Five years after Dr. Kaye totally rocked it re-implanting my teeth after an accident, I came back to him to get my wisdom teeth taken out -- he was able to accommodate me on a holiday. He was great. It was a complex situation with bony impactions -- a friend who had a similar problem actually went through a lot of grief/pain and multiple surgeons across several days to get hers out AND had to go fully under because it was so stressful. Dr. Kaye got mine done in just a couple of hours totally painlessly with just local and nitrous. Heeled perfectly after just a few days, basic advil helped with the minimal soreness, and my face never even swelled up. Dr. Kaye is the best!!! read more

Just got my sutures removed and I am thrilled with the overall experience. I had 1 wisdom tooth removed at a previous dentist, and I am only glad to have gotten that other tooth removed elsewhere so I could truly appreciate the three I had removed here. The whole process consisted of three visits, all of which were amazing. Visit 1 - X-Ray: The first visit was an X-Ray session and debrief. The X-Ray was quick; I bit down and stood there for about 15 seconds while the machine took the X-Ray. No jamming things to the back of your teeth and painful biting, just a quick scan. After that Kaye took a look at the pictures and debriefed me. The only reason I came to Kaye in the first place was that my previous dentist who did my other wisdom removal told me I needed to be put out ($800) and so recommended I come here. Kaye told me that I didn't need to, unless I really wanted to and proceeded to inform me about possible risks and events that probably won't occur. The whole process was very informative, and Kaye sounded super confident and almost too cocky, but he spoke in a way that made me comfortable despite the cockiness Visit 2 - Surgery Unfortunately there was an emergency in the morning so I had to wait an extra hour but there was a TV + magazines (and who doesn't have a cell phone to keep themselves busy). The people at the front desk were very nice, offering water and apologizing frequently. I must say though, the wait was completely worth it. Surgery began with local anesthesia (minor stings) but the surgery itself was mind-blowing. The whole time, I never felt excess liquids running anywhere. The top two teeth were removed in what felt like 5 minutes. The bottom tooth was a "problem tooth" according to Kaye, but the whole situation was so comfortable and relaxing I could probably have fallen asleep if I wanted to (but I didn't want my tongue to go crazy obviously). Usually child mouth props (bracers?) are too small and make me uncomfortable, but I didn't even feel any comfortableness with the props. Kaye had me sit in a more upright position throughout the whole surgery, which I assume made it more comfortable overall. The previous dentist had me gagging frequently, spilled water everywhere and made it hard for me to breathe. Kaye on the other hand was efficient and I was completely relaxed the whole time. 2.5 - Recovery Similarly to my last wisdom tooth, I had no problems recovering. I didn't have real pain either times, but it was interesting that Kaye barely gave any instructions on recovery. An ice pack and gauze was provided, but no medication nor detailed instructions on day-to-day recovery. In the end though, recovery was fast (solid foods within 5 days) and there are no instructions you can't find on the internet anyways. Visit 3 - Suture Removal So for the third visit, I needed to get my stitches removed. I found only a 1 hour parking spot so I quickly ran to the the office. They had me in and out within 15 minutes. My only grief is that I wasted a dollar on the 30 minutes I didn't need! Overall, the experience was amazing, and thank you Kaye for such a wonderful wisdom tooth extraction experience. read more

Excellent! I am from the Bay area but currently live in Los Angeles. I had dental work done by an amazing Doctor in the Bay about a month ago and had contracted an infection(totally my fault). My doctor from the Bay area recommended Dr. Kaye to me and I'm so thankful he did! He was able to see me on super short notice and took amazing care of me! For something as scary and annoying as getting your wisdom teeth out, Dr. Kaye's office does a great job making you feel calm and comfortable. Atmosphere: The moment you walk in, you feel quite serene. Greeting you is a small waiting room with a clean fish tank, TV, smiling receptionist/aide, and four chairs. Sitting down, you know that you won't have to wait long, since there appears to be nobody else there. Also, for those who are a bit scared, they have TVs in each room, which allows you to get your mind off of what is going on in your mouth. Staff: Very friendly and caring staff. Nancy, the receptionist and dental aide is very friendly and makes sure that you understand what is happening and that you are comfortable. She also suggested that if I was nervous, I could bring in my ipod or watch TV during the surgery. Dr. Kaye is also very friendly and explains all your options to make sure that you understand all available info before you make a decision. When I called, I was able to get an appointment within a few days or later that day, which is nice. Surgery: Dr. Kaye had a great way of administering the anaesthesia - he shook my cheek as he poked my gums. I didn't even notice what he was doing! This is great because I was really scared of having a needle in my mouth. That was the worst part of the whole ordeal and it only took a few minutes! After that I didn't feel a thing! As I was rather cold during the surgery, I was able to grab a blanket out of the cupboard to put on my legs. Post-Surgery: Although I had my surgery on Friday, Dr. Kaye called me on Sunday to make sure that I was recovering and was not in too much pain. I called ask about ear pain and they invited me to come in later that day to be looked at. Two days later, they did a follow up call to see if the help given at drop-in appointment had been helpful, which it had. Con: The only thing that could have made the experience flawless was if I had been given a cleaning syringe at the end of the surgery. As it turns out, when I went back to the office to get my stitches out, I complained about an earache. Only then was I given this tool to help with the cleaning process of the wound. Parking: Lots of parking around the area: metered lots off Roxbury or free parking at Rite Aid. read more

