I never thought I'd develop the nerve to write this review, but my experience 16 years ago with Dr. Peck has caused lasting emotional trauma and I have severe dental phobia to the point where I need sedation to receive basic dental services such as cleanings and fillings. I was not like that as a teenager. I went in for routine extractions of my third molars. As others have said he did not wait for the local anesthetic to take effect. Must have been short on time or simply lacking empathy. His extractions were 7 minutes of pure hell and torture. I felt everything. I was arching up in the chair and grabbing the rails. I felt the cutting, the drilling, and the stitching. The nerve block was garbage. I was told to relax by the assistant and gaslit to believe "it's just pressure". Why is it that everyone from my dermatologist to regular dentist poke you to check if you feel things after local? Please steer clear of this man who still practices like local anesthetic is being rationed by the soviet government. read more

This review is for Dr. Derek Tow. The entire process from start to finish was headache-free. There were no insurance issues, or payment issues, thank G-d. Dr. Tow removed my wisdom teeth, the left two. He was amazing from start to finish and made sure I understood the procedure. To make sure there would be no complications, they did a CAT scan in-office and even made sure my insurance would cover it. Thankfully, everything went well. They made sure I was comfortable and I didn't feel a thing. For a local anesthetic wisdom tooth removal, it was as comfortable and painless as possible. The reason for this extra long review is to help anyone considering Wisdom Teeth Removal with Dr. Peck. The office staff, Ruzanna was one of the best in the medical field I have ever encountered with lining up x-rays and follow up. We had a unique situation to get X-rays transferred over. It could've been lengthy, but Ruzanna saved me hours of phone calls through her efficiency. Dr. Leon Peck made my 18 year old daughter's 4 wisdom teeth removal as fantastic of an experience that it could be LOL. The extraction was very quick (maybe 20 mins total) once explanation of what to expect was done and my daughter was whisked away. There were no complications, no chips on other teeth (we made sure to review which teeth removal beforehand), completely painless, and no headphones offered like another review mentioned. Appointment was at 2pm and back to garage valet by 3:15pm ($15 parking was the time we paid) with 4 wisdom teeth handed in a clear tube for the tooth fairy. I would absolutely recommend Dr. Peck's and his entire office for any similar procedure and give him my highest recommendation. Here are some pay it forward tips we felt helpful, as we went into this a little bit nervous and not sure what to expect: 1. Dr. Peck reviewed 3 types of pain control, made his recommendation of which to go with and we chose - Laughing Gas (does not address pain, but helps with nervousness) with the injection of local anesthetic in gums to numb the area (it might be lidocaine). No IV was used and it was so easy on my girl. 2. Dr. Peck checked on her pain throughout the procedure and administered a little more numbing in one spot she requested. He waited and checked with her again. Empathetic doctor indeed. She was awake the whole time and found it helpful to help by keeping her mouth open and still so the doctor can see & work easily. She felt safe with great communication throughout. 3. Dr. Peck prescribed amoxicillin antibiotic and 600 mg ibuprofen which was ready at our pharmacy by the time we pulled up on the way home. 4. We brought 2 soft ice packs in a little cooler bag to the appointment and left them in the car. My daughter started icing her cheeks on the drive home, then fell asleep on the car ride. When she got home, back to sleep with head elevated on 2 pillows stacked the first 2 nights. 5. She had no swelling or pain at any time after the procedure, or even the next day. In fact she wanted to go to her favorite restaurant the very next night and ordered mashed potatoes. She only needed the prescribed ibuprofen the night of the of the extraction, and then only one time the next day. No swelling and she still iced both her lower cheeks a lot in case. NIGHT BEFORE She drank lots of pineapple juice which helps prevent swelling and then had it in smoothies the evening of the procedure onward. We bought our own soft ice packs on Amazon and brought them in a cooler bag for the drive home. She gargled with sea salt 2 days post surgery, especially after every meal. INSTACART DELIVERY or MARKET (see photo for all you need to buy) We just logged on to Instacart and had everything delivered the afternoon before: Set the phone timer for the amoxicillin dosages to be consistent. Other than that it was completely no maintenance and nothing to worry about. Pretty routine as most everybody really goes through it at sometime. We love Dr. Peck and truthfully we were all completely able to go about our business like nothing the very next day. So I came to Dr Peck for wisdom tooth removal. I have coverage from Medi Cal we removed my bottoms ones on the