When I made my appointment, I was explicitly told over the phone that they accepted CareCredit. When I arrived, however, I was told they could not accept it for my consultation because the charge was under $250. There seems to be confusion between the minimum transaction amount required for promotional financing and the minimum amount required to use a CareCredit account. Those are not the same thing. During my consultation, I was told that I was not a candidate for the procedure I had been referred for and that I would instead need an extraction. I was understandably devastated, but proceeded with the necessary imaging so I could understand my options. That imaging was over $200 but, conveniently, still below their alleged $250 minimum for CareCredit. I was then given a treatment estimate of over $5,000. I was told that the periodontist had spoken with my primary dentist and that my dentist would be calling me to discuss the situation and possible options. I specifically said I wanted to speak with him before agreeing to any further treatment. Despite following up, I never received that call, so I have no idea what was actually discussed. The billing experience was equally frustrating. Before I left, I was repeatedly asked to pay for the imaging, but was told I could not use CareCredit. No one offered to combine the consultation and imaging charges so that the total could be processed through CareCredit. Instead, I was directed toward other payment options. I declined and left the balance unpaid. I have since seen other reviews mentioning concerns about billing transparency, and unfortunately, my experience reinforced those concerns. I am happy to pay any legitimate remaining balance using CareCredit, as I was told when I scheduled that this office accepted it. I am certain that CareCredit's merchant department will address whether this office's payment practices comply with their agreement. One final note: the office is located in a dilapidated building that is currently under construction. Given the cost of these services, I was surprised that there was no dedicated patient restroom, only a single women's restroom in the hallway shared by other businesses. I waited for nearly 10 minutes for the person occupying the restroom to come out, and then gave up and stopped elsewhere on my way home.

I was referred to Dr. Boustani last year in May when I needed a root canal, my first one ever. I was nervous, but I was also in pain for a while so I wanted to proceed with everything and get rid of trouble. We started with a consultation to identify the tooth, test the area, an X-ray and so on. Dr Boustani was very nice and seemed very careful and precise. We made the appointment for the procedure. Everyone at the front desk was very nice to me and my husband during this time. They did call me to re-schedule de appointment since they didn't have an assistant for my procedure. That was a bit annoying since I was in pain and wanted to get it over with. But I know everyone deals with lack of staff these days. In the day of the procedure, Dr. Boustani made sure I was really numb, tested me several times, she told me it is an important part of the procedure. She sprayed my arms with lavender oil which I love, trying to calm my nerves. The root canal procedure took at least 2 hours, but the doctor was nice, patient, I felt like I was in good hands, she kept me updated with the steps. She is a nice, warm person, easy to chat with while waiting for various steps. She is very experienced, uses the latest technology, and is passionate about her work I didn't feel anything the whole time. It isn't a walk in the park to get a root canal, still, but I didn't feel any pain and I felt care for. They charge a lot, we had a small discount and if you pay upfront you get another one, which I did since I don't have dental insurance. I know this kind of procedure is costly anyways. But I felt in good hands and everyone was very nice and caring. Had no issues during the recovery (not a fun process, but it is what it is). They validate parking for 2 hours, we were in there longer so we paid a tad extra (the building is on Riverside dr.). The garage needs to fix the payment machine, it doesn't work that well. I hope to not need another root canal (or not one anytime soon) but I would come back to Dr. Boustani if that would be the case.

