourmet coffee bar and Cafe on site with outdoor seating.. We had already eaten lunch but grabbed a hot tea with steamed milk. The breakfast and lunch menu boasts of house made items and local fresh produce. There is a dedicated in house chef and also a pastry chef. Every dish I saw coming out of the kitchen looked like health on a plate, full of vibrant colors and textures...even the house made grilled reuben sandwich with side salad looked fantastic. Outdoor dining. Small Parking lot and street parking. A return visit is on my list of to do's. read more

Just passing through here after Sacred Spaces and pleasantly surprised at the amazing products coming out of the cafe. I thought this place was just an interiors/ furniture but it also has a lovely selection of snacks, drinks and sandwiches. We got the patatas bravas (and added a poached egg per the cashier's recommendation...amazing choice), some lattes, quiche and vanilla bean cheesecake. All of them came out beautifully prepared and easy to eat outside. I love the outdoor dining space, sunny and also has some umbrellas and an awning for those who prefer shade. I was excited to try this place, and even though the staff were super nice and friendly, unfortunately, it didn't quite live up to my expectations. I ordered a cappuccino and Shakshuka. The coffee was fine, but I have definitely had better cappuccinos. As for the Shakshuka, I found the flavor to be a bit strange, and the eggs were overcooked, which was disappointing. I would easily give Field + Fort 5 stars if they could fix their ordering process. There is only one cashier and when they get busy, the line is long and moves VERY slowly. Once you have ordered, the food takes quite a while to get to the table - so between the line and getting your food it could easily be 45 minutes to an hour before you see any food. Don't come unless you have a little time to spare; it takes some time to place and receive your order. We arrived at 11:20am on Saturday and waited 15 minutes in line to order and received our order about 15-20 minutes later. We got the roast beef sandwich, chips and a GF peanut butter bar. Stopped here after spending some time at Sacred Space next door and googling "food near me" and was pleasantly surprised to find a lovely little restaurant (and furniture store??) just 82 feet away. We had to try. It was busy on a Saturday for sure but we were lucky enough to find a table that wasn't wet from the rain. The cashier said it would be a 15 minute wait for food but it was delivered in under 10! I very much enjoyed the burrata bowl. It was so fresh and delicious. I'll definitely be back! This is a fun shop that is designed around offering quality cooking utensils and/or household items that will provide you with a unique and creative living experience. One of the great things about this shop is that the moment you walk in you are confronted by a very well designed store, offering a vast/visual display of truly unique items. It's really quite breathtaking to walk into this shop and just look around. You see some great things that you would not expect. This is a very open and clean space. Thus, perhaps providing you with the inspiration to go and have one of their tasty drinks or meals. The staff here is very nice.
