Dr. Feldstein pounded his fist over and over on my bed rail while I was having contractions. That should be enough info to make you run from this guy, but I'll fill in the gaps. I arrived at the hospital Saturday 8 AM. He wasn't my regular doctor. He called me on the phone in the delivery room, said he hadn't seen my birth plan before, so he couldn't follow it. Said how he works is he starts the mother on pitocin right away and then sees how things progress. I told him I wanted to see what my body could do first. He said, "I am the doctor!" I still resisted. We hung up. He called me again maybe a half hour later. I would have to sometimes hand the phone to my husband since I couldn't talk on the phone during the contractions. This time he took the disingenuous and gentle approach, calling me sweetie and tried to talk me into starting pitocin. My husband wondered if the doctor had a golf game that day. Then Feldstein finally came up to my room and tried to talk me into starting pitocin again, but provided no good reason to do so. I asked my nurse her opinion when he was out of the room. She couldn't see any reason either. After many hours I was still at only 5 cm, so I asked for an epidural. At prentice, they make your husband and doula, etc. leave the room, which is when he chose to come in again and tell me he needed to start pitocin. I said, "Just let me get my epidural, so I can talk and think." But he wouldn't leave me alone. He said, "No I need to start pitocin now." Then he walked closer to me, lifted his fist over my bed and brought it down over and over on my bed rail with each word - "I NEED TO START PITOCIN NOW!" The nurse, bless her heart, ushered him out, so I could get my epidural. I told the nurse I didn't want him touching my baby. She seemed almost elated, "OK, I'll tell the charge nurse and we will make the change!" And so Dr. Melissa Pendergrass came into the room, told me she was going to take good care of me and deliver my baby, and she did just that. She was wonderful. This was my second dealing with this guy. The first was during a routine visit where the first thing he said to me was a complaint that he had had four deliveries that morning and then after the exam he literally threw a kleenex at me so I could wipe the gel off my belly, despite me not being able to see the other side of my belly. Oh, and another doctor I went to told me Dr. Feldstein was a "jerk." Doctors never insult each other to patients, which is just another indication how bad this guy is. He's a walking lawsuit risk. Run (or waddle if you're pregnant) away. read more