first day honestly I had such bad anxiety I couldn't stop crying but I kept my mouth as open as I could I highly don't recommend in ear head phones you will hear everything. The pain was crazy horrible all I had been prescribed from dr peck was ibuprofen and stuff to make sure I wouldn't get an infection I was in a lot of pain for the first three days. I got to keep my teeth too lol. A couple weeks later I went for my top wisdom teeth this time I opted for laughing gas I huffed it as hard as I could for 10 minutes prior to extraction and no headphones this time it was super easy no pain ibuprofen Was prescribed again I only had a slight headache but this time it was a breeze I heard too ones hurt less anyways. Only down side which was a huge downside for me was that during the process of extracting my tooth they chipped out a piece of my back top teeth. Definitely wasn't a cavity prior and if it was very irresponsible for him not to tell me what he saw but I never felt a sharp giant hole in my tooth prior and when confronted with what they had done to me they said there was nothing they could do because they do oral surgery not cosmetic so now I'm at another dentist getting it fixed and paying out of pocket. read more

If you can even call Leon a dentist youre mistaken. This old, rude, snarky man laughed at the fact his patient had pain while being stuck with an IV. After being told that that is an unneeded and unprofessional remark he said if i spoke again I would be removed from the patient and the room. He took 3+ tries to insert said IV and used the SAME needle twice when you are supposed to get a new needle for every stick, no matter what. Using the same needle even for the same patient opens immense risk and infection factors. Not only did he laugh at the patient in pain, he also did not keep his oath to do no harm. I highly recommend NEVER going to see him for any reason. Especially wisdom teeth removal. He is disgusting, rude, and uneducated. Dr. Peck is a lifesaver!! I've had mild aching pain from my right bottom wisdom tooth on and off for the past couple years, usually not lasting longer than 3 days. A couple weeks ago, that mild aching pain came back but instead of going away after 3 days, the pain started increasing and became absolutely unbearable. I called my dentist who referred me to Dr. Peck, and when I called his office, they were able to squeeze me in 2 days later which was my soonest available day off. Before my appointment, I was a little nervous due to the other Yelp reviews. However, the day of my appointment was a breeze! Even though it was only my right bottom wisdom tooth bothering me, he recommended removing all 4 before the other 3 could start acting up too. A little laughing gas and a couple injections for pain later, and all my teeth were out! It felt like it took less than 10 minutes! And they showed me my teeth afterward, it was awesome! I did start tearing up after the injections, just from lack of sleep and thinking about what was happening to my mouth, but his surgical assistants were so sweet and wiped my tears with tissues and told me fun stories to help make me laugh. My dentist referred me to Dr. Peck for a wisdom tooth extraction that I had been avoiding for years. Two of them were half hooded under gum and could not make it out, and two were out all the way. Dr. Peck recommended doing the procedure with just local anesthetic to minimize risks to myself and to my nursing 10 month old. I didn't even know this was an option! Super quick and painless. Afterwards, Dr. Peck went through care and meds with me and prescribed everything to be safe for a nursing baby. Service at this places is terrible the front receptionist are unhappy, not welcoming at ALL and worse of all they got bother because I had my 2 yrs old with me. She told me there was no KIDs allowed, I asked her where is your sign that says that? I was supposed to get all four wisdom teeth extracted about 15 years ago, and (like many people) out of severe terror I have been dodging it ever since. I had steeled myself for a truly traumatic experience, and it could not have been more different from my expectations. The procedure itself lasted about 10 minutes for 2 teeth. I had the laughing gas and even though I was very aware of what they were doing, I didn't really feel it. Definitely no pain during the procedure. When I finally sat up, I was actually laughing - mostly in relief and utter shock that it was over and I was totally okay. I had to have all four of my wisdom teeth pulled and am an older patient. Because of my age, the extraction is more difficult. The jaw bone hardens and as Dr. Peck told me, "the good news is, with a jaw as strong as yours you'll probably never lose any of your teeth -- the bad news is, getting your wisdom teeth out is going to be a challenge." And it was a challenge. But here's the thing, as difficult as it was, the reassuring manner of Dr. Peck and his staff helped me through the extraction. I came here to get my bottom wisdom teeth extracted about 8 months ago. Firstly, after putting anesthesia the Dr needs to double check to see if you're fully numb, unfortunately he did not do this and I felt everything on my left side. I was too in shock to say anything. Thankfully he eventually added more anesthesia after noticing I was physically in pain, but this could have definitely been prevented. Staff made me feel as if I was dramatic for crying after the procedure . 