For anyone who wants the highlights: I wasn't briefed on…read moreanesthetic, I 'woke up' during the procedure, it gave me nerve damage, and I was summarily and condescendingly dismissed. Dr. Farnad performed wisdom teeth extraction on me (all four) at my dentist's office and I can say with complete confidence it was the worst dental/medical experience I've ever been through. From minutes before the procedure to now weeks later it has been nothing short of traumatic. However, I have been reassured that my experience is 'completely normal' for this doctor, so I figured it would be in the best interest of anyone who wants to know that I share a little of what you might be in for! Before going into the exam room I was given multiple pages to fill out and sign, with the anesthetic portion left blank, I let the receptionist know that no one has discussed this with me so I didn't know what to write. She let me know that they would give me the full run-down when I got in with the doctor. Reader, this did not happen, sorry to say. I got into the room and within minutes monitors were placed and an IV needle was inserted into my arm. I'm not good with needles so I looked away when Dr. Farnad inserted the IV, and subsequently pushed whatever medicine it was that he gave me. Again, I want to stress, I had no idea whatsoever what was going to happen to me, so imagine my surprise when I WOKE UP in the middle of the operation. I learned later that I was given IV sedation, so I was never 'all the way out' but wherever I had gone during the first half of the extraction, I was definitely back. I remember every part of it: my hysterical sobbing, Dr. Farnad telling me to stop fighting him or it would take four hours, the male assistant brought in to hold my head still, my apologizing for fighting but 'it hurts so bad', then him giving me another shot in my mouth as he continued to have to break apart one of my wisdom teeth. At no point was it acknowledged that I was most definitely back in the room with them until afterward the assistant said, "huh, so THAT'S oral surgery," and when I responded saying that was an insane thing to announce to a patient, he commented to the other assistant "I'm surprised she's so alert," to which she said "Yeah, but she'll be out again as soon as she's in the car." Reader, again I have to inform you that this did not happen. Now we're weeks out from the surgery, and I'm experiencing absolutely mind blowing levels of nerve irritation in my chin. I went back in to speak with my dentist who let me know that it sounded like nerve damage, between the numbness and the painful tingling. (Note: the dentist brought up the nerve damage, not me.) Today I had the displeasure of going to a follow up with Dr. Farnad who showed up for our appointment an HOUR late. When I brought up the potential nerve damage he immediately dismissed me with a condescending "Oh so you let the internet scare you." Then he let me know that this kind of numbness and nerve pain was so common with his patients, he sees it all the time, and that the pain and numbness will be gone within the next two and a half months. He then asked the assistant for x-rays to see how it looked internally. This was when I really began to question his competence, because while looking at my x-ray he said: a) he left a cap in to not disturb the nerve, b) did not leave a cap in, he left a bunch of room for the nerve, c) was unable to tell if he had done a bone graft for me, and asked if I had paid for one to settle the matter. He then gave me his personal phone number and encouraged me to stay off the internet, because it's only going to scare me. Well sorry, I went back on the internet.

I trust her, and while my anxiety was at an all time high about removing a decaying wisdom tooth, I needed someone who went a bit further than the norm on this. At age 57 having this type of oral surgery felt non trivial and I was terrified. Ruth walked me through the entire process after my initial consultation, which was quick and easy. Even through my fear, I even opted to remove a second wisdom tooth that was not yet a problem, but I knew it would be in the next few years. There was no pressure to do so and indeed, he told me it was not immediately necessary. Every staff member is so nice and friendly, you feel immediately at ease. On the day of my surgery I was very scared and my anxiety was quite high. After the procedure was done, and I had no recollection of it at all, I felt fine and numb with no pain or bleeding whatsoever. I went home and went to bed and woke up a bit sore and took a few Advil, which was all I needed to control the minimal discomfort I felt. Frankly, this experience far exceeded my expectations in the most positive way. I highly recommend doing the IV sedation for all of the obvious reasons and the cost is totally reasonable. I have no dental insurance but found the pricing fair and within and even below the standard. Do yourself a favor, don't look any further, and DO NOT watch YouTube videos prior to going in. They are nothing like what you will experience and they are overly dramatic. The only negative about the entire experience is the dietary restrictions after the procedure due to the holes left in your mouth. Of course had I done this years ago, when first suggested, my healing time would have been much shorter, but the ease and lack of pain I experienced allowed me to overlook the forced diet I was on for about a week, which I suppose we all could use. Feel free to message me with any questions you may have and I will be happy to convince you that Dr. Kupferman is the guy for you!
