Service was great. Their promise that my insurance would probably pay the bill was not. Their inability to bill my insurance the way that the insurance company wanted to be billed was not great either. They tried to get paid exactly one time. They did it incorrectly and then refused to resubmit it any other way. Now, I have to pay them out of pocket and chase my insurance myself. I'll never go to this office again. read more

My 86 year old mother has been going to Burbank Periodontics for more than 30 years. The other day, after a stroke, she forgot to cancel an appointment and was charged a 75.00, fee for late cancellation. When I called to get this waived, i spoke with a, Myra who advised me this was office policy and would not waive. I advised her we were sending the fee and would not be returning, and would like her medical record for a new dentist. I've had two recent lousy experiences with Dr. Waki and his office. When I went for my last cleaning in Dr. Waki's office, I was told one of my wisdom teeth was damaged and would eventually need to be extracted. Dr. Waki instructed me to make an appointment when I couldn't take the pain any longer. When that day came a few months later, the office said I needed to come in for a consultation first. 2 weeks after that call, Dr. Waki saw me (30 minutes late on an 8:30 appointment!), and offered to perform the extraction on the spot. But since the office had told me I needed to have a consultation first, I had not made arrangements to take the entire day off from work to recover. So we made an appointment for the following week to schedule the extraction. In advance of that appointment, I called Dr. Waki's office to ask about the recovery. I had travel plans a few days afterwards and didn't want to have to worry about post-extraction care. The office insisted that I would be back to normal and could eat regularly in a couple of days. When I arrived for the extraction, Dr. Waki told me I wouldn't be able to eat normally for a week. This was precisely what I was hoping to avoid when I called in advance to ensure I could travel without worry. So I left, without going through the extraction and had to delay for weeks. I had a few procedures with Dr Waki in the past that went smoothly. But I won't be returning to Dr. Waki or his uninformed staff. I'm glad so many people have had positive experiences with this office, but my recent history has been frustrating and time-wasting. read more

My general dentist referred​ me​ to come here. I had to extract one of the teeth. During the operation, the nurse and the doctor were talking about office matter for all the way to the end. I felt both of them had ​no respect for me. Unprofessional at all. They could talk about​ those rumors and office politics at their lunch breaks but not during painful extract operation! Took so much time to answer all my questions, ease my fears, and make the least invasive recommendation that would not require and surgery or tinkering. Dr Waki performed implant surgery on my 75 yr old, very frail Mom. I met with him in his office, and he and his staff were great. My Mom was done in under an hour (for the initial extraction of the old tooth and insertion of the new implant). He was personable, gentle (according to my Mom) and patient with her. She had very little pain after the procedure. He even gave her a senior citizen discount! This is a great oral surgeon. read more

Been a patient of Dr. Waki's for probably 10 years now. I've had a number of procedures done by him, such as implants, extracts and gum lowering. Each time he clearly explained what was going to happen and made the experience completely painless with thorough (effective) local anesthetics. Pain (or "discomfort" as they like to say in the dental profession) has been relatively minor after every procedure, and the Dr. himself has called that evening to check up on me, which is appreciated. Most of my visits there are spent on quarterly cleanings and I want to give a nice shout out to Anna. I've been doing these deep cleanings for years so have had other hygienists to compare her with and she is the best. She's taken the time to really think through the anesthesia injection methodology (location) to find out what best works for me so that I don't feel much pain at all. When I was informed of my necessary tooth extraction, I was PETRIFIED!!! Teeth issues is my nightmare. Dr. Waki and his team are AMAZING! From the front desk to the technicians to Dr. Waki, all of them were compassionate and comforting. I decided to come here to get a gum graft because it's right across the street from my workplace. The staff are nice, even going so far as to work with me to correct a billing dispute with my dental insurance. The gum graft surgery itself was quick and painless. I got my two front bottom row teeth done as there was slight recession and root exposure. After doing my best to follow after care instructions, I went to two post-op appointments to check on the progress and am pleased with the results. The exposed roots have been covered and the gum line looks natural and well-shaped. I give Dr Waki and his practice a thumbs up! Thank you for the good experience. read more

This is my second review of this practice. I was initially sent to Dr. Taylor Hoang as referral about a gum issue. I saw her a second time because I was having severe occlusion pain following the placement of my implant crowns after a full reconstructive dental procedure on my upper palate with another dentist. The other dentist dismissed my pain symptoms and continued to think that I was being histrionic or exaggerating the pain. I was not. Dr. Hoang listened to my concerns, evaluated my teeth, and told me that she wanted me to see a prosthodontist who specializes in such issues. She reassured me, she made me feel heard. She emphasized how I was articulate, coherent, and lucid, pointing out that I did not at all strike her as one that is 'imagining' the pain and that I was actually FEELING pain. I say this only because my primary dentist made it seem like it was all in my head, or that I was magnifying the pain which is extremely disconcerting to have someone minimize your pain. Anyone that has ever had severe dental pain knows that it can be extraordinarily painful and to have someone try to negate that is dehumanizing. Severe Dental issues can be emotionally and physically not to mention financially taxing. But having a dentist that takes the time to take you seriously means the world to any patient. Thank you Dr. Hoang. Outstanding periodontist and exceptional patient care. Should you need to see a top tier periodontist, you will not be disappointed in her care. read more