1 week AFTER surgery, I had a terrible infection I went to ER because the pain was unbearable. It took me about 1month to fully heal. Fast forward 8 MONTHS LATER, I developed another infection in the exact same area. I followed up with my dentist and they told me the sutures were placed wrong, causing my gums to heal incorrectly which explains my infection. My then-dentist didn't have time to pull a broken tooth of mine, so he sent me to Dr. Peck. The office was a madhouse! Everyone was yelling and I got a totally bad vibe, even though nothing had really gone wrong. Also, one reason I'd chosen my dentist was that he billed later, whereas this place makes you pay upfront, which was pretty bad for me, broke and broken-toothed girl. They took me in to pull the tooth and insisted on x-raying me again even though I'd literally gotten an x-ray about ten minutes previously. This led to many heated discussions between me and the staff and finally Dr. Peck, who promised me they wouldn't charge me for it after I freaked out (not sure if that's the normal policy or not). They also thought that "while you're here we could just pull your wisdom teeth!" Um, that's really not a "while you're here" thing. After all of this, you're probably wondering why I'm giving this place three stars. Well, once we got around to my actual tooth extraction, I was freaking amazed, because it was the easiest bit of oral surgery-type-stuff I've EVER had done. I was deathly afraid of surgery. My dentist told me I needed to get all 4 wisdom teeth out and that he would do it there, while I was awake. There was no way in hell I was going to let him pull any teeth of my mouth while I was awake. He referred me to Dr. Peck and I demanded anesthesia during the surgery. Whoever wrote the review that said Dr. Peck didn't offer anesthesia, that's bullshit. All surgeons have anesthesia but don't like using it because it isn't 100% safe. Pulling 4 wisdom teeth took 45 minutes, and I had no swelling whatsoever following the procedure. He gave me vicodin and ibuprofen, I learned that you can't take vicodin without taking the ibuprofen or else the vic just won't work. I ended up getting dry socket and didn't have enough vicodin for the pain, but I didn't call Dr. Peck immediately, instead I went to my dentist who said I didn't have dry socket and gave me more vicodin. Dr. Peck called me the next day and said, you forsure have dry socket, come in immediately. He put in these surgical cloths drenched in ground cloves and the pain went away immediately. 1st, for the people complaining about parking, park in the La Cienega Tennis Center. I think it might be two hours free and after that you pay, either way it will be cheaper than parking in the building. It's between Wilshire and Olympic. If you're driving down La Cienega from Wilshire toward Olympic, as soon as you pass the first intersection which is Gregory Way, it's immediately on your right. 2nd, the people that said that the entire staff including Dr. Peck is "terribly unfriendly" and "unsympathetic," are completely ignorant of the nuances of other cultures. The entire staff including Dr. Peck, or at least the majority, are Russian or are probably from some Eastern European country. These cultures are friendly but not in the way Americans are used to. It's also a little more difficult for people whose first language was not English. As for the person who called the office a "madhouse," people who speak languages such as Russian, tend to speak much louder than the norm here in America. My parents are from Ukraine, and when my friends hear them having a normal conversation about dinner, they think they're fighting because they speak so deeply and loudly. It's a thing. THE BEST EXPERIENCE IN THE DENTAL CHAIR !!! I REALLY MEAN IT! I had my wisdom tooth pulled about 2 weeks ago. I could not believe, it was already done when I heard Dr. Peck saying:" That's it, you can go now." I wish this office would sale Gift Certificates. The office is very nice and clean with the State of the Art equipment. The staff is very accommodating and understanding that people that come there are in pain or just simply scared. Somebody was even holding my hand during the injection. The Dr. had numbed my gums before giving me an injection. As I mentioned before I did not hear or feel any pain during the extraction. First off, let me say that I have huge panic issues when it comes to dentists so me giving a 5 star review to an oral surgeon is saying something. I suffered some severe damage to my teeth during a trauma and between my regular dentist and Dr. Peck, I have had to have some extractions and some root canals to clear the way for major restorations. The first time I saw Dr. Peck as a patient, I was at my all-time worst - literally screaming in pain and having been rushed down there on my regular dentists request. He fit me in and somehow got me through the procedure. I have