STAY AWAY. UNETHICAL. I scheduled a consult with Dr. Kupferman for my mother. She needed a full set of teeth (Implants or arches). We went to a number of consults that were complimentary in the area, however LACOMS and Dr. Kupferman in particular charged $550 which we were prepared to pay. We came in with a recent CT and Xrays. So no scans were needed. We were very clear in wanting a detailed treatment plan, timelines, and cost. We got nothing!!! Instead, we were referred to Dr. Aaron Schwartzman, a prosthodontist. He explained that he needed to consult with Dr. Schwartzman to come up with a comprehensive plan. We then made an appointment to see Dr. Schwartzman at the Prosthodonic Center which we were initially told would cost $285 for the consult. When we arrived, we spoke about different options, however nothing was definitive. He said he would speak with Dr. Kupferman for the final treatment plan and include costs and timelines. He gave me a loose VERBAL range of what he thought it might be. Then later wanted to charge an additional $700+ for more scans and tests. We already came in with a recent CT and Xrays. This would have cost close to $1000 for just the initial visit. Between the two of the Doctors, it would have been over $1500+. We stopped at $285 with Dr. Schwartzman. This was a complete RIP OFF. To be tossed around from one doctor to another without getting a proper comprehensive treatment plan, timelines and costs is absolutely ridiculous . We paid a total of $835 for NOTHING. NOTHING. NOTHING. This is highly unethical and I regret coming here. I plan to file several complaints to prevent this from happening to others. read more

I was referred to Dr. Kupferman by a friend who's daughter had all of her wisdom teeth out a couple years back. I trust her, and while my anxiety was at an all time high about removing a decaying wisdom tooth, I needed someone who went a bit further than the norm on this. At age 57 having this type of oral surgery felt non trivial and I was terrified. Ruth walked me through the entire process after my initial consultation, which was quick and easy. Even through my fear, I even opted to remove a second wisdom tooth that was not yet a problem, but I knew it would be in the next few years. There was no pressure to do so and indeed, he told me it was not immediately necessary. Every staff member is so nice and friendly, you feel immediately at ease. On the day of my surgery I was very scared and my anxiety was quite high. After the procedure was done, and I had no recollection of it at all, I felt fine and numb with no pain or bleeding whatsoever. I went home and went to bed and woke up a bit sore and took a few Advil, which was all I needed to control the minimal discomfort I felt. Frankly, this experience far exceeded my expectations in the most positive way. I highly recommend doing the IV sedation for all of the obvious reasons and the cost is totally reasonable. I have no dental insurance but found the pricing fair and within and even below the standard. Do yourself a favor, don't look any further, and DO NOT watch YouTube videos prior to going in. They are nothing like what you will experience and they are overly dramatic. The only negative about the entire experience is the dietary restrictions after the procedure due to the holes left in your mouth. Of course had I done this years ago, when first suggested, my healing time would have been much shorter, but the ease and lack of pain I experienced allowed me to overlook the forced diet I was on for about a week, which I suppose we all could use. Dr Kupferman was recommended to me because I had a strange lump on my tongue. He did a biopsy - he and the staff and everyone were both kind and professional, including doing a covid test, which told me how careful they are being. Unlike many other dr's I've worked with in my almost 70 years, Dr Kupferman texted the evening after the surgery to just check up on me. It was refeshing and I appreciated it. But as anyone who has been through something like this knows, the wait for results was kind of excruciating. While he could have waited until normal business hours the next day, Dr Kupferman knew how worried I was and called me at 6:30pm - after hours - to let me know the results. I was referred to Dr. Kupferman by my dentist to have a molar removed. I was incredibility impressed from the very first call to make what I considered a dreaded but necessary appointment. I was assisted by Ruth who was as professional friendly and accommodating as one could be. When I arrived the entire staff was super. Meeting Dr. Kupferman was like meeting a new friend. I was referred to Dr. Kupferman from someone that I greatly respect. I recently had a facial trauma accident resulting in a Zygoma Fracture. An appointment was set up with me a day later. I went to their office and Dr. Omar Kholaki consulted with me after taking a CT scan. He explained to me in great detail and clarity what I would expect from a surgery like this. Dr. Kholaki and the staff at LACOMS were so helpful and caring. The next day I received a call from Janet (the Patient Treatment Coordinator) and she scheduled my surgery for the following