Dr. Kaye has done 2 procedures for me recently. I had 2 teeth pulled and one implant . Both times, he did amazing work. Other than the initial shots, he was able to extract the tooth and roots with the zero pain. The aftermath, produced zero swelling and no complications. I have had another tooth pulled by a different oral surgeon. He broke the route and had to pull it out in pieces. However, Dr. Kaye literally slides them out with ease. I would highly recommend this highly experienced surgeon to anyone. The office is extremely well run, from the front office to his assistant. Everything about this place is AMAZING! Far exceeded any expectations I could have ever imagined. The receptionist is so helpful, meticulous and kind. The medical assistant is so calming, sweet, and tender. And the dentist is funny, professional, charming, and efficient. He has to be the best there is! I got my wisdom tooth extracted and I was in and out with x-rays and extraction complete within about 30 minutes. Unbelievable! I've had my wisdom teeth extracted before by another dental office and the experience was night and day. I did not need any stitches and my recovery is going so incredibly smooth. I had three upper teeth removed by Dr. Kaye. I know oral surgery can be painful - I'd had it before - but nothing as bad as this. I was definitely not sedated enough for the procedure. They gave me three pieces of sterile gauze when I left and told me to bite down on the gauze in my mouth for 25 minutes. I bled for the next eight hours - everytime I opened my mouth, blood poured out. He didn't give me any stitches, and said I didn't need them. And the charge of $900 for removing three teeth seemed a little high by comparison. I have to have my bottom teeth removed, and I am definitely not going back for him to do the procedure. I wouldn't write this but his other reviews are so positive (if years older) I felt like I should give anyone looking for a pleasant oral surgery (oxymoron alert!) a heads up. read more

Dr. Kaye took four wisdom teeth out of my head and has taken out every single one of my friend's wisdom teeth as well. I am an extremely anxious person, and canceled my appointment several times before I could work up the nerve to actually come in. When I finally did, Dr. Kaye was so patient and funny, I was able to ignore my instincts and not turn around and run out screaming. Dr. Kaye talked me through the whole procedure, let me listen to my iPod at full volume so I wouldn't have to hear what was going on, and talked me off a ledge when I heard needles were involved. I have no idea what I would have done if I hadn't had Dr. Kaye. Let my wisdom teeth grow into my brain and kill me, probably. My whole family has been going to Dr. Kaye for years, which is how I originally went to him in the first place. He has been practicing in Beverly Hills for over 30 years, took care of my grandparents (each has several dental implants) and my brother. I normally wouldn't review an oral surgeon, but I looked him up out of curiosity and was shocked to see a couple crazies writing something bad. As a 31 year old male needing to have 4 wisdom teeth removed I was not looking forward to the procedure but I need to say the entire experience exceeded expectations! There was no pain whatsoever and once the Novocain kicked in the whole procedure took 20 minutes! Without a doubt the best oral surgeon I have met. I broke a piece of wisdom tooth while eating. That produced soreness and a headache for a week. my general dentist said I should have the broken tooth extracted. I was scared, and didn't want to have a tooth pulled. I called Dr Kaye's office, was greeted confidently and cheerfully and given an appointment that day. Dr Kay explained his removal procedure, I was numbed up and the job was done in 10 minutes! I have to start with the fact that I loathe going to any doctor who is going to work inside my mouth! Having said that, Dr Kaye was professional and funny at the same time. He made sure that I was fully numb before he pulled the tooth. There was another time I was in his chair and the tooth was a little more difficult to pull and it actually cracked, but Dr. Kaye made it as comfortable as it could possibly be. If you're having oral surgery - including impacted wisdom teeth - be advised that Dr. Kaye has a very specific philosophy about providing his services. General anesthesia is NOT offered unless you have pre-requested that before your appointment. Anything more than LOCAL (novacaine) is viewed as unnecessary and discouraged. In addition, you will NOT be offered a prescription for painkillers after the procedure. He believes there is no value in any medication other than Advil or Motrin. He seems more concerned about the opioid crisis than providing a couple of days of Vicodin so that his patients can rest more comfortably. "If you want to sleep than we should admit you to a hospital and put you in a coma." This was not the experience I wanted or expected for oral surgery. I am not saying the standard of care was poor, but it seems inconsistent and outdated compared to the practices of other dental surgeons. read more

I had my number 19 tooth removed on Friday, November 13th (I know : ) ) It was a very difficult extraction. I was awake for this whole horrible event. I had my first surgery ever with Dr. K (4 wisdom teeth; i was very nervous) but everything went so well. The staff was super helpful answering my questions and helping me with a payment plan. Dr. Kaye's work was so good, I cant say enough good things about him. Jessica his assistant as well. They were so understanding with how anxious I was and they work was impeccable. The sedation they gave me was perfect, did not feel a thing. Took a week to heal as normal and when I came back to get my stitches out, there was no pain at all. I had an infected wisdom tooth and when I got to Dr. Kaye I could not even open my mouth and was in a lot of pain. Dr. Kaye was very caring and so was his Staff. After a few days of antibiotics I showed up for the surgery. I was totally scared as I had read all the horror stories on line of all that could go wrong with wisdom teeth surgery. Beyond taking some time to stretch my mouth with all kinds of gadgets so he could actually get to the tooth, and the pain of the injection (due to the infected gum), he was so skilled that by the time I was numbed and I blinked the tooth was out. I had only minor swelling for a day, very little bleeding and needed only 1 Aleve. His Staff followed up with me the same day. He answered all my questions before during and after the whole process. He even helped me with exercises to get my jaw muscle slowly back to stretching out. If you go to him you are in excellent hands! read more