seen him about 6 times since then for various reasons. His office is very busy at times yes, but that is because most people who are coming in are in a state of emergency, having been referred there straight from their own dentist's chair or by appointment. Patients tend to be having one of the worst days of their lives when they walk in and yet, I have never seen the staff be anything buy kind and polite. They accept most regular dental plans but I don't know about dental HMOs. As for their X-ray versus the bite-wings, theirs is one of those cool 360 degree deals where you stand and get a complete X-ray. They also have a digital X-ray they use to help see under and around bridgework and crowns which can be difficult. Dental plans don't usually cover the Gas but I am glad that Dr. Peck recommended we pay the $80 for it. It made all the difference in the world for me. If you take the time to explain in advance that you have above normal panic issues, Dr. Peck is very good at making sure you are given every comfort and consideration. Tell him what sets you off and he'll do his best to help you. With me, I get so panicked I can't often respond to questions such as "is this pain or just pressure?" In fact, it's so bad that He has learned it's better to let me have the gas before he even gives me the needle for the anesthetic. Hopefully I won't have to see him again but if I do, I'm comfortable in the knowledge that he and his staff know I need some extra care and they are more than willing to give it to me. For new patients, keep in mind that the basic X-rays your regular dentist has done may not be sufficiently detailed if you are found to need surgery, especially in the case of broken teeth and abscessed teeth. Please also know that very few insurance companies will pay for laughing gas but that if you can afford it, it really is worth the expense. If you are reading this review because you know you may need an oral surgeon, plan on this expense. In summary - Dr. Peck is a very skilled but in-demand Oral Surgeon. He takes a lot of emergencies. If you have panic issues beyond the average person, be very clear about that beforehand and you will get the consideration you need. He's very good at what he does. read more

I was in LA for winter break, so I came here to get my lower wisdom teeth out while I had a month off before I had to go back to school. I'm normally a total scaredy cat when it comes to dental work, but Dr. Peck made the procedure quick and painless. The staff was also very friendly and made me feel much less anxious about the procedure. I was in and out of the office in just under 30 minutes! He also warned me I would get swollen and I might develop pain a few days later, which is exactly what happened. I came back and got medication placed in the wound; the pain went away shortly thereafter and I was back to normal by the end of the week. All in all, I would definitely recommend Dr. Peck for any oral surgery needs you may need. I've already recommended him to all my friends who will need their wisdom teeth out. So its Been 4 weeks since my wisdom tooth extraction. My mouth still isn't fully healed. 1 week after extraction I returned to dr peck because I suspected dry socket. So he inspected and put in some clove paste and sent me on my way. Never did he ever schedule a follow up appointment ..not after the initial surgery , not after dry socket dressing. Nothing. So..a few days later I ended up being seen by another dental surgeon after dr peck treated my "dry socket" because I was still having some pain and pus and dr peck was out of office that particular day. According to the 2nd opinion I never had dry socket and the medicated paste dr peck placed in there was unnecessary and very sloppily shoved in . New dentist scheduled me another appointment 3 weeks later. 3 weeks later there was still more packing in there! He said this should have been removed and or replaced by dr peck! Mind you..Dr peck never even mentioned me returning for any sort of follow up. So was he just planning to let that stuff stay in there and rot??? Jesus. Its scary to know that a Dr would be capable of such negligence. I would never come back here and would urge others to seek their surgery somewhere else. read more

They also received a substantial amount from my insurance. Earlier today, I was charged by this office for an additional amount that I wasn't made aware of prior to my visit. I just got all 4 of my wisdoms removed by Dr. Peck today. Going into the procedure I was really anxious, but the nurse suggested the laughing gas because it helps calm the nerves. I'm happy she suggested it because it really helped me relax for the 4 shots that I needed in order to pull my teeth out. The whole procedure took less than 10 mins and I didn't experience any pain, only some discomfort. Dr. Peck and all his stuff are amazing. He was incredibly professional, nice, quick and comforting. I'm so thankful my orthodontist Maya Vinarsky recommended him to me. I also didn't have dental insurance and everything, including the pain killers and antibiotics came out to $1600, which is much more reasonable than a lot of other places I looked into.