week (6 days after my actual accident). Janet sent me all the paperwork via email and I had 4 questions that I responded with and she answered everything right away. I even got a call from the anesthesiologist the night before my surgery explaining exactly what I needed to do and what I would expect from the general anesthesia I would be receiving. I met Dr. Kupferman the day of my surgery and he assured me everything was going to be fine. Dr. Kholaki didn't even have to make an incision on the external part of my face! I just had dental surgery today with Dr. Kupferman. Yes, I was scared as ever as I had to get a front tooth extracted. Luckily, i had enough bone in the area, so i was able to have the implant placed the same day. I had a root canal done awhile ago by Dr. Rudner, the most gentle, kind and honest dentist u will ever meet, did I mention handsome, too:-). Well anyway, he recommended Dr. K., they are in the same bldg in Century City. What a great referral and pleasant experience it was, whew:-) Nevertheless, for a beautiful teeth fanatic and former dental assistant/hygienist, it was a very emotional experience. I was really scared but Dr. K. Was very, very patient with me and took his time to answer all my many questions and even showed me a 180 degree x-ray, on a large flat screen tv-like monitor exactly what he was going to do and what was involved. He is also a MD in oral surgery, so he was able to put me to sleep with IV sedation, so I did not feel or remember a thing. Yes, I would definitely recommend the sleeping part. I was given a great recommendation from a local dentist. I called the Kupferman's office and was told they accept my Blue Shield PPO Insurance. When I arrived I was handed a document to fill out. I asked where is the the i-pad? Cedars and UCLA know my medical profile online. I nearly bolted out of office, but I kept my cool. I met the doctor. He was charming.The nurse was lovely. THEN....I am told the $350 consultation was not covered by insurance. What? No biopsy today? The sore is as big as a pine nut. Not even a photo for comparison? Or how about a swab test? Instead I am told I would have to return for the biopsy. They would apply consultation cost to my bargain basement price of $2,945!!!!! Lab reports are sent out to Cedars. And then what? It comes back positive and they charge me another $2,495 because they missed cancer. EEK! METHINKS NOT. read more

We were totally freaking about about a surgery our son looked like he needed to have. We were told by 4 oral surgeons, 3 dentists and a couple of orthos (I did my homework), that our sons condition was seriously unusual...... He was scared and we were so worried. We were referred to Dr. Kupfermans office, and lets just say we were immediately reassured that the type of jaw surgery our son needs, is very common in their office. Dr. Kupferman saved my life. I got my wisdom teeth removed by another dentist & a day later had to go to the hospital because of an infection. My face & neck was insanely swollen. Dr. Kupferman was called into the ER just to look at my case because there were no oral specialists on duty. My case was so severe that my mouth had to get operated on again. He came into the ER & stayed up over night until 6 am to operate on me when he could have been at home with his family. I had to stay in the hospital for a few more days after surgery. Each following day he went out of his way to come to the hospital and check on me after working a full day at his own separate office. If it wasn't for Dr. Kupferman the infection would have spread and I could have lost my life. Comparing the original dentist who removed my wisdom teeth to Dr. Kupferman is a night and day difference. Dr. Kupferman genuinely cares about his patients and knows what he is doing. What an incredible experience! I was very afraid for my surgery and Dr. Kupferman, the nurses, and the anesthesiologist alleviated my fears. My wisdom teeth extraction took only about 30 minutes for 3 teeth, and I was given the perfect amount of pain medication in my IV to last me the whole day. I didn't feel groggy or anything. I've healed great and the staff, especially Ruth has been there to answer all of my follow up questions. Dr. Kupferman gave me a phone call a few hours after surgery to see how I was doing, and Dr. Walline in the office even gave me his cell phone number just incase I needed to come in on the weekend incase of emergency. They also encouraged me to come back in before leaving on vacation just to make sure I'm in good condition!! What a great team. I could not have asked for a better experience truthfully. The doctors provide full honesty and transparency, are quick and do their job precisely, down to a science. She knew that I had a previous traumatic experience in the past with a wisdom tooth being extracted, so she referred me to Oral Surgeon, Dr. Steven B. Kupferman DMD, MD. He was amazing! He eased all of my worries and I was in and out within an hour. I no longer dread going to the dentist and I feel that has 100% to do with the wonderfully, anxiety free, experience that I had today. If you are looking for a general practitioner or an oral surgeon look