**Revised to address the Doctor's response - what an awful, untrustworthy and condescending person. First, he called me to discuss this review and offered a free consultation in exchange for taking down this review, which I believe is a violation of Yelp's terms. Second, what he states below is completely different from both what his staff said over the phone and not at all what he shared with me when we spoke. He was adamant that they needed to charge all fees up front. He reiterated numerous times that he wasn't a benefits expert but he has advisors and staff he trusts to understand it better. So when I shared that I am well versed on insurance benefits, both as a patient and a plan administer for my own company, I thought he might actually take interest in learning about how unethical it is to charge a patient twice. Instead he repeatedly spoke over me and told me that - while he himself wasn't knowledgeable on insurance, clearly I must still be wrong. Now he's writing that they only do this in some cases (no insurance or out of network), but all the sudden he's now saying that they only charge an estimate when the are in network - first time that's being said. This person continually spoke over me and let his ego drive the conversation. I hung up when it was clear that he had zero respect for me or the time I offered after he asked to speak to me. In no world is this someone I would trust with the health of my jaw or ever being under anesthesia. To purposely call someone to deride them when you have no real knowledge is its own ethical issue. Get your business in order, sir. First, it took three calls and two voicemails to even hear from anyone. Second, the billing practices are completely unethical - they bill you up front for all services AND then bill your insurance. They claim they'll reimburse you whatever insurance decides to pay. It's beyond unethical. Finally, their front office is wildly unhelpful. Not only do they not return calls, but they can't answer basic questions like how much a consultation costs. Between ethics violations, insurance fraud and incompetent administration, I'm not sure how they got so many 5 star reviews without paying for them (insanely common for dentists and plumbers on Yelp). read more

Needed an emergency extraction of a fractured & infected molar, and they fit me in immediately, and were able to do the extraction and place the post for an implant in the same visit. I was very nervous, but they did it all with local anesthetic, there was no pain, and Dr Nakashyan hummed along with the background music the whole time, which was distracting in the best way & genuinely calming--not a word I expected to associate with a tooth being pulled out of my face. This dentist is amazing! He is truly a technician for implants! I had a serious problem , I had a bad set of implants put in in another state and I needed them removed. Minimal pain. Done in half the time of the other dentist and did a perfect job! And his assistance are excellent as well. all of the office staff are cordial, knowledgeable, and you get the best service I think in two states that I know of I've had 12 dentist and four surgeons and he is the best. I had an emergency visit at Burbank periodontics. The stuff was helpful and very professional, they answered all my questions and did their best to accommodate me. Dr Martina Elenkova examined my tooth and recommended an extraction. She was patient very professional very knowledgeable and what's most important I completely trusted her with all treatments she recommended. The procedure went great. She had such a light touch I did not feel anything. After the procedure I had light discomfort for 2-3 hours and healing went as good as it can possible be. All of these are signs of her expertise and techniques she uses for the least pain and best outcome. I received a bill for the "comprehensive evaluation" which I paid for in the aforementioned review above along with that absurd "cancellation" fee that I incurred. Which further leads me to believe something is seriously wrong with either the SAME billing person who was rude to me and didn't process this transaction properly. Thank goodness for bank statements. This has further annoyed me and validated my experience with them. I was also advised by another periodontist that I won't mention whom knows of this place and said that it was good I did not proceed with the procedure (for reasons I will leave out of here). Leaving a review because I had a great experience and I know i get anxious going to new medical facilities, so I'd want to know / be reassured. First let me say I'm a very anxious person and a little bit of an obsessive over my health. I don't do well with medical professionals who just brush things off or forget I don't know what they know. This was not the case. Doctor Hoang was so thorough and attentive. She explained everything, gave context, gave advice, took the time to answer my questions. Honestly everything I needed. Furthermore the surgery itself could not have gone better. Her and the team were so patient and gentle with the anesthesia. I've had many many surgeries at various dentists/periodontists throughout my life and this was hands down the best. Typically it feels like dentists are rushing so they pump you with a ton of anesthesia (ouch. Pressure on gums) and then don't even wait long enough for it to kick in. Not this time. Topical anesthetic - wait - repeat - so the actual shot itself was beyond tolerable. Again gentle and patient. By the time the surgery started (gum graft btw so full on stripping skin and reattaching it) I felt NOTHING. Even easier than a cleaning. And the recovery was not nearly as bad as I expected (one week in. We will see how the rest goes). Honestly the worst part is just the annoyance of the grafts existence rather than the pain. OH and the office is clean! Like actually clean! And up to date! Honestly I can't believe the state of some of the med offices I've been (and I have good insurance too!) but this should be the standard. Anyway, I am so glad I went to her. As a very obsessive person, her demeanor / treatment was what I needed. read more

Could not be happier with the care I received at Burbank Periodontics. Had to have a wisdom tooth pulled - I had a cavity and it was causing a lot of pain. The periodontist my dentist referred me to was not available, but the receptionist was very nice and made a point of getting me in because they knew I was having pain. They gave me an appointment for the very next day and did both the exam and the extraction. (Everywhere else I called could do the exam but I'd have to come back for the extraction and I was looking at two weeks minimum before I could see anyone) I had a lot of anxiety about the procedure because I had never had a tooth pulled before, but Dr. Vahe Nakashyan did an exceptional job. He was very good at telling me what he was doing and what to expect and checking in with me along the way. He was very gentle and quick - it took them longer to numb me than it did to get the tooth out! I truly felt considered and cared for at every step of the way. 2/14/19 Been having some issues that unfortunately I ignored. My dentist referred me to Dr. Waki ( who I have seen before) for an emergent consultation. As luck would have it, his office was able to fit me in on Valentines Day ( I know... what fun!!). I love how clean looking this office is and they always have the best magazines to read. There's a restroom outside of the waiting area and it has always looked clean. I've always been impressed how well run the front office is and with Dr. Waki's professionalism. I like how he listens to what the patient has to say and he answers all my questions to my satisfaction. Unfortunately, I needed to have an emergent tooth extraction. He made sure that I wouldn't be in any pain during the extraction. He asked me often how I was during the procedure. He stopped what he was doing when I appeared to be in pain and gave me another injection for numbing and proceeded to extract my tooth all within an hour. Very impressive! Granted I couldn't go back to work afterwards due to I had gauze where my tooth used to be, and I needed to ice my cheek so that I wouldn't look like a squirrel. His assistant Valerie was also very nice and professional. She prepped me for the procedure and also answered all my questions to my satisfaction. One of the ladies at the front desk promptly took care of the billing (they accept Delta Dental). Valerie gave me a bag containing additional gauze and an ice pack. Dr. Waki gave me a prescription for antibiotics and pain medication. My visit from start to end was less than two hours which was great because I was parked on the street which only provides two hours parking. They do have a lot, but it's not free. Around 8 PM, I got a call from Dr. Waki checking to see how I was doing. LOVE IT!! That is a nice touch and I appreciated the follow up. HAPPY VALENTINES DAY TO ME!!! read more