I was referred to Dr. Waki from my dental office for a receding gum under one tooth. The phrase "gum graft" made my skin crawl. I am very, very nervous at the dentist and knowing that in this case, he was going to be cutting and grafting my gums - I was beyond nervous. (To be honest, I took about 3 Xanax before the appointment. I had my sister drive me). Thankfully, I was pretty out of it during the procedure. Certainly not a pleasant thing to have done, but all went well. About a year later I had to have an extraction and an implant. Ugh. For a person that fears being in the dental chair, I was really worried and stressed out about this. Dr. Waki gave me a pill to take before the appointment (I can't remember the name of now, it's been a few years) and not only did it knock me out enough during the procedure, but I didn't remember a lot about it either, thankfully. Again, all went well. I was supposed to have the actual fake tooth "installed" by my regular dentist. That didn't work out very well because it took a lot of tries to get it in, which was actually painful because of all the pressure and who knows what else, and then a couple days later it came unattached from the post. By this time, I really didn't trust my regular dentist knew enough about what they were doing with the implant and I didn't want to go back to them. At this point, there was also yellow stuff in the socket and I was worried it was infected. I called Dr. Waki's office concerned about having an infection at the implant site and he took me in that day. (He said it wasn't infected, it was just bacteria). He then worked very, very hard to attach/fit the fake tooth to the post. He had other patients waiting (yes, I did feel bad about being the one to back up his appointments), yet he took the time to make all the adjustments to the fake tooth and finally got it to fit, even though it was really the job of my regular dentist (who I lost faith in by this time) to do this. I really, really wish Dr. Waki was a regular dentist because I would go to him for everything, not just oral surgery. I have every confidence in him, and that is saying a lot from me. And the people in his front office are also great (receptionist, etc). A final note - you get what you pay for in this case, so don't expect it to be cheap. read more

Wow! I was having problems with a tooth forever! Finally, during re root canal, Dr. Kanter, my amazing endodontist, told me it was cracked and had to come out. She recommended Dr. Waki. I have never had an extraction, and frankly didn't expect to go through the process so soon, but when I called this morning, they had a cancellation that day, so all of a sudden, it was on! I was getting it right then and there. The local anesthetic was plenty of numbing for the tooth, and it seriously took 5 minutes I think for him to extract the tooth. I couldn't believe how easy it was...Dr. Waki is in the mid to upper range for pricing, but well worth it! You will be in good hands. Also, the office staff seems to have fun, and are very helpful. Great attitudes all around. At home recovering now, and it was so much easier than i imagined. read more

I'm not sure why all of these people have had such great experiences. I'm a really nice person and I've never had problems with doctors. I saw Dr. Waki about 3 office visits and one procedure 3-4 years ago and he couldn't have been more rude to me. I was so upset; it was quite surprising. he was insulting and not helpful and impatient and critical of my receding gums which I've since learned were due to meds I had take and acid reflux - and not bad brushing or teeth grinding which he insinuated. I The nurse was always apologetic but that was never enough. I would never ever recommend this doctor to anyone. The worst experience with a doctor or dentist that I've ever had. He does good work but if you're in the healing business and you have a bad bedside manner you're not worth seeing in my book. read more

I was referred to Dr. Waki by my dentist for a bone graft l, upon arrival I checked in everything went smooth with the doctor himself. He suggested to take X-rays and what not I told him at the moment I wasn't ready to move forward with the procedure and only wanted a consultation; he insisted and reassured nothing would be billed to me except my insurance when it was time to proceed with the services. He was very kind and very professional so I agreed, mind you I never signed any paperwork nor was told what was billed to my insurance. NOT once did I receive a bill nor a call about a balance owed, fast forward to a year later I receive a collection call about a past due amount owed to the establishment. From my understanding my insurance paid for "services" that were never provided and the X-rays were never billed. I requested a bill of explanation from my insurance and everything billed from this office was not accurate, the only thing this office did was scam my insurance. The accounting at this office is a SCAM, please beware and proceed with caution as you may never be told truthfully what is billed. I have now reported this to the Better Business Bureau and currently working with my insurance to help rectify these fraudulent charges. read more