no further. Both Dr. Elaine S. Symonds and Dr. Steven B. Kupferman are the best! You won't be disappointed. Dental procedures are never fun and jaw surgery is a truly daunting prospect, however Dr. Kupferman and his colleague Dr. Walline are the team to go to if you are having any problems with your jaw. Their office is welcoming, every member of their staff is friendly and helpful, parking is easy (although it's a little pricey!) and the billing department explain the costs in simple terms and suggest a variety of ways to pay if it's not all covered by your insurance. The two doctors themselves are exceptionally easy to talk to and Dr. Kupferman was incredibly thorough when explaining the jaw surgery he was going to carry out in order to correct my son's Class III occlusion, as well as the implants my son was going to need due to a childhood accident. I tend to trust my gut instincts and so I knew the moment I met Dr. Kupferman that he was the Dr. to entrust my son's mouth to. The surgery is complicated and long, but I never doubted for a second that it wouldn't be a total success, and I found Dr. Kupferman and Dr. Walline to be both confident and reassuring, which is a great combination. Both doctors worked on my son's mouth, and after the surgery was completed both of them took the time to chat with me, explain how the surgery had gone, prepare me for how my son was going to look when I first saw him on the ward and reassure me that he wasn't suffering too much! The surgery was a fantastic success and we could see the great results even on the second day, in spite of the bruising and swelling. My son truly wasn't in as much pain as I was expecting and the doctors and their staff were very conscientious and checked in by phone several times to make sure our son was doing well. Our son is incredibly pleased to have the comfort of a typical jaw now and is very happy that he went through with the surgery. He also finds both Dr's great to deal with as they really take the time to explain everything so well. One of our other children has a very similar jaw problem to his brother, and when the time comes I know that I will once again put him in the capable hands of Dr. Kupferman. read more

I was refer to Dr Kupferman by a prosthodontists that told me that Dr Kupferman will do for me the implan and I will do the last restoration but after few week of treatment I decided to stop because they way he treat me and the problem of my teeth. Few week later I got a letter from Dr Kupferman that say " I will no longer be able to treat you as a patient in my practice and the doctore/patient relationship between us will be terminated" and " I am terminating that relationship because I do not feel that the trust and confidence required in doctor/patient relationship remains between us" we didnt even started any treatment thank God but just because I terminated my treatment with the prosthodontist who didnt do good a job they decided not to take care of me that was un professional and redicules ( luckily he/prosthodontists pay me back my deposit and for that he got two star) then few months later I got a called from Dr Kupferman office (Ruth) she told me that the Doctor ask me for a favore and Mercey to remove the post because now (then) we are coming to "yom Kippur" ( if you a Jewish you know what I am talking about) and that the time to forgive and forget is now before the holiday, I thought that is ridiculous how he was thinking about himself and why he didnt care about my health and my problem when he wrote me this letter so I told them NO I am not going to remove it I am still in pain and that they hurt me a lot by not taking care of me just because both of them work together I stated on the phone that I can find another prosthodontists and he will do the implan but they didnt care or talked to me before sending me this letter. After all I am so glad so glad that it's turn this way for my luck because I found two other doctore that is out of this world it got unbelivable treatment,service, price, knowledge, kindness,professionalism and the most important is the result I am extremely so happy, beautiful and most important can eat and bite food. So thank you God for saving me. Just remember getting to a problem Like I have loosing almost all the teeth I needed to find the best Periodontics and prosthodontists who I will have a good relationship To help me keeping the implan and my health for the rest of my life and not just for a short time . Our just-12 year old daughter needed to have her wisdom teeth out (early) as well as two other teeth "exposed". As the first of her friends to have her wisdom teeth out, she was a bit nervous, but both our orthodontist and our pediatric dentist highly recommended Dr. Kupferman. We have several children and have been through various oral surgeries before, but we have never had an experience like this one --- the Doctor and his entire staff could not have been more kind, gracious, helpful and professional. Do NOT listen to any of the not-so-nice comments here on Yelp -- there is no way that a sane person going to this office would have anything less than a professional and beyond pleasant experience.
